STEALTH REPORT–The air has a hint of fall in it around here and the temps are cool but there is still some good riding weather left. The toy runs are coming up and we attended one last weekend. Where did the summer go?
Here at STEALTH BIKE WORKS we have a rolling chassis for the 71 shovel project. The project is being built on a Santee wishbone frame, stock rake, no stretch. A Dave Mann centerfold style bike.We may have a couple more projects coming in soon. You never know but that is what makes this a great adventure, the unknown! One thing for sure is that things change real quick. It is just another roll of the dice!
Even though it is the fall season it seems our schedule is full. This Saturday we are headed to “The Gentlemen’s Club” annual “BikeBOOBerfest” bike show. This is one of the top bike shows in the Charlotte area. A couple of weeks down the road the CBA hold their annual fall bike show and swap meet.
We will have a booth set up there. One thing about trying to run a shop and keep it going is that you seem to never have enough time, but that is a good thing. Sometimes you just have to take a few minutes for yourself, to go for a ride and clear your head.
On a personal note “The Meanest” became a grandma this past weekend and I guess I became a step grandpa, boy that sounds strange? Alex was born Sunday Oct. 23rd. Mom and baby are doing fine. One last thing to add to the list of things going on, we sold our house and are moving into another house Nov. 7th. Did I mention that there never seems to be enough time?

New trike from Apex uses V-8 power–APEX TRIKES, part of Apex Manufacturing headquartered in Warrington, Pennsylvania, has added a new trike to their range. The V-8 engine is rated at 430 horsepower and delivers 412ft.lb. of torque, which Apex considers sufficient for the most demanding enthusiast. The trike is designed and built to be fully DOT compliant and intended for practical use. Liquid cooling of the engine takes the heat through the frame and to a radiator at the back. Apex has over twenty years experience of precision engineering for an impressive range of industries which includes meeting military and aerospace standards of design and manufacture.
The engine is a 350ci unit, custom built to Apex’s specification. It drives a fully automatic Powerglide transmission, with two speeds and reverse, via a high stall speed torque converter. The rear axle is a hot rod classic – a 9in Ford unit located by the classic drag race four-link. The drivetrain is installed in a custom frame, CAD designed with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) technology. This is fabricated with mandrel bent sections and is subject to laser alignment.
Apex offers a number of upgrades to the basic specifications, with a fully molded frame or components such as an aluminum driveshaft, dual disc brakes (front and rear) and full instrumentation. Wheelie bars are offered for competition use. The trike is finished with a 19-gallon (US) gas tank, adjustable control and peg positions, stainless steel braided lines and a 2-1/2in mandrel bent exhaust system with tuneable, adjustable mufflers.
Standard colors are glossy black, yellow or candy apple red, but custom finishes can also be supplied.
