Another Perspective On A Thanksgiving Tradition

to Murdoc 1 Pictured are the First and second place contestants in the annual Thanksgiving Eve Turkey Gravy drinking contest held at the Loud American Cafe in Sturgis SD. It was the most disgusting event I have ever laughed so hard at. The smell was worth the wait …..NOT! How many shots of gravy did the winner drink you ask? One hundred and one (101) and he is seen smiling like a Chesire cat. The second place finisher reversed his 100 shots of gravy back into a gravy recycling bucket just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. Read the full feature here to Murdoc 2

Black Friday Thursday News for Thanksgiving 2013

Turkeys Stuffed With Cheer, Family and Friends Along With Good Ole Jack.

By Bandit, Ray Wheeler, Bob T., Jim Waggaman, Mistress Chris, Richard Kranzler, RFR, Dr Feng, Sam Kanish, Art, and the rest of stalwart Bikernet crew.

Hey, As nuts as the world is we need to be thankful for what we have. In this wild crazy day and age, anyone can do anything. I’m not kidding. Unless you live in Iran, Syria, or maybe Egypt, you can go to school and do almost anything.

It’s a blessing and it has it’s drawbacks. Like our Bikernet Intern, Kyle, who is a journeyman electrician, a High School Volleyball coach, a restaurant maintenance man, and our underpaid Bikernet certified electrician. He can run a restaurant, build his electrical installation and repair business, become a coach, become a port union crane mechanic, or become a fireman, you name it.

So, what does he do? He chases girls, smokes cigarettes, and flits from one low-paying job to the next. Focus is the key, and he has a tough time deciding what to focus on.

For us mutts who are focused on motorcycles, we might not get rich, but we sure have a good time. Have a helluva Holiday.

Once in a While 45 Flathead

Have a 45 Flathead with your Sunday Morning Coffee

My friends always say to me that I have a great job, always on the road, shooting beautiful motorcycles, women, and action, and modest me always replies, “It’s a lot of work and long hours,” and it is, but there is no place on Earth that I’d rather be.

That being said, I was assigned to the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary this year in Milwaukee working for Bikerpros Media and their client, the World Famous AMD Show, at the H-D Museum under the big top.

The cool thing about this is, I get a front row seat to the terrific bikes wheeled in for the show. Now, antique bikes are something I really appreciate and one day would like to own. Paul Anderson rolled this beauty into the show. Its name is “Once in a While,” a 1946 Harley-Davidson Flathead 45. I just wanted to share this with you.

These 45 flatheads were very common, used in World War II and the drive trains powered cop trikes until the ‘70s. The first 45s took over for the total loss VL in ’37, the same year H-D Started to build 45 cubic inch, three wheeled Servi-cars.

This brief classic came to the Cantina courtesy of IronWorks Magazine.

Little River Drag Races in Texas

IMG_1328

Harley Drags Texas style with photos and text by Rigid Frame Richard.

For over 30 years there have been Harleys running at Little River Raceway just outside of Temple, Texas at summers end.

The past 30 years Red Roberts has held these drag races each year on Labor Day weekend, which allows for 3 days of racing fun. You do however have to fight the Texas heat. This year it was decided to move the event to October to relieve it from the normal first of September track melting heat!

And while the plan worked, the weekend also received early forecasts of rain, heavy at times. This seemed to keep several of the fuel boys at home and unfortunately some of the attendees. While it only rained a little on Saturday it was very brief and only caused a 20-minute delay at most. Although Mother Nature did start to get a bit grumpier by the days end, thankfully the fuel folks that were on hand had already done their qualifying runs.

Mount a GPS on Your Motorcycle Windshield

Mounting GPS on a motorcycle with the NEW Leader Windshield GPS Mount is as easy as it gets. All you do is remove the stud on your windshield and screw it on! Flats on two sides of the stem make it easy to use a wrench for tightening.

The 17mm ball (same size ball as a car mount) utilizes your stock GPS cradle or the socket-mounting hole on the back of your unit and rotates/tilts just as it does in your car! Fitment includes many Garmin Nuvi, Magellan Roadmate series, and other GPS models.

Unlike the competition, the Leader Windshield GPS Mount is made of polished stainless steel and manufactured IN THE USA. Total length is 2-3/8” – perfect for clearing the windshield “arc.”

Leader Motorcycle specializes in making the motorcyclist’s ride more convenient and comfortable. Our Gadgets division specializes in mounting kits for GPS, phone, iPod/MP3, radio, camera—even clocks and drink holders. Our Cold-Weather division manufactures the Desert Dawgs rain guards and Desert Digits Wind Deflectors to keep riders warm and dry. Manufacturing in the USA!
