BIKERNET BANNER ARRIVES IN DAYTONA FOR BIKETOBERFEST–The banner showed up early in Daytona but it was a couple of days before it could find some fine gals to hold its edges. ADLY MOTO LLC INTRODUCES ALL NEW TITAN 300 SHAFT DRIVE PTO EQUIPPED WATER-COOLED UTILITY ATV–Adly Moto also announces the arrival of the Italian designed Roxon brand.ADLY MOTO announced today the introduction of an all new 4X4 utility shaft drive ATV. According to Terry Nesbitt, Adly Moto VP, “we will formally introduce the latest edition to our product line at the GIE EXPO (Louisville Lawn and Garden Show) October 25-27. The Titan 300 with numerous unique features including shaft drive water-cooled 4-valve head engine with ceramic coated cylinder, all wheel independent torsion bar suspension, and an industry first secondary dual-range transmission with PTO is the beginning of a new segment in the ATV industry.
This state of the art new design utilizes a dual-range CVT along with a secondary dual-range transmission with front and rear differentials resulting in a mutli-faceted ATV with excellent towing capacity as well as the potential to obtain reasonable speeds. The secondary transmission provides 2.5 times more torque in order to maximize load capacity and reduce CVT wear.
The Adly Moto PTO System and separate disc brake offers many unique opportunities including an industry first shaft drive Power Trailer (900 pound load capacity) with an independent differential, hydraulic dump bed and independent suspension; ATV and Power Trailer become a 6 X 6. The PTO is quick disconnect and the differential compensates for L/R wheel speed thereby shortening the turning radius and enhancing the overall handling characteristics.”
Nesbitt also states, “Adly Moto is now the exclusive distributor for the Roxon brand. The Roxon Bullet 125 Dirt Bike is an Italian designed product with an excellent reputation for performance, quality and style. The Bullet 125 utilizes a girder type frame with numerous alloy and billet component parts and is available in both Dirt Bike and Super Moto styles.”

BIKERNET ALASKAN ADVENTURE COMING– Testing which Buells, the Uly & TT?? What is that place (Fleet Center) where you get your project bikes?? Is that a H-D demo distribution deal for the Magazines out in Ca.?? We just got a 08′ Buell Uly in. One of the mechanics here bought it. Sold his Dyna for the cash to buy it!! The Uly would be a great ride for you goin to Alaska. You won’t be as cramped as the M2 Badlands Buell was.
For me, I like the Kawi KLR. Best bang for the buck around!! A used Buell blast bought cheap would make a great Dual Sport Project. I also like a mid to late 90’s Sportster with Dual Sport suspension.
We had a customer take a Sportster, setup as a Dual Sport to Alaska. It had BMW type off road bags on it. He also carried a extra rear tires, tools etc. with him. The guy was a local from Charlotte in his ’60s!!

Within the next two weeks we will have an initial plan, maps and dates for the Bikernet Alaskan Adventure 2008.–Bandit
HELMET RALLIES WERE THE PATH TO FREEDOM–How may helmet laws have been repealed in the last 10 years (not counting the perversion of principal in accepting insurance compromise, such as in Florida, Kentucky and Texas)? We repealed something like 29 state laws in 1977 and ’78.
A call to action is needed and it’s needed now. Even more necessary is for leadership to stop resisting these actions which have worked in the past and will work now. The membership has been corralled long enough. Turn the people loose and lead them to the streets. Wake up the legislature in your state to the fact the “people” effected by helmet laws don’t want them.

RED WING MOTORCYCLES LAUNCHED BY AEROSMITH FRONT MAN–RED Wing Motorcycles is the name of the new custom motorcycle manufacturing business founded by Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler in collaboration with engineer Mark Dirico and AC Custom Motorcycles.A press release from the company states: “Red Wing Motorcycles are the fusion of rock and roll artistry and superior engineering. Imbued with Tyler’s sense of style, each motorcycle is as comfortable to ride as it is sexy.”
Red Wing Motorcycles debuted its new designs, the Retro and ProStreet models, at the New Hampshire International Speedway’s Sylvania 300, and they are now available from Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire Harley-Davidson dealerships.
Talking about the bikes he designed, Tyler said: “You get on one of these bikes and you can ride for days. These bikes are sick, rugged, and just damn cool, and they’re amazing to look at!”
Each bike is backed by an extensive warranty and can be fully serviced by local Harley dealers. Bikes will be available in partnership with select dealerships across the East Coast through 2008 with a national-roll out planned later that year.
RED WING MOTORCYCLES CHOPPER BICYCLES AVAILABLE–They are all very solid, well crafted bikes. They can hold a 250lb person and ride really smooth. They are all the same style and come ineither black or red. I just take each one and trick ’em out/customized themin different ways and sell ’em. I have gotten great responses from all who come across them.My bikes and apparel will be available there for now and through the sitewhen complete. I know myspace is huge so that should work out fine for themoment. –A Z ART EXHIBIT OF THE WEEK– Here’s my pic of the week for ya… The bike is (formerly) my ’62 panhead. The decoration is Paige. ‘Nuff said. Have a good week. –Z Eastwood TATTOO BIKE HELPS WOUNDED WARRIORS– Bandit got on the horn, “Hey I need more details on the auction of Brass Balls Bobbers’ tattoo bobber and the Wounded Warrior Project for Thursday the news.” I wiped the drool off my mouth and the sleep from my eyes as I put the bottle of Jack on the floor before it spilled. “Ok, ok, ok? “Limme think, the auction is underway and someone is going to get the tattoo bobber that was built on Speed’s V-Twin TV he/she show and will be profiled in January 2008 Easyriders Magazine. I don’t know anything about the Wounded Warrior Project except that some of the proceeds of the Brass Balls Bobbers eBay auction go to this charity,” I said to Bandit. “Well get to it and get me the info asap!” So I called Catherine Pillsbury at the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and found out that it is run by a bunch of gung-ho Bandit-types with programs to help service members and their families immediately following injury, and during their convalescence and rehabilitation. After I got the details I shot Bandit an email with a link to the WWP that I put up in the BBB department. I also sent him a link on the Brass Balls Bobber Tattoo Bobber on eBay. –Mouser Continued On Page 3

What the hell?
There’s more going on than I could shake an 80-spoke wheel at. Biketoberfest is scrambling, Bike clubs are leaving the Hawaiian Islands, another new motorcycle manufacturer is starting, a town in Florida tried to outlaw bikes and new bike products are popping up everywhere.
Of course Bikernet is trying to make all these transitions as easy as possible. We’re working with JIMS machine to bring you all the special tools you need to accomplish your job. Watch for the techs coming up.
Let’s hit the news, I’ve got to jump on a plane for Hawaii to check out the club scene and be there for Deacon’s Grand Opening of Pro Street Custom Cycles on the Windward side on Sunday the 21st from 1-5. I’m going to bring a batch of photos of the Assalt Weapan, if you want a shot of the World’s Fastest Panhead signed by the guy who swept the shop on Wednesdays-no problem. Let’s hit the news:

IS CARB (CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD) OUT OF CONTROL?–I spoke to Todd Erdmann today (Owner of TMCC, Thunder Mountain Custom Motorcycles) about the CARB settlement he just paid (See below). It was just as I thought. TMCC inadvertently sent ’07 motorcycles to CA dealers with ’06 engines and ’06 CARB engine labeling. It was an oversight, not an intentional action. Todd believes a disgruntled past employee contacted CARB to blow the whistle. The motorcycles had the proper pollution control equipment, but the wrong engine label and the ’07 paperwork wasn’t submitted. In effect, TMCC paid $257,000 for a paperwork and labeling error. There never was a pollution issue. Adding more pain to this situation, TMCC’s San Diego, Orange County and San Clemente dealers canceled their TMCC franchise, even though TMCC paid all of CARB’s fines against its CA dealers. It is my opinion that CARB is out of control and will not stop their collection of ill-gotten gains until the industry fights back… HARD. They don’t care about air quality as much as they care about collecting fines. When are we going to say enough is enough? SEMA just won a fight with CA where the state wanted to do annual tests on 15-year old and older vehicles. I think we need to join forces with SEMA, the combination of the MIC and SEMA could be formidable.Additionally, there are a few good senators who want to float a bill to protect the vintage car and rodding community. They hope to pass Federal legislature that provides a path to build and title these vehicles. Why can’t we support them in their fight and add motorcycles to the mix?I recommend that the MIC discuss this matter in the next meetings of the MIC Aftermarket Committee and American V-Twin Committee.
GoTo: http://www.arb.ca.gov/enf/casesett/casesett.htm for an update on the settlements CARB has collected. Note the $1,000,000 settlement against Dynojet. I believe Dynojet is still an MIC member. How many more MIC members will pay the price of a corrupt CARB?

NEW FUEL INJECTION TUNING FROM S&S EZFI–Sometimes you just need a little extra help in tuning a bike. The addition of a high flow air cleaner and slip-on mufflers or a complete exhaust system can alter the flow characteristics of a fuel injected bike just enough to make the air/fuel ratio less than desirable. Adding or subtracting fuel is a necessity, but the minimal amount may not be enough to justify a complete fuel injection system replacement. This is where the S&S EZFI comes into play.
With simple adjustments handled with buttons and a screwdriver, you can add fuel where your bike needs it-and remove fuel where you don’t! Additionally the S&S EZFI impacts only fuel delivery, it makes no changes to the other stock ECM functions like turn signals, instruments or safety functions.
This add-on module is waterproof, requires no crimping or soldering of wires for installation and has available software (EZTune software) that allows you to custom tune separate front and rear cylinder maps using the S&S diagnostic cable (PN 55-1271). The EZFI is available to fit all Harley-Davidson motorcycles equipped with Delphi? fuel-injection including closed-loop models.
PN 106-0890 MSRP $189.95
BIKERNET PRODUCT OF THE WEEK–Guy goes in an adult store and asks for an inflatable doll.
Guy Behind the counter says, “Male or female?”
Customer says, “Female.”
Counter guy asks, “Black or white?
Customer says, “White.”
Counter guy asks, “Christian or Muslim?”
Customer says, “What does religion have to do with it?”
Counter guy says, “The Muslim one blows itself up.”
FORK TRUSS SUPPORTS FROM CCE–Our fork truss is truly a performance part. It dramatically improves front-end handling. The engineering design and sleek styling are obvious characteristics in this part. The compound arc, which sweeps upward and rearward simultaneously, imparts greater resistance to deflection, twisting and bending of the fork. The upward arch also provides additional fender clearance. The addition of large diameter holes spaced out to a maximum strength calculation helps keep unsprung weight to a minimum.
Installation is very simple and the disassembly of the front-end is not necessary. These trusses are designed to bolt securely to the lower sliders. Trusses are machined out of solid billet aluminum and can be purchased in a polished or chrome finish.

Your website helped me deal with the stress with being on deployments for example Guatanamo Bay, Cuba, Okinawa and Japan. When I was on deployment the only way I ever got to see choppers and bobbers was through your website and through the Horse Backstreet Choppers. I had my mother send the magazines to me every month. Now that I’m in California, I’ll be here for 3 yrs, as a Navy Instructor teaching Electrical Construction, I almost got sent to Iraq but lucky for me someone else filled the spot. But I’ll get my chance to go over there.

FLORIDA BIKE DEAL OF THE WEEK–Thought maybe you could post this somewhere for us.It’s a gorgeous bike and needs a new home.He will deliver!
It’s called Burnt Sunshine.Richard Castagna got a good deal on the whole drive train and motor kit from Southern Motorcycles Works out of Virginia for his next build. He haughtily speaks that the 2005 Ultima 113 inch motor along with its sister Ultima six speed transmission that pulls more torque, is less problematical and was much less expensive than the countless kits he researched before he purchased anything. Then he added a super G S&S carb for absolutely no breathing problems, a HI-4 Crane ignition and some swap meet specials like the exhaust pipes, lower legs and a freebie headlight, Richard was ready to rock and roll on this metal flake copper chopper.
There’s a hint of influence from the early Billy Lane days. This ride is indeed, modern and yes, different. Check out the low lying handlebars, reminiscent of the ones seen on a Discovery Channel Build Off between Lane and Indian Larry. They are, along with the fuel tank and rear fender, all one-of-a-kind pieces from South Florida fabricator Jerry Graves. The frame is also modified by Graves, with its geometric holes in the front slanted down tube. Also traditional cool, and space saving, is the oil tank in the front half of the rear fender which significantly opens up the space between motor and frame. A Brighton frame never looked so fresh.
Richard has live in South Florida since 1974. He opened his own tattoo shop in 1998. Knowledgeable and consistent about being healthy, Richard has been a body builder for several years, and says he’s fighting the aging process all the way! His new age heavy metal custom chop is a lot of entertainment for the man who actually built it in his garage. It turns a lot of heads, and Richard’s unassuming demeanor by no means falters at all the attention. His girlfriend, Jerilyn Scott, enjoys spending time with her man, whether it’s at the tattoo shop, on the road or posing for these pictures.
Richard credits John McAteer at Red Devil Cycles in Stuart with help in the “very little” wiring process. The alligator seat is from local upholstery master Scott Valentine, of Dead Animal Seats. Its real alligator and sits nicely solo atop the custom frame. The only good gator is a dead gator.
Richard wants to acknowledge Jerry Graves for all his skillful works and Chris McKevitt for laying down the metal flake House of Kolor Mother of the Sea Creature Pearl and Orange which reminds Richard of those early sixties toilet seats.
It is now for sale so he can build yet another piece of riding pie. You can own it when you call Richard’s cell at 772-215-7180 or Gothic City in Stuart, Florida 772-288-1633. Tell him I sent you.

THE BIKERNET VETENERY CLINIC SEMINAR– A little girl asked her Mom, ‘Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?’
Mom replies, ‘No, because she is in heat.’
‘What’s that mean?’ asked the child.
‘Go ask your father. I think he’s in the garage.’
The little girl goes to the garage and says, ‘Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you.’
Dad said, ‘Bring Belle over here.’ He took a rag, soaked it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog’s backside with it to disguise the scent, and said ‘OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time round the block.’
The little girl left and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the leash.
Surprised, Dad asked, ‘Where’s Belle?’
The little girl said, ‘She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home.’

TRANSFERABLE PLATES FOR MOTORCYCLES IN CANADA–In November of 2003 after presenting a proposal to ICBC, the B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists and Blair Lekstrom, M.L.A. Peace River South were told that transferable plates for motorcyclists were “doable” and would be available in January 2005. After sending out press releases to that effect the Coalition was then informed that with the take over of the B.C. Utility Commission as the new regulator of ICBC the deal was off.
The Transferable Plate Program consists of strict rules to which motorcyclists must adhere to be eligible, for further info go to www.bccom-bc.com. Over the winter we are going to be pushing very hard to try and make this happen. If you would like to see this program implemented please sign our petition to be presented to the Provincial Government, The Honorable John Les, Solicitor General and Minister of ICBC, and the Insurance Corporation of B.C.
The petition will be available at the BCCOM booth at the Vancouver Toy Run on October 7th. If you are unable to attend the Toy Run we will also have the petition available at different events that we are attending coming up, including the Vancouver Motorcycle Show, January 24-27 at the Tradex in Abbotsford. If you are not planning to attend either of these events yet feel that you could get 100 signatures or more in your community. Please let us know and we can send you the forms. TEXAS NATIONAL BIKE SHOW MOVED TO NOBLIQUE STUDIOS– Not a typical gallery, not a typical studio, not typical at all really, the Nic Noblique Studio Gallery is an environment to inspire, educate, and simply enrich the community in a provocative, raw, and utterly uninhibited way. New to Galveston Island, Nic Noblique has relocated his art studio from Abilene, Texas to a 5,000 square foot warehouse space at 2527 Mechanic Street. More than just Noblique?s personal studio space, the warehouse contains a huge gallery showroom, skate ramp, and tattoo studio. As he explains, “this space is really the culmination of everything I enjoy, everything that inspires me” the studio gallery is an extension of everything that makes me tick and I want anyone and everyone to just come and explore and look at art and what art is from a broader lense.
The studio gallery?s most recent addition is The Tattoo Uprising by renowned Tattoo Artist Teri Turrentine, hailing from Northern California, now opening the third and most unique Tattoo Studio of her professional career of 14-years. Tattoo Uprising is located inside the Nic Noblique Studio Gallery in its own sculptural building designed and built by Noblique and Turrentine to mimic the motion and flow of the giant steel sculptures that grace the main floor of the gallery.
Things are really shaping up this year, we have open registration going on as we speak
See you at the show!

THE CRAZED LAWS INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT OF BIKERNET.COM–Mileage-Based Road User Charges Coming Soon? The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration has funded an expensive pay-as-you-drive research, development, and evaluation project with the thought to implementing such a program in the not-too-distant future.

BIKERNET EDITOR DISCOVERS OSAMA BIN LADEN–While trying to escape through Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden found a bottle on the sand and picked it up.Suddenly, a female Genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said, “Master, may I grant you one wish?”
Osama responded, “You ignorant, unworthy daughter-of-a-dog! Don’t you know who I am? I don’t need any common woman giving me anything.”
The shocked Genie said, “Please, I must grant you a wish or I will be returned to the bottle forever!”
Osama thought a moment, then grumbled about the impertinence of the woman and said, “Very well, I want to awaken with three American women in my bed in the morning. So just do it and be off with you.”
The annoyed Genie said, “So be it!” and disappeared.
The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbitt, Tonya Harding, and Hillary Clinton at his side. His penis was gone, his knees were broken, and he had no health insurance!

CANADIAN RIDERS SURVIVES RUN HOME FROM ARIZONA SMOKE OUT–Hey man, I finally made it home. Awesome trip with great weather the whole way, until around Seattle, then it got wet, but no biggy on the road soffa.
I will send a few of the shots I took via email, and then put them all on a disk and shoot them off in the next day or so. I came home through Zion Park, man that place is unreal. After leaving Sedona, there was a lady who flopped over dead at a look out I was at, and people doing CPR for like almost an hour. Very sad indeed. Her family was all there by her side when the medics arrived to take over the cpr. It reminded me of how fragile life can be.
Once again, thanks for letting me be part of the adventure. I had an unbelievable trip. Got to meet some great people, and hanging with Bandit and crew for a few days was the best.
I am working on a couple of stories. One about the sidecar adventure with the kids, and another about the Smokeout. I will shoot them to you asap.
Watching the rain pour down from my office window, dreaming of cruizing the AZ desert…

SHE WAS A TEN AT TWO AND A TWO AND TEN–Wait till you read the Smoke Out report from the road leading from Parker, Arizona to Cottonwood, Arizona. We’ve got some slick slogans, wild stories and dusty boots.
This weekend I plan to run through all the Bonneville 2007 chapters and make sense outta them for the Wolfgang book. That’s the major project, but we have some other surprises including a monster Softail Tech from the Wolfgang book mentioned in the news. We also have two new Girls of Bikernet waiting in the wings. Do you want the blonde hottie on the European chopper or another tortured and tattooed broad from Denver? What’s Curt do to these broads?
Plus I’ll work with Lee Clemens on a Bonne Belle tech, and I’m waiting for some info from John Green and some shots of Ralph Randolph’s Knockout bike. Steve Blevins won it at the ER Chillocothe Rodeo and it’s a sharp scooter. More features are coming from the Troll family and Route 66 Choppers, an Australian builder, plus a wild Japanese built H-D Shovelhead from right here in LA. Hang on.
Hell, the W8less rotors are in. We have a Smoke Out Torrian Vest road test and a set of travelin’ tools from Starwest. Did I say slow down?
Let’s ride

BIKERNET IRAQI VETERAN SPS PROJECT TO BE GIVEN TO SOLDIER IN DAYTONA–After working 10 hours yesterday at my regular job, I was elated to find the parts you sent me sitting on my front patio. I immediately grabbed them up and carted everything to Lucky Devil’s Metal Works in Houston, where we worked until 4:30 this morning.
I would have kept going, but I had to come back to my regular job and do 8 hours today. At this time, the H-D drivetrain is in, SPS oilbag set, coil and ignition wired in, and the front end is assembled and hanging from the neck.
Thanks again, and watch for updates on Bikernet.com. I will also have an in depth tech piece on the build in several issues of Hot Bike in the coming months followed by a full bike feature. I can’t wait to see my brother’s face on October 20, at the Hard Rock Roadhouse at Biketoberfest, he will be amazed. The bike is flying together.

JUDGE AGREES TO HEAR MOTION IN BILLY LANE CASE– VIERA – A Brevard County circuit judge Wednesday agreed to hear a defense motion to retest blood samples taken from motorcycle builder Billy Lane, but she did not schedule a date for the hearing, attorneys said.
Officials said Judge Meryl Allawas also will schedule a hearing on the state’s motion to access Lane’s medical records in its quest to convict Lane on one count of DUI manslaughter.
Police say Lane, 37, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 – more than twice the legal limit – when while driving his Dodge Ram pickup he crossed a double yellow line on State Road A1A to pass several vehicles and struck 56-year-old Sebastian Inlet park ranger Gerald Morelock’s Yamaha mini-motorcycle head-on.
Lane faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted in connection with the Sept. 4, 2006, incident. His trial is expected to begin in early 2008.
Lane attorney Gregory Eisenmenger recently filed a motion asking Allawas to throw out Lane’s blood alcohol results on the basis that a failure by police to refrigerate the samples may have led to contamination that created a false high alcohol level.
Eisenmenger also asked that his own toxicologist be allowed to retest the samples. Prosecutors objected Wednesday to the blood being sent to a Colorado lab rather than a local one.
Lane’s next court date is a Nov. 6 docket sounding.

RENEGADE FROM BIKERNET OFFERS GAMBLING LESSONS–It was little Johnny’s first day in a new school, so his father looked up the teacher. He told her that little Johnny was a good kid but that he was an avid gambler. He warned her that little Johnny might win lunch money from the other kids if he was not watched closely.
The teacher did not seem disturbed, assured the father that she had handled many such problems and was very capable of taking care of little Johnny’s urge to gamble.
Shortly after lunch, the father called the teacher and asked her how things were going.
“Oh, everything is going very well.” She said. “I think I may have cured little Johnny of his gambling habit.”
The father asked her what had happened.
“The little tyke absolutely insisted on betting me ten dollars that I had a mole on my rear.” She said. “I finally agreed to the bet and took him to the teacher’s lounge to show him that I had no mole.”
“Damn!” The father said. “He bet me fifty dollars this morning that he would see the teacher’s ass before the day was over.”

PUERTO RICO PASSES STRICT BIKE LAWS–Where can you find the strictest government regulations on motorcyclists in the United States? Not in any of the 50 states, but in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.
A measure recently signed into law by the governor of Puerto Rico will require riders to wear not only a helmet, but also gloves, boots, and long pants. After dark, riders must wear a reflective vest, and the law also tightens age restrictions on riders and imposes new testing requirements.
In some ways, the law is even more restrictive than the requirements on many U.S. military bases.Legislative sponsors said the law was a response to increasing numbers of motorcycle fatalities on the Caribbean island.
Between 2000 and 2005, the number of motorcycles and scooters registered in Puerto Rico more than doubled. Several factors encourage motorcycle use, including the year-round riding weather and the congestion of nearly 4 million residents on a 3,500-square-mile island. In general, gasoline is slightly more expensive than in the 50 states, while average household incomes are lower than in any of the states. In that environment, sales of inexpensive Chinese-built scooters have boomed in recent years as more residents in the crowded San Juan metropolitan area turned to them for affordable and fun transportation, in addition to steady sales of full-size motorcycles.
“This considerable increase in the purchase and use of motorcycles as an alternative means of transportation has brought with it an unprecedented increase in motorcycle accidents, and, at the same time, a dramatic increase in deaths from those accidents,” the legislation states. The new requirements include:
Puerto Rico already required helmet use, but the new law also requires gloves, boots that cover the ankles, and long pants. Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., riders and passengers must wear a reflective vest.
Riders must be 18 years of age, and passengers must be at least 12.
New riders must pass a test on the first try to obtain a motorcycle endorsement. If they do not pass, they have to take a government-approved training course.
The law adds motorcyclists to the list of school bus drivers, truck drivers, and heavy equipment operators who are subject to a legal blood-alcohol limit of 0.02 percent, instead of the 0.08 percent limit applied to car drivers.
The law specifically prohibits lane-sharing, an accepted practice in Puerto Rico that can easily cut in half the time of a rush-hour commute in the San Juan area.
The law imposes an additional $10 charge for taking the motorcycle endorsement test and an additional $10 charge for renewing an annual motorcycle registration.
The law takes effect in October. It calls for the creation of eight training centers around the island to license new riders and budgets $250,000 to start the program. But it’s not likely the centers will be running by the time the law takes effect.
Owners of currently registered motorcycles are allowed to continue riding, but will have to comply with the new licensing requirements when they renew their drivers licenses. The law essentially moves Puerto Rico from having less stringent regulations than most states to having more restrictive requirements than any of the 50 states. Previously, motorcyclists in Puerto Rico were not required to pass a riding test and get a motorcycle endorsement unless they wanted to use the island’s toll highways.

WATCH THE LOCAL COPS DON’T STEAL YOUR BIKE WHILE AT BIKETOBERFEST–I went to Daytona Biketoberfest in October of ’06 and let me tell anyone who is thinking of going ….WATCH THE COPS DON’T TRY TO STEAL YOUR BIKE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF STATE OR FROM CANADA. If you have a custom ride make sure you take all the receipts for the work you have had done on your bike, any modification or removal of your vin or anti theft numbers on various parts of your bike could be deemed as contraband under Florida law and the cops will take your bike.
Like me I went down to have the time of my life and ended up being the vacation from hell. The first day in Daytona my bike (’89 Fxr Lowrider) was seized by the Volusia county sheriffs and the Florida Hi-Way Patrol (my triple tree was aftermarket and had no anti theft number). They were not very co-operative with me and had my bike for approximately 6 months claiming that it contained contraband parts, yet under the state statue they had 5 days to notify me by registered mail of their intent to seize….they did not.
They broke their own law by not notifying me and yet still almost 70 days later I was still in the dark as to why they had my bike. I contacted a lawyer in Tallahassee his name was John Minnick and after telling him what I was going through he was able to assist me in the return of my ride. Several different attorneys told me that if I had surrendered title of my bike, (meaning I did not fight for my bike) they under Florida law had the right to title it as state property and sell it at an auction. The builders and future owners of these engines/motorcycles will receive a certificate and medallion commemorating the historic pedigree of their specific serial number. “This year’s project is very special because it involved major commitments from 50 different builders from around the world,” said S&S president, Brett Smith.”The amount of time and effort involved in making a project like this a success is extraordinary and we cannot thank those that are supporting it enough. Not only are the builders committed, but the entire La Crosse and Seven Rivers Region community, countless sponsors, and S&S employees are all working hard to ensure that this celebration is successful and fun for everyone.” The builders will come from Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Holland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand Sweden and the United States. The quality of the bikes which enter can be gauged by the fact that seven builders who exhibited at the 2006 Cool-Breaker show then went on to travel to Sturgis in 2007 for the World Championship, and all placed well, including the show’s winner Kenji Nagai of Ken’s Factory. In addition, there will also be the Best of Builders Award supported by S&S and a ride-in show contest. Well the other day, for example, I went downtown and walked into a camera store. I was only in there for about 5 minutes and when I came out there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, “Come on, man, how about giving a retired union man a break?” He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a “Nazi.” He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a “doughnut eating Gestapo.” He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn’t care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said “W 04.” I try to have a little fun each day now that I’m retired. It’s important to my health. –N.R. NEW PARTS COMING TO BIKERNET–Just want you to know I haven’t forgotten about you. I appreciate you calling me back last week and look forward to getting with you on my parts for show on Bikernet, and just in general making another friend thru Larry. I have been waiting on the primo pulley form Berry so I could cut yours and his at the same time, well being honest so my jobber could cut them in the same run. Well I got it today, I’ve already designed the primo unit and the files hopefully go on the table to get cut tomorrow. You should be seeing yours within about a week, I am still trying to get some press release stuff together on my parts to send on a cd at the same time. I just can’t wait till you get the pulley lock-down device, actually, just to see what you say. BTW Check these pics out, I think this may be your speed. These showed up courtesy of Clean Dean last year in Biker. It’s the hotrod I spoke of that is for sale. And yeh I ride it, hard, frequently like nearly daily. –Kirk W. The AMD and World Championship organizing team is now very proud to be able to have added the Bigtwin Bike Show to the growing list of worldwide events that are such an important part of the World Championship program. As with most of the World Championship Affiliate custom bike shows, the Zodiac sponsored Bigtwin Bike Show is an ‘open’ and ‘ride-in’ event – all the motorcycles entered must be capable of being ridden in order to collect prizes, and entry is open to industry professionals as well as private/consumer builders. In addition to the collections from English Formula 1 mogul Bernie Ecclestone and Italian businessman Giuseppe Prevosti RM is featuring the cars of Abraham “Abba” Kogan in it’s inaugural London sale to be held at Battersea Park on October 31st. “Our second European auction after our legendary start in Maranello in May will establish us in the center of European classic car business”, confirms Fairbairn. Kogan’s collection is centered around some of the most fascinating engineering masterpieces of the motorsports world, from the headlining Delage 15-S-8 that was one of the four twin supercharged factory team cars that swept Grand Prix racing in the 1927 season, to a selection of fascinating sports cars, including the Cisitalia 202 SMM that won its class championship six years running, and the OSCA 2000S – the fastest and prettiest OSCA of all and one of just five examples built. The 1936 Delage, a 3 litre D6 was raced not only in its early days with an enviable record of success, but remained on the race track 1951, competing in 1949 in the 24 Hours of LeMans as a 13 year old car. With a continuous history from new, this remarkable Delage offers a provenance otherwise nearly impossible to find. For most of his life, Abba Kogan has been fascinated by cars, and driven to collect, restore, drive, and enjoy them. He is drawn to machines that exhibit innovation in both engineering and beauty – but always within the context of their time: what is now conventional was once revolutionary. It is the search for such cars that has been the driving force behind the Kogan Collection, the philosophy that connects a Ferrari 288 GTO with a Grand Prix Delage race car – or an OSCA 2000 with a Renault RE30 F1 car. ON BIKERNET.COM RIGHT NOW–I sent the photos and text about the new Walz Hard Core motorcycle and Ferrari. This special project is until now unseen combination of a radical hardcore custom bike and a matching ferrari f 430. All photos shoot are courtesy from Walz Hard Core Cycles. Sucker Punch Sallys – For All The Work He And His Wife Have Done In Support Of Our Troops.
Motorcycling’s ambassador– By his lifestyle alone Bean’re exemplifies what it means to be a true original. He is one of a kind and honestly an individual. You’ll never see Bean’re when he’s in a bad mood or not willing to spend some time rapping to people.
Marjorie, Shadow, Kleiman
She rides, she gets it and she participates on the same fundamental level that most of us do. Marge has great wisdom in her offerings and is as in touch with this scene from a journalists stand point as anyone going today.
S&S Cycle’s X-Wedge
This product was the only truly unique offering to the American V-Twin industry this year. On top of that, it marked a turning point for the whole aftermarket V-twin industry in its struggles with the EPA.
First wet primary drive system from the aftermarket.
The smoothness of the engine compared with the horsepower gives you high performance that doesn’t have the same characteristics as most other high-pro engines we’ve ridden.
A must have for high milers. On top of the additional cooling and filtering features, this product allows for an additional full quart of oil to be added to the system.
Shady Mayhem
Simple, easy going, and a ton of fun.
The Gypsy Tour
Like taking a step back in time. Just some cats havin’ a blast doing what they loved.
Pat Patterson
Led Sled Customs A master fabricator by nature, Pat has also set a pace for the industry this year by fabbing parts that are for stock modification. That is, providing parts to the aftermarket that are intended for altering stock chassis. In these trying economic times and with the next generation coming in, this has been a big movement in the parts business and we believe Pat is ahead of the curve in that regard. Also for his vision, his natural ability to look at things like a truck hood and see how it could be made into a gas tank for a bike. He keeps Led Sleds small scale, not commercialized, not industrialized.
Blings Cycles – Every bike we’ve seen of Bill’s this year has been way off the hook. He has cornered the market on the flat track/ dual sport styling that has come into the American motorcycle scene in 2007.
Leroy Thompson Choppers – The LTC duo took it to ’em on the real side during the Discovery Biker Build Off. The level of hand customizing that they put into their entry, “Ethyl” was unparalleled.
The 2008 Harley-Davidson Nightster
Since this bike was a Mid-year release we decided to include it in the 2007 line-up. The Nightster was a real bench mark for Harley-Davidson and the industry.
Saxon’s Mad Jack
Designed By Gard Hollinger, this bike exemplifies the cross culture that the next generation is bringing into the American motorcycle scene today.
With 60’s retro styling and a good price point we think SPS hit it right on the head with this bike. Appealing to a younger demographic by design and economics, this was the bike everyone was waiting for this year.

Hey,
I need some input. Sin Wu keeps complaining about my non-stop reflections on the industry and the projects in our lives. “It’s too harried,” she stammered while I tried to talk her out of her clothes. “You’ve got too much going. You need to relax.”
Sure we have a project or 15 and a deadline or several, but I’m kicking back. It’s the nature of our lives and the industry. At least I sense a constant buzz. There’s more events, action, bikes, products, and dealers than ever before. How the hell can anyone keep up? Whatta you tink? Drop me a line: Bandit@bikernet.com. I know, you don’t have time.
Let’s hit the news:
- “I need for you to find out what Dar Holdsworth at Brass Balls Bobbers is doing with the Wounded Warrior Project and the company’s RAD tattoo motorbike on eBay,” barked Bandit.
“Ok, Ok, and a good morning to you, I said.”
You see, Bandit loves all things Bobber and he loves that one-of-a-kind Tattoo Bobber with the killer Indian engine. It was built on Speed’s V-Twin TV show and he is excited that it is coming available on eBay today.
I scooted over to www.brassballsbobbers.com and dialed 405.285.0808. While the phone was ringing I notice that on their website the baseline custom bobber starts at just $16,995, not bad!
Anyway, I got a hold of Dar, Master Motorcycle Designer and Brass Balls Bobbers Head Honcho, and he explained that the tattoo bike is a one-off custom bobber motorcycle that he and partner Sam Wills designed. “It’s low, fast and completely sano. It’s got everything you need and absolutely nothing that you don’t.” (I pulled together the details here.)
So I pressed him, “There’s a rumor that you are selling it?”
“Well, it wins awards wherever it goes and is our flagship bobber at Brass Balls Bobbers. We have over $55,000 in this baby and anything north of $35,000 would make us happy.
Damned, this is one special motorbike and a guy just might be able to get a steal of a deal. Dar went on to explain that a portion of the proceeds goes to the Wounded Warrior Project. In addition, the auction starts on October 10 and interested bikers should check www.brassballsbobbers.com for the eBay link.
BIKERNET FAMILY COUNSELING– “An extraordinarily handsome man decided he had theresponsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce beautiful children beyond compare.
With that as his mission he began to search for the perfect woman.
Shortly there after he met a man who had three stunning, gorgeous daughters that positively took his breath away. So he explained his mission to the man and asked for permission to marry one of them.
The man simply replied, “They’re lookin’ to get married,so you came to the right place. Look ’em over and pick the one you want.”
The man dated the first daughter. The next day the father asked for the man’s opinion.
“Well,” said the man, “she’s just a weeeeee bit, not that you can hardly notice…pigeon-toed.”
The father nodded and suggested the man date one of the other girls; so the man went out with the second daughter.
The next day, the father again asked how things went.
“Well,” the man replied, “she’s just a weeeee bit, not that you can hardly tell…cross-eyed.”
The father nodded and suggested he date the third girlto see if things might be better So he did.
The next morning the man rushed in exclaiming,
“She’s perfect, just perfect. She’s the one I want to marry.”
So they were wed right away. Months later the baby was born. When the man visited the nursery he was horrified: the baby was the Ugliest, most pathetic human you can imagine. He rushed to his father-in-law and asked how such a thing could happen considering the beauty of the parents.
“Well,” explained the father-in-law… “She was just a weeeee bit, not that you could hardly tell… pregnant when you met her.”

ADVANCED CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY AND FABRICATION BY WOLFGANG PUBLISHING–What started in the mid-’90s when a few people decided to build “stock Softails” from aftermarket parts – because they couldn’t buy one at the dealer – has evolved into a full blown industry. Today, every small town has a Chopper or Custom bike shop and every cable TV channel has a Biker-Build-Off series. No longer content to build copies of stock motorcycles, today’s builder wants a motorcycle that’s longer, lower and sexier than anything approved by a factory design team.
Wolfgang Publications and Timothy Remus were there at the very beginning of the trend with their Ultimate V-Twin Motorcycle book. Today they’re back with their new book, Advanced Custom Motorcycle Assembly & Fabrication. Part catalog, part service manual and part inspiration, this new book offers help with Planning the project, getting the right look and actually assembling that custom bike you’ve dreamed about for years.
Three start-to-finish sequences show not just how the best bikes are bolted together, but how the unique one-off gas tanks are shaped and then covered with candy brandywine paint. With 144 pages and over 400 color photos, this book from Wolfgang Publications and Tim Remus offers the help you need to build your very own custom motorcycle. FIFTH ANNUAL CHOPPER’S ART SHOW TO BENEFIT DENVER BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB, TAKING PLACE AT THE CAPSULE IN DENVER, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20TH–Denver, COLO- September 20, 2007 – Denver 81 announced today their fifth annual Chopper’s Art Show to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver, will take place Saturday, October 20 at a new location, the Capsule Art and Event Center, located at 560 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, Colorado. This year will focus on how tattoo design, rock-n-roll art, hot rods and motorcycle lifestyle art all influence and play off each other.
The show will feature several artists and motorcycle builders, free parking and a reception party with Alan Forbes and other guest artists, including a signing by Forbes at 8:30 pm. The Capsule will have several bikes from Pistol Pete of Front Range Choppers on display, as well as bikes by Billy Lane and Albright Bikes, and will feature an art auction with pieces from a number of different mediums.
Motorcycle lifestyle photography, art from local tattoo artists, hot rod art and album covers are some of the mediums that will be presented. Several photographs from local and national artists such as Michael Lichter, Steve Temple and Curt Lout, are being donated and will available for purchase by auction, with all of the profits benefiting The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver.
In addition to the art on display, live pin-striping demonstrations by Joe “Brox” will take place throughout the day. There will also be original art on display that will not be available for purchase from private collections from artists like Timothy White, Joe Richardson and Von Dutch.
“The theme of this year is how rock album art relates to tattoos and how that relates back to motorcycle design. There’s been an evolution with hot rods, rock and roll, tattoos and motorcycles to where they are all intertwined artistically. Everyone will enjoy seeing how the bikes compliment the art and vice versa,” said event coordinator, Nik.
The Fifth Annual Choppers Art Show will take place one day only, Saturday, Oct. 20. The gallery hours will be Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Suggested donation to the exhibit is $10.

THREAT TO OUR FREEDOM–NTSB bulletin encouraging people to write to their state legislators to encourage helmet laws. Please take this threat very serious! It appears NHTSA has found someone to lobby for them! For an organization that has only investigated 6 motorcycle crashes they sure are using these stretched stats to make these outrageous claims! We all know that wearing a helmet does not mean that a person survives a 60 mph crash! How about if all car drivers wear a helmet as well since the majority of those killed in car crashes die from head trauma? If they make everyone wear a helmet then inattentive drivers don’t have to pay attention right???? A government agency that runs on my tax dollars has no business lobbying to change my state law! Please write to your state legislators and let them know that may get false statistics thrown at them pushing for helmet laws and that you are against both a mandatory helmet law and government agencies being allowed to lobby for law changes. They should only be able to speak on behalf of their expertise which in this case the NTSB does not have in this arena Vicki Roberts-Sanfelipo, RN/EMT 2 into 2 JUG HUGGERS– Jug Huggers are performance pipes that have the right mix of air flow and back pressure to make for increased performance and incredible sound. The oversized removable heat shield gives the Jug Huggers a 2 1/2″ fat look. Max-Flow performance baffles and chrome billet aluminum end caps are standard. Optional stealth baffles or torque chambers give you the option of getting the right performance from your motorcycle. Save $80! MRF CALL TO ACTION–For the past several weeks the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) has beenactively working on a multi-tiered strategic initiative to counter theNational Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) program to pressure statesinto enacting mandatory helmet laws. We are prepared today to launch theprogram beginning with a Call to Action to our State Motorcycle RightsOrganizations (SMROs). The MRF’s Call to Action is to encourage our SMRO partners to send theirtop lobbying teams to Washington D.C. in late October and early Novemberto visit with their members of Congress to voice opposition to the NTSB’slobbying efforts. It is our position that the NTSB is proposing todirectly lobby the states with federal tax money based on poorly-drawnconclusions, using a very narrow scope, and not employing the rigors ofresearch to which they normally hold themselves. This is simply notacceptable to the MRF and our SMRO partners. A clear message was sent bythe Senate in the 109th Congress when they voted 69-28 to defeat theLautenberg Federal Helmet amendment, which would have pressured statesinto passing mandatory helmet laws, based on the fact that this issue isclearly a State’s rights issue. Accordingly, we will be asking members ofCongress to write a letter to the NTSB reminding them of this fact. During these SMRO visits we will also be presenting a bullet pointstatistical fact sheet developed in conjunction with the MRF Legislative,Motorcycle Safety, and Statistics Committees that clearly shows that theanswer to motorcycle safety and reducing fatalities is, in fact, anaggressive approach toward CRASH AVOIDANCE and NOT safer crashing. Inaddition, we will be educating members of Congress on the many pointscontained in our Motorcycle Safety Action Plan, pointing out to them thatstates with the highest reductions in motorcycle fatalities and stateswith low fatality rates per registered motorcycle are not those withmandatory helmet laws, but rather states that utilize the many tools inthe motorcycle safety action plan. Additionally, we will thank many ofthem for their belief in motorcycle safety shown by the creation of the2010 motorcycle safety grants and the creation of the Motorcycle AdvisoryCouncil in TEA-LU. We will take advantage of this time to inform them asto how these programs are being used effectively. The second phase of the MRF’s strategic initiative involves the MRFholding a press conference in the first week of November in one of theoffice buildings of the United States House of Representatives inWashington, DC. The press conference will feature a prominent member ofCongress. Expect another Call to Action encouraging our members, our SMROpartners, motorcyclists in general and other concerned citizens to attend. At that time we will be issuing a formal letter to the Chairman of theNTSB asking him to reconsider their proposed lobbying of the states andasking that he consider the statistical facts related to our MotorcycleSafety Action Plan and its effectiveness with regard to Crash Avoidanceand NOT Safer Crashing as the goal. For strategic reasons, third phase of our initiative will be announcedonce we complete the necessary research and sufficient discussions havetaken place. We will go on record, however, as stating that we will notrule out asking Congress to take action against the NTSB, as we have donewith NHTSA in the past, should they continue to ignore the spirit ofprevious congressional mandates against federal agencies lobbying stateson mandatory helmet laws. Please contact Jeff Hennie, Vice President of Government Relations of theMotorcycle Riders Foundation, at 202-546-0983 in our Washington D.C.Office to schedule your appointments. CUSTOM CYCLE ENGINEERING FLT/FXR SWING ARM RETROFIT KIT–Custom Cycle Engineering has developed a swing arm conversion kit that replaces the stock Cleve Bloc style swing arm bushings with spherical bearings. The conversion covers all the FLT and FXR models from 1980 to 2001. The swing arm conversion kit coincides with Harley-Davidson’s change from the Cleve Bloc bushing to a spherical bearing in all the 2002 and up FLT models. The conversion over to spherical bearings in the early models dramatically changes the handling and tracking of all the FLT’s and FXR’s. The sticksion at the swing arm pivot is greatly reduced with the new spherical bearings. This allows for the swing arm to react quicker to any harsh road conditions keeping the wheel in contact with the road. The use of spherical bearings also helps negate any lateral and torsional movement in the swing arm by the shear dynamics of a spherical bearing. The swing arm bearing conversion kit is a positive answer to the inherent ill handling problems of the popular Dresser models. Note:Along with the installation of the Swing Arm Conversion Kit, Custom Cycle Engineering recommends the replacement of the old Rubber Mount Isolators with new replacements (P/N 47564-86 B). WORLD’S FASTEST PANHEAD RUNS D&D PERFORMANCE EXHAUST–Fort Worth, TX – October 2, 2007 – D&D Performance Enterprises designed a land speed racing (LSR) exhaust system for Bikernet.com’s 5-Ball Racing Team, who set a new world record on their Panhead with famed drag racer Valerie Thompson at the controls.
The team ran a two-pass average of 156.171 mph and took an AMA World Land Speed Record (#50 in the 2000 APS PF class) with the Assalt Weapan, on a 120-inch rigid Panhead.
The design of the exhaust system was made by the Pope of Pipe and D&D President, Dave Rash. The stepped pipe system started out at 1 7/8-inch pipe for 14 inches and then stepped up to 2-inches in diameter until each pipe was exactly 35 inches long. The pipes then slipped into a collector and were attach to a slip-on megaphone.
“This LSR system has been tested to deliver maximum HP at 6,500 to 6,800 rpms,” explained Rash. “We’ve discovered that these race-based 2-into-1 performance pipes generate 20 more horses than single exhausts.”
The design of the land speed racing pipe was integral to the performance of the Accurate Engineering Panhead high performance engine. It provided the most efficient way to extract expended gases out of the combustion chamber for a top speed of 162 mph on very slippery salt surface.
“It’s a pleasure to work with Dave Rash because he constantly studies how to dig performance out of racing and street engines with his exhaust pipe designs,” said Keith R. Ball, Bikernet.com President. “His assistance helped the team achieve two world records in two years.”
“If you cut us, we bleed salt,” said Dave Rash. “We are proud of the effort Bandit and his 5-Ball Racing team put together, and we are excited about the results and even more excited about working with the team in 2008.”
D&D Performance Exhausts are available from Custom Chrome dealersnationwide or from the factory at 817-834-8961, www.danddexhaust.com.

SCOTT JACOBS BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD–After breaking last year’s record for sales at the Sturgis Rally six weeks ago (just over two hundred canvas giclees sold), Scott Jacobs has been in the studio working on a new Marilyn Monroe painting which has been selected as the fifth image of the Marilyn series. As you can see from the visual below, this stunningly detailed painting contains THREE Marilyn Merlot bottles and took Scott over a year to complete.
Scott’s Marilyn Monroe Series has become some of the most coveted artworks in the market and LADIES IN WAITING could easily end up being the signature piece of the collection. The original painting sold recently at auction in Napa Valley for a record price. Only sixty of the Artist’s Proofs from the studio will be produced and many of those are already spoken for so don’t delay if you like this one. (Retail: $1550 or $1850 with custom frame package. 33 X 25 canvas size or 40 x 32 overall framed).
Also Mr. Jacobs will be making a personal appearance in Denver, Colorado on Oct. 11 at Fascination St. Gallery in Cherry Creek. If you will be in the area and would like to attend the show please RSVP:303-333-1566 and ask for Carlos. We will be unveiling a new wine painting that was commissioned by a patron of the gallery.

CORRECTIONS OFFICER IN JAIL ON SEX CHARGES–Brevard County sheriff’s agents concerned about a state corrections officer’s past interactions with law enforcement lured the man out of his home this past weekend to arrest him on child abuse charges.
William Carlile, 47, is being held without bond at the Brevard County jail on 24 counts of sexual battery on a minor and 60 counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor.
Carlile, a housing officer at the state-run Brevard Correctional Institution, is accused of molesting the teenage girl during a five-year period, said Lt. Tod Goodyear of the Special Victims Unit.
Given past complaints filed against Carlile – he was accused of a similar crime seven years ago by a different child, but he didn’t go to trial – his arrest may mean other children are potentially protected, Goodyear said.
This was not the first time the SWAT team dealt with Carlile.
Domestic battery charges filed against Carlile by his wife seven years ago led to a standoff with the sheriff’s SWAT team before he was arrested, Goodyear said.

FLORIDA’S PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION INSURANCE–For many years Florida drivers were required to have Personal Protection Insurance (PIP) on their vehicles. This insurance was to cover you if you were injured by another vehicle operator. DUH! Having to have insurance to pay your medical bills if others injure you. Now if you happened to have health insurance that would cover you in the same situation you are paying twice for basically the same coverage.
During the law that expires October 1, 2007 Motorcycles had been excluded from having to have PIP.
The Florida Legislature is working on a new bill that revises the states $10,000Medical coverage for motorist and passengers. Though written to take effect immediately, it would not put all Florida motorists under the same requirements until December 1, 2007
Please note that motorcycle riders in Florida that wish to ride without a helmet must have medical coverage.
Motorcycle riders in the State of Florida are strongly advised to contact their elected officials and let them know that they wish motorcycles to be excluded from PIP as they have been in previous years. This does not mean you can not get this insurance if you desire, but That You Are Not Forced To or are excluded if you have other forms of insurance that cover you.
Why should we be forced to carry more than one insurance policy that covers us for the same thing? Please Contact Your Legislator Now, Time Is Limited!

The Top Fuel bike is available that weekend and I thought what a great opportunity to show off the 2001 186 cid PRP powered Weekend chassis monster. We wanted to see Tommy go to Richmond to honorably maintain his Screamin’ Eagle Nitro Harley points lead for the NHRA exhibition championship.” Bahnmaier’s been around the sport for years. He started Harley-Davidson of Salina in 1978. After owning the Mid-Continent Harley-Davidson in Wichita since 1987, he sold that dealership in July of 2005. Bahnmaier, ” I started racing in 1969 on an ironhead Sportster, from 1979-88 I competed in the Pro Gas class and then went to carburated Nitro in 1988 and then Pro Fuel 1998. We won the AHDRA championship in 1999 and we’re runner-up in 2000 and I went on to Top Fuel in 2001. A couple years ago I thought I was ready to retire, but that nitro smell kept dragging me back to the track. Once you win an event on nitro it seems like you’re hooked. We love the people, the power and want to maintain a presence at the track. This is a good opportunity for both Tommy and my team.” Bahnmaier goes on to say, “The Mid-Continent Motorsports team includes: myself, Joe and Neita Bahnmaier my mom and Dad , Dave Larson of Topeka H-D, Drew Moldenhauer, and Jody Dukelow both of Wichita, KS. We are actively and successfully competing with Rick Moore, Reading, PA, piloting our Pro Dragster program.” Grimes is very excited about making the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals. ” Mike and I are totally committed to this event. Quite frankly, it was bothering me that I had won 2 out of the 3 NHRA Screamin’ Eagle Nitro Harley exhibitions and was concerned that without a ride, the trophy wouldn’t be really ‘earned’, I’m feeling great now and look forward to making the show and winning the event for Mid-Continent Motorsports.” The Mid-Continent Motorsports team is supported by: Harley-Davidson of Salina, Mike’s Metal Polishing of Ransom, Ks., Gates Corporation, Saum Engineering, CP pistons, Nungesser Engineering, and Nevada Auto Mall. –Grimes-336-766-7908 THAT?S IT FOR THE NEWS–The guys left this morning and I plan to relax. Hey,We’re going to jump right into the news. We’re packing for the Smoke Out West Run to Cottonwood, loading our weapons and sharpening our knives. I had lost my favorite knife, a 3-inch pocket Beratta, made in Japan. Sin Wu found it this morning, after two months, under the seat of the truck. It’s light and easy to carry in your pocket.
Believe me, I have a bunch of knives, but I missed this one. The Alaskan trip is heating up and Berry Wardlaw and Duffy are researching the trails. We’re trying to swing around Canada because, to be apart of this run clan, you must be a prior felon, and they’re not allowed in Canada. Actually, there are too many restrictions regarding Canada, so we’ll steer clear. Let’s hit the news. A short Hispanic lady with substantial cleavage is making me Salmon Tacos and I can’t let ’em get cold:

STOLEN MOTORCYCLE DISCOVERED–The 1972 Honda CB450 – Father-Son Project – that was stolen in Denver….has been recovered, and is now SAFE AT HOME.Thanks to EVERYONE…across the NATION and around the WORLD…for helping to get the word out. This internet thing’s pretty cool.
It’s terrific to see we can all come together to help find a bike of such special significance. The America I grew up in – still exists.
Thanks, everybody!

THE OFFICIAL WORD…..Evidently whoever tried to take the bike only got a block away. He found it this morning in an alley, kick-stand up, just sitting there. Needless to say he was very relieved and will now take some precautions to secure it. Thanks to all of you for your response. My husband and I ride and once again this cements the thought that bikers are the cream of the crop. Thanks again!
BRASS BALLS BOBBERS BIRTHDAY BASH IN STURGIS– Dar Holdsworth, Capo at Brass Balls Bobbers, made a birthday wish come true by building a copy of the company’s flagship Tattoo Bobber for a 40th birthday present. Check it out at Bikernet TV. If you want one for yourself the original Tattoo Bobber will be auction off next week on eBay. Check brassballsbobbers.com for details.
W8LESS ROTORS FOR SONNY BARGER–The second set of rotor is for the Founder of the Hell’s Angels, Sonny Barger. Sonny will be 69 this week, and Ray and the Angels of Oakland, CA are giving a set of rotors to him as he is the most influential member still living, has written 4 books, been in several movies. The angels are going to sell the rotors in all of their Harley shops worldwide (of course only in the US for now). His birthday will be a big event and will give us a lot of publicity among a large group of riders.
He has a 2001 Road King. The rotors should have standard machined blades, black carriers, and polished buttons. Please include 30 gold buttons and clips to match in case he’d rather have gold buttons. Ray has introduced me to a couple of influential members and they love Ray (he is not a member, but has known them for years).
Thanks so much in advance for preparing rotors for this weekend for our show in Myrtle Beach. If you could send me 50, I would sell them all. But the specifications for the 9 Bob gave you today will do. Another 3 would be great for a total of 12 if possible. I was thinking plain blades, orange carriers and black buttons (Harley-Davidson colors), for a total of 12 would be great.
The Atlantic City show had maybe 300 hundred people attend for both Sat and Sun. Regarding the Suzuki rotors, Chris Onwiler will get a 600cc GXR and test them. He will run his report on his web magazine, which is big among the Track Day guys. We will talk about this later.
Another important dealer I set up yesterday was the owner of the Harley Shop in Atlantic City. He is a famous drag racer and former president of the EDRA (eastern drag racing association). His dealership was just across the street from our motel. He held the Sportster rotor and the polished rotor in his hand for 20 minutes and didn’t want to let them go. He said he would be meeting with Mike Murphy’s boss at Harley this week at the dealer meeting in California. (Mike is the head of brakes and suspensions at Harley in Milwaukee.) He will be ordering rotors for his bike, his son’s bike and his top guy’s bike. The idea of a light, quiet, non-warping rotor is just what the doctor ordered for Harleys.

THE BIKERNET TEXAS RANCH–A Texas rancher got in his pickup and drove to a neighboring ranch andknocked at the door. A young boy, about 9(red), opened the door.
“Is yer Dad home? ” the rancher asked.
“No sir, he ain’t,” the boy replied. “He went into town.”
“Well,” said the rancher, “is yer Mom here?”
“No, sir, she ain’t here neither. She went into town with Dad.”
“How about your brother, Bobo? Is he here?”
“He went with Mom and Dad.”
The rancher stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to theother and mumbling to himself.
“Is there anything I can do fer ya?” the boy asked politely. “I knowswhere all the tools are, if you want to borry one. Or maybe I could takea message fer Dad.”
“Well,” said the rancher uncomfortably, “I really wanted to talk to yerDad. It’s about your brother Bobo getting my daughter, April, pregnant.”
The boy considered it for a long time….then… “You would have to talkto Pa about that” he finally conceded. “If it helps you any, I know thatPa charges $50 for the bull and $25 for the hog, but, I really don’t knowhow much he gets fer Bo.”

RIDLEY ANNOUNCES NEW PENNSYLVANIA PARTNERSHIP–(Okla. City, Okla.-10/01/2007) A new Ridley dealership was officially announced today in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania by Bob Kay, Ridley Motorcycle Director of North American Sales and Dealer Services. Black Dog Motorcycles has been appointed as the premier Harrisburg location for Ridley. Overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna River, the dealership’s location is the finest in central Pennsylvania.
“The association with Black Dog is very exciting, said Bob Kay, the professional atmosphere of the dealership will be very helpful in expanding the motorcycle experience to first time riders.”

“These motorcycles expand our product offering by attracting a new type of rider into our dealership. We are looking forward to introducing the automatic motorcycle to Harrisburg” commented Mike Bowers, Black Dog Motorcycles Founder.

Thanks for the heads up on this bill. We are already in the act of getting this defeated before it ever sees the light of day.
I can tell you that you need to already be on the phone to the two folks that represent your particular district of Florida and letting them know how you feel about this proposal. That is the way this thing is going to be defeated – by folks like you who let their officials know this is bad legislation in a polite, concise, and articulate manner

NEW ISOLATED DRIVE SPROCKET SYSTEM FOR TOURING MODELS–MILWAUKEE (Sept. 28, 2007) – The new Isolated Drive System Sprocket Kit (P/N 40287-07, $305.00) from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories improves rider comfort and ride quality by dampening the mechanical noise and vibration caused by engine torque pulses. Introduced as original equipment on 2008 Touring models, the rubber compensation elements in the sprocket act like a cushion, absorbing the power pulses from the engine.
With the IDS installed, the motorcycle feels smoother and is quieter while accelerating, shifting and cruising. Kit includes sprocket, compensator bowl, and installation hardware.
Fits 2007 Touring models equipped with original equipment and most Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessory wheels. Does not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black).

STEVENSON’S CYCLE AND EVIL-ENGINEERING COLLABORATE ON L.S.D.–Wayne, MI-September 27, 2007 -Stevenson’s Cycle and Evil-Engineering have put their ingenuity and experience together to create a new Lowered Starter Design belt drive with several great features.
Made to fit custom applications, this two-inch open belt drive has a Lowered Starter Design that puts the starter behind the transmission. This allows you to drop seat height and or put a larger oil tank in for more oil capacity on those big inch motors.
Evil-Engineering, is already well known for their belt drives with a helical / herringbone offset tooth design that reduces belt drive noise up to 40% over straight tooth belt while also reducing vibration. It’s designed to handle increased horsepower by having “three teeth” fully engaged at all times, making it 30% stronger as opposed to only having one engaged in standard belt drives. It’s also self-centering, so you don’t have to worry about the belt drifting on the pulley. The Lowered Starter Design belt drive system also comes with a large 7 inch clutch that provides more contact surface for those bigger inch motors.
Stevenson’s Cycle, located in Wayne, Michigan, is owned and operated by Steve Broyles Sr. and his son, Steve Broyles II. Steve Sr. has been building, customizing, and repairing motorcycles since 1969. Stevenson’s Cycle is also known in the V-twin industry for their extensive performance and engine work.

HUGE NEWS FOR THE BIKERNET.COM CO-SPONSORED SMOKE OUT WEST, BILLY LANE COMING–Huge news for The Bikernet.com co-sponsored Backstreet Choppers Smoke Out West this week. Billy Lane is building a Knucklehead bobber for this historic first West event. Billy has been a huge part of putting the Horse Smoke Out on the map.
When we started the East Coast Horse Smoke Out event years ago- it was all altruistic. We wanted an event for choppers and builders. Billy Lane is obviously a huge star now, but he really has not changed in his support for everything Chopper. He has a travel schedule that would kill a mere mortal –so I was just happy as hell to hear he could make it.
When I heard that he his building a bike especially for the event, it rocked my world. Some builders talk about their support for the underground chopper world but Billy walks the walk.
More big news, I got the following note from Bandit. ?We’re riding out, 200 strong, guns blazing, horny for roller derby girls and whiskey. Look out.?
The Smoke Out is the world?s largest Chopper Rally and will be held October 5-7 on the Verde Valley Fairground in Cottonwood, AZ (20 minutes South of Sedona). The event will start Friday – October 5, 2007 from 5pm to 11pm. Saturday, 10am to 11pm and Sunday, 10am to 4 pm. For more information (or a vender packet) check the website SmokeOutRally.com website or venders call e-mail Edge at edge.42@mac.com.

ICONIC VINCENT MOTORCYCLE DEBUTSNEXT WEEK AT MOTOEXPO SAN DIEGO–Del Mar, CA, September 27, 2007 —- Once respected as the fastest production motorcycle in world, the Vincent suffered a slow death in the 1950?s only to come back recently as a strikingly contemporary re-iteration where it can be seen at MOTOEXPO SAN DIEGO that roars into the Del Mar Fairgrounds next Saturday and Sunday (October 6 and 7).
David Arnold, show director for the first annual MOTOEXPO SAN DIEGO, who made the announcement this week, said two prototypes of the iconic Vincent motorcycle will be on display. The juried show of customized sports and street cruisers will also feature an assemblage of one of a kind, handcrafted motorcycles in a special display called MOTOMASTERS.
?We are honored that Rancho Santa Fe entrepreneur and rider, Bernardo Li, who is bringing back the Vincent, would agree to showcase these awesome motorcycles at our show,? said Arnold. ?The motorcycle world owes Mr. Li and his organization a ?thumbs up? for not only making the investment in bringing back the Vincent and creating these two prototypes but for interpreting the bike?s pedigree and turning it into a sleek, dynamic machine ? heavy on the horse power but lithe in handling.?
According to well-documented media reports, The Vincent Black Lightning hurtled over the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in 1949, pegging the needle at 151.131 miles per hour, and setting a land speed record for a production motorcycle that would remain unbeatable 20 years beyond the company?s closing in the mid-1950s.
The original Vincents, according to Arnold, were made in England and were born of speed. The original builder, Howard Raymond Davies, was committed to building a radical new bike. He did. And it reached 66 mph in 1926. Shortly thereafter, Philip Vincent, also a Brit, bought the company and, in 1949, launched the Vincent in the United States.
According to Arnold, the two Vincent prototypes are among other exciting displays and activities taking place Saturday and Sunday at MOTOEXPO SAN DIEGO. The two-day event also includes a dazzling array of vintage motorcycles and MOTOMASTERS ? an invitation only, beyond-the-jury collection of priceless, one-of-a-kind handcrafted motorcycles that epitomize the highest achievement in aesthetics and engineering. Among those exhibiting are Christian Dotson and his award-winning bike that won the coveted ?America?s Most Beautiful Motorcycle award? at this year?s Los Angeles Roadster Show in Pomona, the irrepressible Roland Sands, the enigmatic Chica, and making a rare appearance will be two bikes from Confederate Motor Company ? the B-120 Wraith and Hellcat.
Tickets are available online and will be available at the gate. For additional information go to www.motoexposandiego.com
INCREDIBLE–Let?s party. Did you read the news: New Vincents coming, Confederate making another run at success and the guys who fixed Chris Craft boats are preparing something with Indian somewhere. Watch over the next couple of months as we witness motorcycle battery wars as new technology is unleashed on the custom market.
It?s fascinating. We live in a very small niche market, yet when a man or a woman has a dream and the resources to make it a reality, they?ll go for it. From the custom builder breaking his neck and pocket book to build his first bike in his or her apartment, to a full blown manufacturing facility designing a remake of the Vincent.
There?s never a dull moment when it comes to creative minds. They never stop churning out a new and exciting notion. We?ll be here to test ?em, cover them and bring you the story.
Ride Forever,

BIKERNET.COM PUBLISHES THE HISTORY OF CALAMITY JANE–I was perusing some long forgotten and out of print novels at Arthurs Classic Books when I came across this gem.The Life and Adventures of Calamity Jane, written by Herself.Four pages long it details in brief her adventures in the Old West, including how, when serving as a scout with the famous 7th Calvalry, she went to Bear Butte Creek and in the fall and winter of 1877 helped build Fort Meade and then the town of Sturgis.
Also includes the death of her friend Wild Bill Hickok, and how she caught his killer.Fascinating document, I thought you might like to post it at Bikernet.
I daresay few people have ever read it, much less any of the thousands of bikers who make the annual pilgramige to Sturgis every year.
Cheers: Jaq.
Watch for it to show up in Bandit’s Cantina History Department, maybe tomorrow.-Wilburn Roach

OFFICIALS FIRE ALTON POLICE CHIEF ACCUSED OF SEX ASSAULT– ALTON, Texas – The chief of police has been fired weeks after the South Texas lawman was accused of sexually assaulting two male employees.Jose Luis Vela was suspended after his Aug 29 arrest on two charges of sexual assault. Since then, three current and former police department employees have accused Vela of sexual harassment.
Vela was officially fired Friday for poor record keeping and possible theft of confiscated items. City Manager Jorge Arcaute said allegations surfaced accusing Vela of stealing alcohol confiscated by his department.
Vela said he never took confiscated beer, nor was he involved in logging items. He is out on bail and plans to plead not guilty to all the charges.
Investigators have accused Vela of performing oral sex on a male employee after the man passed out drunk at a party about a year ago at Vela’s home in Mission, according to court documents. Vela is also accused of violating a different male employee with an object while that man was passed out at a party in July, Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.
Alton is a town of about 4,400 residents, located 10 miles north of the Mexican border in the Rio Grande Valley.

NEW ENGINE FROM CONFEDERATE MOTORCYCLES–Confederate uses Small Block ‘slice’Confederate Motor Co., a Birmingham,AL, specialty motorcycle builder, hopes tosmash the mold of such bikes as deriva-tives of Harley-Davidson design andengineering.
The company’s raison d’êtrehas been unique, minimalist original de-sign, but it continues to use a 45° V-twinengines like those of Harley-Davidson.
Confederate is plotting is own newengine using a different architecture, butcreating an engine from a clean sheet ofpaper and contracting for supply of thecomponents is too expensive a propositionfor the small startup manufacturer.
To trimsome of the expense of designing, devel-oping, and testing components, the com-pany’s new engine is derived from an exist-ing design so that some of the existingexperience with that engine can be ex-ploited and some of its components used.
Confederate turned to another Americanengine just as iconic as the Harley V-twinfor its architecture: the Chevrolet SmallBlock V8.The engine planned for use inConfederate’s next model borrows thearchitecture of a two-cylinder slice of theV8 design. While this solution obviouslyrequires a custom casting for the engine’sblock and heads, Confederate is able touse some internal parts from the GeneralMotors supply chain, including the verydesirable Mahle titanium connectingrods used in the Corvette Z06’s LS7 en-gine.
Confederate contracted with enginedevelopment specialist Katech to designand supply the engines after seeing thecompany’s handiwork in producing thesuper-sized Small Block V16 used in theCadillac Sixteen concept car.
Now, Confederate is developing theRenevatio, its first motorcycle that doesnot feature a Harley-inspired 45° V-twinengine. “This was really the bike wewanted from the beginning,” saidConfederate founder Matt Chambers.
Current models, such as the Wraithand the Hellcat, prominently exhibit enor-mous frame tubes, but they will be lessvisible on the upcoming Renevatio be-cause the new 90° Chevy-based V-twinalso serves as the frame’s main compo-nent. The goal is to advanceConfederate’s mantra of simplicity, withthe dual benefits of light weight and re-duced cost.
“I think you’ll find our system is smallerand lighter than anyone else’s, and I thinkit looks cooler,” said Chambers. He alsopredicts the new bike will come in at lessthan 300 lb (136 kg), though the engi-neering team at Katech says it is aimingfor less than 400 lb (181 kg), according toCaleb Newman, Director of AftermarketOperations for Katech.
