Participate in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum's New Exhibit

The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum will once again be presenting a new women's exhibit at the Crossroads at the Buffalo Chip Campground.  This year's exhibit, called "Through the Years" will highlight some great motorcycling women from the early 1900s through today and you can be a part of making it happen.

Two women from each decade will be chosen to be highlighted.  The criteria for this exhibit is that the women who are chosen will not have been highlighted in the previous three exhibits at the museum.  "We'll have to look beyond the women who are the most well-known in the industry for this exhibit," said Christine Paige Diers, Executive Director of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.  "Every woman who has been inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame is already highlighted in our current 'Paving the Way:  the Women of the Hall of Fame.'  In addition, we won't include any of the women we highlighted in our recent 'First Ladies' or 'Motor Maids' exhibits.  That means we'll be looking at highlighting women who may not have had quite as much publicity in the past."

As part of building this exhibit, the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum is soliciting help from anyone who wants to participate.  If you know of a woman who deserves the recognition that this exhibit will provide, you can email a form to the museum, and the forms will be added to the exhibit.  "We really want this exhibit to be inclusive and to truly honor women who have made a difference in motorcycling," said Paige Diers.  "We don't pretend to know everyone who is deserving of inclusion, so we want others to help us out."  The form, available at www.sturgismuseum.com/assets/file-manager/Through-the-Years-Form.doc will have a space for a photo and a brief paragraph about the woman.  Once received, those forms will be added to the exhibit and placed on the walls along with the rest of the highlighted women.

The exhibit will be on display throughout the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the Crossroads – a free access area at the Buffalo Chip Campground.
