After nearly 20 years of selling motorcycles and related products here, the Rossmeyer family’s presence on Beach Street comes to a quiet end Thursday.
The family’s Harley-Davidson merchandise store and motorcycle museum at 290 N. Beach St. will cease operation at that location after the close of business at 5 p.m.
The property, from 1994 to 2011, was the site of the original Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson store.
“We considered staying if the business warranted it, but after a couple years of giving it (the merchandise store and museum) a full run, and the lease is up, it’s time to make a change,” said Shelly Rossmeyer Pepe, general manager of her family’s motorcycle dealership chain, which includes its flagship store at Destination Daytona along Interstate 95, just north of Ormond Beach.
Pepe is a daughter of the chain’s founder, the late Bruce Rossmeyer who died in 2009.
The museum is moving to Destination Daytona where it will be on the second floor of the building that now houses the Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson dealership.
