ROUGH WEATHER GIRL OF BIKERNET

For those who aren’t privileged to have a year round riding season, the 2013 riding season has gotten off to an interesting start. First, record cold and snow was reported in dozens of cities in early spring, with the worst of the weather hammering the Rockies, upper Midwest and northern Plains. We’ve already seen a couple of wildfires and we’re still months away from the peak of wildfire season. Of course, tornados are a usual part of spring and this year is no exception with cool, dry air colliding with warm, moist air and producing killer tornados in Oklahoma and other states. The first tropical storm of the 2013 Hurricane Season, Andrea, made landfall in Florida recently. And, California and Nevada are seeing record-breaking heat with highs soaring well above 100 degrees.

 

I don’t know much about global warming, but the phrase “global weirding” sure seems to capture the spirit of our weather these days. So, for those of you who are waiting for a perfect weather day to climb in the saddle, I say, “Good luck.” Instead, I recommend you go with a “Screw the weather. Let’s ride!” It’s a positive mentality and will get you out on the open road. Just be ready to take on whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at you. She’s being a real bitch this year.
