SCARY HIGH-TECH SUNDAY POST FOR October 19, 2014

Hey,

I don’t know what to make of this, but I’m trying. More importantly how will any of this effect motorcycling in the future?

This comes from The Week Magazine for October 17th: One promising high-tech auto feature in development is “vehicle-to-vehicle” (or V2V) communication, which would allow cars to virtually “talk” to one another to relay safety and traffic information. Imagine, for instance, if your car could connect with other nearby vehicles to decide when it’s safe to make a left turn across oncoming traffic.

Right now, V2V communication is in its earliest stages. Most experts agree that early applications of the technology wouldn’t take over functions for drivers but rather would alert them to potential hazards ahead, so they can react more quickly.

Let that sink in for a moment. There’s more in the news ahead. Imagine if you didn’t need to write a school report, because it was written for you…

Easyriders 2008 Pomona Launch

http://www.bikernet.com/pages/story_detail.aspx?id=6985

Michelle,

I’m proud to say that I now have possession of that bike and as I type this, everything on the bike is now being completed to make it a running show bike.

We’ve already went through the entire bike, just like a lot of show bikes it was never meant to be ridden but with some fuel line, wiring, nuts and bolts, we will have this bike up and running by December of this year. I’m not sure where you got your information about it not being for Jack Daniels, it was at just about every event Jack sponsored between 2008-2009.

Once completed, it was revealed to Jack Daniels while setting on display at the Mirage Hotel. I’ll be sure to post a link to video of the bike running, once it’s completed. A bike that has every major component doesn’t take much to make it fire and ride. I have no intentions on racking up mIles on it but the next time it goes to a show everyone will hear this thing fire!

INTERESTING. WONDER HOW THIS IMPACTS ALL STATES WITHOUT HELMET LAWS? Found this examining Privacy Laws. Have Transplant applicants moved to them, too?

“Some American states are proud havens for individual rights. Tennessee does not have mandatory laws for motorbike helmets and is seen as part of the amendment right to bear arms and an assertion of the individual’s rights. The unintended consequence has led to thousands of Americans wanting liver transplants going to live in Tennessee because of the prevalence of road fatalities of young, fit men and women who come to grief on their motor bikes.”

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN ON SUNDAYS–HOW IS NORMA?

A sweet grandmother Telephoned St. Joseph ‘s Hospital. She timidly asked, “Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?”

The operator said, “I’ll be glad to help, dear. What’s the name and room number of the patient?”

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, Norma Findlay, Room 302.”

The operator replied, “Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse’s station for that room.”

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said, “I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back normal and her Physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow.”

The grandmother said, “Thank you. That’s wonderful. I was so worried. God bless you for the good News.”

The operator replied, “You’re more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?”

The grandmother said…. “No, I’m Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me shit!”

PRIVACY AND SECURITY—New Technology and Driverless Cars. I watched a presentation by the Cato Institute, where very intelligent gentlemen discussed the storming tsunami of new technology and the onslaught of potentially driverless cars and how these new innovations impact privacy and security.

Some presenters discussed a changing dynamic regarding vehicle ownership. There will come a time when many folks won’t own vehicles at all, but rent them, like you order a pizza delivered. The car takes you wherever you need and drops you off. Another will come and take you home. Interesting!

What will happen to motorcycles? What will happen to the desire to modify your own car? Hang on!

MY TWILIGHT YEARS ~ Clint Eastwood

As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end.

There will be a clear, cold morning when there isn’t any “more.”

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let every one of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, “He was my friend, and I know where he stood.”

So, just in case I’m gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron currently in the White House! Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.

Regards,
Clint

STRIPPER JUICE GOES TO BONNEVILLE— last summer (2013) I took my annual “spiritual ride” through 11 states and over 4,200 solo miles. One of the destination points was the Bonneville Salt Flats. That’s where the pic came from with my road glide. But that wasn’t enough to satisfy my “bucket list” accomplishments.

I contacted Delvene Manning about being an official sponsor of the 2014 MC Speed Trials. She was thrilled about it, so I volunteered to work the event as well. OMG, what an experience!

They say you get “salt fever” if you ever participate in this event and sweetie, I got the bug, big time. Almost $3,000 worth of Stripper Juice was distributed to the racers at the event and I received many thanks from the riders who stopped in at my mountain post on the return run at mile four.

I felt so honored to meet and visit with such greats as Brian Klock, Jay Alan, Valerie Thompson, Hiro Koiso, Ray Wheeler and the awesome Dan Parker, but one of my personal favorites was missing… the Perewitz crew. I’ve known Jody and Dave for a few years now and was so disappointed when I learned she had taken the year off to complete her new bike. Hopefully, I will get to see her run next year.

I am hooked and plan to return in 2015 as a sponsor, a volunteer and hopefully I will have my 1956 BMW r60 ready to run on the salt. Yes, I want to be a land speed racer at Bonneville!! hahaaa… but the bigger reason for putting this vintage machine on the salt is… it was my Dad’s bike. I rode on the back of that thing with him when I was a kid!

Dad would be so proud. I may not come close to a record, but I want my grand-babies to tell people that their “G” raced on the salt when she was 60 yrs old. This is a magical place, a place where energy runs high and comradery among racers is like super glue, bonding them together like no family I’ve ever seen. I’ve told my friends, if you’ve never been, just do it at least once. You will never forget it.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day…

30,000 to a man’s 15,000.

The wife replied, ‘The reason has to be because we have to
repeat everything to men….

The husband then turned to his wife and asked, ‘What?’

CREATION

A man said to his wife one day, ‘I don’t know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time.

‘The wife responded, ‘Allow me to explain.

God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me;

God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you !

God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece

Documents Reveal Additional Victims of Fast and Furious in the U.S., Continued DOJ Cover-Up

Eric Holder may have announced his resignation as U.S. attorney general, but his legacy of mismanagement, incompetence, and the politicization of federal law enforcement will continue to plague Americans for some time to come. That became even more evident this week with further revelations about Operation Fast and Furious based on information of which the Justice Department was presumably aware but withheld from the American people.

According to records obtained by Judicial Watch through a public records lawsuit against the City of Phoenix, Ariz., an AK 47-type rifle involved in Operation Fast and Furious was used in a gang-style shooting in the city that left two people injured with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident could have been far worse, moreover, as the assailants had also shot up the front of an occupied apartment building where the victims were found. The findings are detailed in a letter sent to a Justice Department official by Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government reform.

According to the letter, an AK-type rifle recovered from a vehicle fleeing the scene of the crime was determined to have been purchased by Christopher Steward – one of 40 he bought in a single day – while he was under the surveillance of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosive (BATFE). Steward was later charged with purchasing some 289 firearms with funds provided by the leader of a firearms trafficking organization.

Despite the suspicious circumstances under which Steward purchased the rifles and distributed them between different vehicles, agents did not immediately attempt to seize and recover the firearms but allowed them to “walk,” apparently to further the investigation. At least two men paid the price for that decision on this side of the border (so far), while other firearms Steward purchased have also been recovered in Mexico, indicating the potential for more victims in that country.

The letter also chides DOJ for ignoring three prior requests for information on firearms associated with Fast and Furious and recovered in connection with violent crimes. It notes that the rifle seized in the Phoenix shooting was traced by BATFE on July 31, 2013, but DOJ failed to notify the committees about it. According the letter’s authors, “This lack of transparency about the consequences of Fast and Furious undermines public confidence in law enforcement and gives the impression that the Department is still seeking to suppress information and limit its exposure to public scrutiny.”

This latest revelation might not be the last in connection with Fast and Furious. A federal court ruling in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in September denied a request for an extension and ordered the White House to release to Judicial Watch by October 22 information it had previously withheld on documents related to Fast and Furious. This was the second such order, as DOJ had failed to comply with an earlier one issued in July. DOJ had sought to delay release of the information to Judicial Watch until the day before the November elections. Meanwhile, another judge gave DOJ until November 3 to turn over additional documents related to Fast and Furious to Rep. Issa’s committee.

Whatever the contested documents may or may not ultimately prove, the fact remains that firearms sold to dangerous criminals with the knowledge and consent of BATFE officials undoubtedly remain in circulation with violent gangs and drug traffickers. Thus, while Eric Holder’s disgraceful tenure will soon come to an end, the risks that he created to innocent people in America and countries to the south will continue.

RIDE WRIGHT WHEELS MAY END UP ON OUR FLH PROJECT
The Ridewright thick 50 spoke rims would really set off the Paughco springer. Would give it a beefy appearance.

BOEING MAY BUILD PILOTLESS PLANES–F16 DRONES – ALMOST UNBELIEVABLE !

The F-16 was originally designed and manufactured by General Dynamics. Apparently Boeing got the contract to modify them to drones.

Didn’t realize drone technology had advanced this far so quickly. They are using up their obsolete F-16s. Not a good day for the future of manned aircraft. Seems like the PILOT is on the endangered list.

This little 4 minute video is really something. A first for a full size jet airplane. Thousands of planes that were grave yard bound, with costs in the hundreds of millions, can now be used as never before. These F-16’s aircraft have been in the bone yard at Davis-Monahan for 15 years , and now being used as drones.

I’M MOVED—this weekend by many things. It’s fascinating and terrifying. I find the issue of safety over freedom daunting. Would you rather be safe or drive your own car?

I know exactly where I stand, but does our society? Maybe folks are just overwhelmed with all the bullshit, so it’s cool to let the government handle it.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll be an outlaw until I’m toast, and I’ll push for freedom for as long as I can. Have a helluva week!

Ride Free Forever,
