SUPER-RARE A.T.S SPORTS CAR TO MAKE AUCTION DEBUT AT AUTOMOBILES OF LONDON SALE —LONDON, England (3 September, 2009) ? RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby?s, is delighted to announce the consignment of a super-rare and highly desirable 1963 A.T.S. 2500 GTS 3.0-litre sports car to its upcoming Automobiles of London event. One of only eight A.T.S. sports cars produced between 1962 and 1965, this example ? chassis number 004 ? will be offered ?without reserve? at the 28 October event at Battersea Evolution, London, England.

Of immense historical significance, A.T.S. (Automobili Turismo Sport) was an Italian car maker and racing team that was formed by Carlo Chiti and Giotto Bizzarrini, (both of Ferrari GTO fame) who established the company as a direct competitor to their former employer, Ferrari. Financially supported by Count Giovanni Volpi, the company produced a small number of road-going sports cars and a Formula One car which boasted Phil Hill as one of its drivers. The car made its debut at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, and although 12 chassis were produced, only 8 cars were ultimately completed, making each a rare collector?s item.

?We are thrilled to be offering this extraordinarily rare A.T.S. sports car at our upcoming London sale,? says Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe.

?Not only does our London event mark the auction debut for this particular example, but it?s also believed to be the first time an A.T.S. has ever been offered publicly at auction. As such, it is set to draw considerable interest from discerning collectors around the world as they contend for a very important and rare piece of A.T.S. history,? he adds.

Designed by former Bertone stylist Franco Scaglione and built by the Turin coachbuilder Serafino Allemano, s/n 004 is well-known to connoisseurs for its sleek bodywork and is believed to have been the last car assembled as well as one of only five surviving examples of the original eight. Additionally, it is the only known 3.0-litre GTS example built in steel with the rare four dual down-draft 38 IDM Weber Carburettors.

Fitted with a mid-mounted, all-aluminum 3.0-litre overhead cam V-8 engine, producing 300 bhp, and capable of achieving over 160 mph, s/n 004 was originally the personal property of Count Volpi when he left A.T.S., before passing into private ownership. It has changed hands very seldom since and is offered for sale in truly outstanding condition with less than 10,000 original kilometres and having undergone a complete concours mechanical and body restoration. Most recently, the car was displayed at the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance and has been invited to next year?s renowned Villa d’ Este Concours at Lake Como, Italy.

The Automobiles of London event will be held on 28 October, 2009 at Battersea Evolution, London, England. A full day preview will be held on 27 October, 2009 from 10.00am ? 5.00pm GMT, followed by the auction on 28 October from 3.00pm GMT. Admission to the event is by catalogue only which is available for ?70 and admits two.

To discuss consignment opportunities, or for further information on early consignments, please contact RM London at +44 20 7851 7070 or visit www.rmauctions.com .

As for supplements, consider the following:

1. Multivitamin. A daily multivitamin can help to fill nutritional gaps and counteract the negative effects of unhealthy stress on the body.
2. B-complex. B vitamins can help balance mood, calm the nervous system, and increase the efficacy of some prescription anti-depressants.
3. Omega-3 (fish oil) supplement. Either from molecularly distilled fish oil or from krill. A deficiency in omega-3 fatty acids has been associated with increased anxiety and depression.

5. Calcium and magnesium. Both are involved in many key physiologic processes and may help support healthy sleep, as well as muscle relaxation.
6. St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum). Extract of this flowering herb, indigenous to Europe, may help boost mood and maintain a healthy emotional outlook

We like a lot of aspects of this unique bike. It adds a whole new, but functional twist for a common touring model. The tank has a larger capacity than stock and so do the bags. These products are available at Todd’s. Hang on for the feature.–Snake

John Force Racing

NHRA?S JOHN FORCE RACING TEAM GOES GREEN WITH PPG–STRONGSVILLE, Ohio ? September 1, 2009 ? John Force, one of the most successful racers in the history of drag racing, has taken his team green with PPG Envirobase? High Performance paint. The team, John Force Racing, installed a new paint spray booth at its Brownsburg, Indiana facility and switched to the environmentally-friendly, waterborne coatings for all its cars at the beginning of the 2009 NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) season.

?We focus on performance,? says Force. ?Performance in racing includes safety and safety includes taking care of the environment, keeping it safe for ourselves and generations to come. Going green is very important to me. We can?t control everything around us, but we can control what we do as a team, and the paint we use has an impact on the environment. Using PPG waterborne paint is just one part of us being green, but it?s a key part.?

Force?s 34-year NHRA career has seen him set a number of records including 14 Funny Car championships, winning more than 1,000 rounds of competition, winning 126 NHRA national events and more. He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in August 2008. The John Force Team he leads comprises of daughters Ashley Force Hood, Brittany Force and Courtney Force, son-in-law Robert Hight and Mike Neff. John, Ashley, Robert and Mike run in the Funny Car category while Brittany and Courtney compete in the Top Alcohol Dragster class. The team was the focus of the A&E cable channel?s Driving Force reality show.

Brandon Baker, in charge of the appearance of the team?s six cars, says Force wanted to find an ecologically sound paint line he could count on for all the colors in the John Force Racing spectrum ? green, white, red, and a variety of blues.

?As you can imagine, our paint problems are a little different than most people?s,? says Baker. ?Our cars go through a lot of abuse ? crashes, fires, fuel spills. We?re always painting and repainting. We wanted to work with a well-known, high-quality brand that could handle the challenges we face, a company that was way ahead of the curve. And, of course, John insists the cars always look as good as possible for the sponsors and fans. After looking around, we knew it was PPG.?

Over the course of the season, the relationship has been a success. ?PPG has been extremely supportive,? adds Baker. ?Plus, our painter Dave Gregory really likes the Envirobase HP product. There are no fumes, no smell. He can really get into the work without noxious distraction.?

For more information about PPG, call 800/647-6050 or visit the PPG Automotive Refinish website at www.ppgrefinish.com. To learn more about John Force Racing, visit www.johnforceracing.com.

Now we are trusting the economy of our country, our banking system, our auto industry and possibly our health plans to the same idiots who couldn’t make money running a whore house and selling whiskey!”

From Panhead Richie

THERE I BE, MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS–When the Chop N Grind Performance Center team asked me to go for a ride in the desert. When Sin Wu asked, “When will you be home, honey?”

Bad Bob responded, “It’s a one-way ride.” Seems I wasn’t moving fast enough on the D&D, K&N, and Compu-Fire tech article.

Larryshooting

I finally convinced Dr. P. that if they buried me in a shallow grave in the desert, the fuckin’ article would be tarantula food along with my toenails.

S&S bracket
We bagged one of these S&S carb brackets from one of the Chop N Grind Bonneville race bikes. Suppose I’m in trouble for that also.

He winged me anyway, just to let me know who’s the boss. Just goes to show the pressure I’m under to complete these articles.

Badbob

Comin’ up on Bikernet, we’re going to force some product info out of the gang at Licks Cycle. I must finish the Wisconsin ride story by Marilyn Bragg, or there will be trouble in Paradise. Johnny Humble is working on Bob Carillo’s bobbed bike feature, a classic. If the UPS gods are with me, my ignition module will arrive. I’ll wire the bike and bring you a final assembly report. Next week I’m going to bring you a unique bike feature from Roy Gregory. He grappled with a photographic problem until he found the lovely Elizabeth from Sussex. His bike is completely white, so the photos need to be top notch. You’ll see it on Bikernet.

For Cantina members, Jerry Southworth delivered a batch of sexy, soft shot of the Knucklhead girl in a bath. Hang on. In the meantime, have a helluva Labor Day Weekend.
