Hey,
I’m kicking this Sunday Bikernet Post off with a couple of heated announcements. If only I knew what the hell they were. Let’s see, I made a press and straightened this rim so we can ship this bike, my 1928 Shovelhead built by Strokes Dallas, to Australia. It actually worked.

Next we kicked off our Sturgis build when the Crazy Horse 100 inch engine arrived. What a killer looking engine. Chris Kallas, our esteemed concept bike illustrator came over this weekend to discuss the concept.

Hopefully by next Sunday we’ll have a rough illustration for you to ponder. Let’s hit it then I have a couple of wrap-up announcements.

NEW LIMITED-EDITION FEUGO RADICAL CUSTOM PAINT SET– Haunting Skulls and Flames for Harley-Davidson Dyna and Softail Models. MILWAUKEE (August 31, 2008) ? The new Fuego Radical Custom Paint Set ($2,499.95 to $2,699.95) from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories features an air-brushed skull of flames breaking through the black night. Matching gusts of hollow flames that start strong and finish even stronger frame the block Harley-Davidson logo.
The entire paint set is executed in non-glossy, denim paint for a more dramatic effect. The Fuego is one of 10 new Radical Custom Paint Sets from Harley-Davidson for 2009. Each is limited to 200 examples and features an exclusive design, hand-painted to offer superior depth and detail and hand-numbered for exclusivity. Styled to complement a specific motorcycle model, the colors and curves work to showcase the lines of the bike. Each set includes a tank and front and rear fenders.
For 2009, the order and delivery windows for all Radical Custom Paint Sets has been expanded.
The Fuego Radical Custom Paint Set is available for the 2008-later Dyna Fat Bob and Dyna Street Bob, and the following 2008-later Softail models: Night Train, Softail Custom, Rocker and Rocker C, and Cross Bones. The Youth Program of The Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Inc. in association with The AMCA Foundation, Inc. and Bikernet.com– A Classic Harley-Davidson Motorcycle ?Give Away to promote membership drive.?
If you or someone you know is between 18 and 25 years old, here is an opportunity to win and rebuild a 1940s era Harley-Davidson WLA motorcycle project! The youth program of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America is running a contest this year that will give away a 1942 Harley Davidson bobber project.
Matt Olsen of the Youth Program of The Antique Motorcycle Club of America is the young man behind this proposal. ?As classic motorcycles become more rare and expensive it is getting tougher for young people to afford them,? Olsen explained. ?Knowing how frustrating this can be, I decided to try something to help encourage young people like me to better understand, preserve and enjoy classic bikes and possibly to own one.? Olsen approached The AMCA Foundation, Inc. to fund this special program and has spent more than a year developing the project and finding members of the A.M.C.A. to donate the parts to build a Harley-Davidson WLA bobber.
The contest is limited to young Americans (guys and gals and they don?t have to be a member!) between the ages of 18 than 25. They simply have to write and submit a 1,000 word essay describing what they hope to learn about classic bikes, why they want the bike, what they plan to do with it once the build is completed, and any other reasons why they feel they should win this motorcycle. The entry must be received by Matt Olsen no later than August 15th 2009.

HARLEY DUCKS THE NOISE ISSUE– I got this from a friend Hildy. I thought you might be interested.
Did any one receive this above noted edition of the Enthutisiast? If so, did you by chance read the “Legislating Noise” Q & A article with Mike Richards?
This guy, Harley’s Manager of Government Affairs, has been “monitoring motorcycle noise sensitivities nationwide and have seen it evolve into the threat that it poses today for all motorcycles. ”
My next question is what has Harley Davidson do for biker rights since 1982 when it became an American owned company again? They’ve been monitoring things.
I own a 1973 iron head Shovel. You could choke the bitch to death and not to get it to pass 82 decibels as indicated in his article.
Harley Davidson does not have parts for anything under 1984 if then. Go to a Harley dealer and they won’t work on anything 10 years old or older. I thought they were certified Harley mechanics. Fuck me running.
Mike Richards says, “As a company we believe that if we, as motorcyclists, continue to outfit our bikes with altered pipes, we’ll significantly limit the freedom we have to customize our ride.”
What the F**K does that mean? We shouldn’t buy anything from Ness or Kirk, or J&P Cycles? Just Screaming Eagle because it meets the standards that Harley went along with to get along with!
Buy a $25,000 and up motorcycle and customize it with stock chrome Screaming Eagle parts because Harley forgot how to stand outside of the mainstream and be unique.
1982. Please buy our stock. Help us become American again. President Regan please put a hugh tariff on 750 cc motorcycles and up that come into this country so we can become the bike of the American Dream.
The bike we took and chopped, custom painted, chromed, put straights on and then went profiling. Man, Easyriders! Dave Mann posters! Remember?
Now they have bikes the average guy can’t afford to buy and don’t, in my humble opinion, really care about. They have their own little group, H.O.G. Non political mind you but they boast about how many members they have. Even give you a pin for how many miles you ride and all the places you been on their bikes.
Sorry brothers and sisters, I’d rather tell some town mayor or city council to stick their noise ordinances up their asses than have some self serving motorcycle company tell me to roll over so they can sell some more over rated, over priced product.
The product real bikers made famous.
Read the article and tell me if you think Harley Davidson has any balls or just wants to sell bikes and put the after market people out of business.
