BIKERNET EMPLOYEE ALMOST LOSES JOB– A biker works a new job on Thursday and Friday. On Monday he calls in and says, “I can’t come in today, I’m sick.” He works the rest of the week, but the following Monday he calls in and says, “I can’t come in today, I’m sick.”
The boss asks the foreman about him and he replies, “He’s great. He does the work of two men. We need him.”
So the next day the boss calls the biker into his office and says, “You seem to have a problem getting to work on Mondays. You’re a good worker and I’d hate to fire you. What’s the problem? Anything we can help you with? Drugs? Alcohol?”
The guy replies, “No I don’t drink or do drugs. But my brother-in-law drinks heavily every weekend, then beats up my sister. So every Monday morning I go over to make sure she’s alright. She puts her head on my shoulder and cries, one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know I’m screwing her.”
The boss says, “You screw your sister?”
The guy replies, “Hey, I told you I was sick.”

BEAR ATTACKS B.C. MAN AFTER JUMPING INTO FISHING BOAT– A bear mauling a man on a boat in Port Renfrew, B.C., wouldn’t let go of its victim despite being struck with a gaff, beaten with a hammer and stabbed with sharp objects, one of the rescuers said Wednesday.
“It didn’t let go until it died right in his boat,” said Bruce Miller, who was the first to try to stop the attack.
Two men were fishing around 5 p.m. Tuesday when a black bear swam towards their boat and jumped aboard, RCMP Sgt. Roger Plamondon said Wednesday. One of the men threw fish overboard, hoping to distract the bear, but he was still attacked, Plamondon said.
An unidentified 52-year-old man from Saltspring Island was taken to hospital with bites to his shoulder and arm, police said. He underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover.
Miller said he was working on his boat at the Port Renfrew Marina when he heard a “commotion.”
“I just happened to look up and this bear was coming out of the water onto the dock, and right into the back of the guy’s boat and went right at him,” he said Wednesday.
“I had to take a second look ? and the guy’s friend or his brother was standing on the dock screaming.”
Miller ran over with his gaff, a long pole with a sharp hook, and tried to fend off the attack of the bear, weighing about 136 kilograms.
“I gaffed him probably 10 times and was pulling on him and he wouldn’t let go of the victim,” he said.
“Two or three other guys came over to help and put more sharp stuff in it and gaffed it and beat it with a hammer and it wouldn’t let go. Finally another gentleman came over with his filletting knife and cut the bear’s throat.”

BIKERNET NEWS CORRECTION– I’m really sorry to report that the picture on page 5 of the news is not Joann Jett but rather Jenifer Nettels of Sugarland. Sugarland opened for Kid Rock at Hog 25th Anniversary. Joann Jett and the Blackhearts played at 3:30 pm at the Summerfest Grounds. Jennifer Nettels had a Joann Jett something pinned to her t shirt. I know it was around 6 pm when Sugarland came on Stage but just how wasted was Rouge? He should have stayed for Kid Rock as he put on one of the best shows I’ve seen him do.
Our group had a great time at the 105th! The weather was perfect and the parties were rockin.

Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse & Industry Leaders host BIKER FUSION for Soldiers’ Angels at the Doghouse Bar & Grill – Biketoberfest– DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – September 12, 2008 – The Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse announced today it will host a second BIKER FUSION event to benefit Soldiers’ Angels, an organization committed to increasing the morale of deployed troops, helping veterans return home healthy, and bringing comfort to wounded soldiers. This event will be held at the Main Street Doghouse Bar & Grill during Biketoberfest on Thursday, October 16th at 7 p.m.
After the success of the first BIKER FUSION event, held during Daytona Bike Week in March 2008, the motorcycle industry and Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse are teaming up once again to help support our troops and this great cause. During the event, attendees will have a chance to see great bikes from some of the industry’s top builders and mingle with the A-list of the motorcycle industry all while supporting the troops and having a great time at the Doghouse Bar & Grill.
“BIKER FUSION was designed to maintain and support the camaraderie of our industry with a great event through which we could come together and raise money for a worthwhile cause,” said Carrie Repp of R&R Promotions. “Sponsors help underwrite the event so we can keep ticket donation prices at a minimum and put on a fun party. Everyone is asked to give a donation of whatever they can afford and sign our message board that we send to the troops.”
This year’s special guest hosts will be Bruce Rossmeyer of Destination Daytona, Christian Clayton of Sucker Punch Sally’s and Billy Lane of Choppers Inc.
Steve Broyles of Stevenson’s Cycle, Bill Dodge of Bling’s Cycle, Christian Clayton of Sucker Punch Sally’s and Paul Cox of Paul Cox Industries will all have bikes on display all weekend long as part of the Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse’s rolling fleet of the hottest customs. These builders, along with key media figures and motorcycle icons, will also be making appearances to chat with guests and show their support for our troops. The BIKER FUSION event is by invitation only but the general public can buy entrance and rub elbows with the industry elite for just $50
The first BIKER FUSION event raised $30,000 with the specific mission of providing funds to outfit a convoy support center in Iraq, Camp TQ (Taqaddum). Thanks to the generosity of the motorcycle industry and motorcycle fans, Camp TQ now has a new recreation area along with new computers, printers and hardware for a Net-Caf?. The money also helped provide soldiers in the 72nd MP Company Nevada National Guard, 140th Nevada National Guard and the 101 Airborne in Iraq with new electronics, watches, sheets and some other well deserved comforts of home. Here’s what some of the soldiers said about the things they received from the prior events proceeds:
I can honestly say that the PS3 game system you sent has overall been our largest morale builder companywide. I appreciate it and my Soldiers definitely appreciate it. I think it (whether they know this or not) makes the Soldiers feel like they’re back at home in their living room or bedroom for the few hours while they’re playing it – providing relief from the rigors of their daily grind and the heat… Jacob Gonzales, 1SG, USA
They [the soldiers] fight over the play station and which movies to watch. They played for a long period of time [so long] that one of the TVs [has] now gone dead ( the original old one). Sometimes they are so happy and forget to go to sleep. Then their commander would come out screaming and yelling for the unit to go to bed. You should see the look on their faces. They are like little children being yelled at by their Daddy to put all the games away and go to bed… Camp TQ Soldier
BIKER FUSION BiketoberFest ’08 is sponsored by Baker Drivetrain, Broward Motorsports, Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, 360 Brake, R&R Promotions, Spectro Oil, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Sucker Punch Sally’s and Wild Turkey.

JOHN REED, BEST KNOWN BUILDER IN THE WORLD GIVEN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT CCE SHOW IN GERMANY– “I have spent my whole life (and career )trying to show what a dick I am,” said John Reed, ” and you are convinced you are going to fuck up all this work. just for the fun of it. How are you going to embarrass me this time? If I didn’t like your lady as much , I wouldn’t have anything to do with you.”
The interview with John wasn’t going so well, but we kept after him.
” Back street Heroes did a unique series of articles about me. Starting when I was about 20 years old until present. (45 years ),” John continued. “One article ran every month,ie approximately 12 magazines (1 year). Each article was in full color, and approximately five pages long. (approx 60 good-quality, full-color pages, the history of my whole motorcycle life) I carefully questioned you during this time and it was obvious even tho you get a free copy you never saw one of my write ups, but you managed to found one 2 1/2 x 4″ picture of you in back street heroes readers lives page. What a pose you are.”
I wasn’t gaining any points with my long-time mentor.
“I’m just a little old Englishman who was thrown up to the scrap heap and doesnt give a fuck,” John said and hung up.
Shit, I was just trying to congratulate him on his award at the Custom Chrome Europe (CCE) show.

GOOD NEWS ABOUT CUSTOM CHROME–I recently ran into a shop owner who told me Custom Chrome order times are improving.
“In fact ? fill rates are improving and should be at a decent level by November,” said Holger Mohr, the prez, when I spoke to him.
We know how many shops rely on Custom Chrome for parts. This was good news for the industry.

Best of the Beach Bike Show Thunder Beach Rally, Panama City Beach September 27, 2008– Is your bike worthy of being called The Best of the Beach? The search is on!
ThunderBeach Productions to bring a world class bike show to Panama City Beach during the bi-annual motorcycle rallies!
Our spring “Best of the Beach” bike show was a huge success and we instantly outgrew that location so ThunderBeach Productions (the only official rally promotion company for the event) secured Pier Park as the event venue and we’re stoked! This venue is directly in the heart of the beachside shopping district with shops/restaurants and bars all within walking distance, ensuring your bike receives maximum exposure, not only from the motorcyclists who are visiting the rally, but from residents and tourists who might not otherwise come to “motorcycle specific” venues!
In addition to the kick ass location, The Best of The Beach will be awarding over $10,000 in cash and prizes to winners in 8 of the classes. Plus we’ve worked it out so that a couple of the bike show entries will be featured during the Miss Thunderbeach show, and during a photo shoot held at the Boardwalk on Saturday night for the winners of the Miss Thunderbeach contest! (Thanks Kevin!)This is great exposure for your creation and almost as much fun as winning the show! If you want to be a part of that event, download this entry form, or send us a note to scottc@usridernews.com
Make sure you receive a confirmation email and include your cell phone number and a picture of the bike. We will be calling on Thursday to notify the bikes we’ve selected for the photo shoot.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call Scott or Sylvia at 478-237-3761. We hope to see you at the
Fee: $25 per class A portion of the proceeds benefits area Shiner charities and projects.

THAT’S OUR PANCAKE BREAKFAST POST–Okay, so here’s my private report to Cantina Members only. My report card for this quarter. First we had our biggest Bikernet Readership month yet with 380,000 riders coming to Bikernet in one month over 500,000 times. I finished the first draft of my first Chance Hogan book and sent six chapter to our esteemed copy editor Bruce Snyder. The driveline is finally in Brad’s Touring bike and we’re in the process of starting my Sturgis ’09 build early. Not bad.

The two vintage Bonneville bikes we’re working on take a lot of time, but next week I’m taking the Peashooter frame to Todd’s Cycle to have it structually checked, strengthened and Dennis is going to hand fab a gas tank. Rodan is rebuilding the engine and I have a 500 Triumph transmission from Billy Lane. I can’t believe I’m so far ahead of the curve.
That’s all I’ll touch on today. I’m going to take a break and maybe a ride to Pasadena to the Craig Betz party. Another brother down.
Ride Forever,
Bandit
