Hey,
What the hell? This is going to be another wild one. I made a pac with myself, that the Thursday News would be no more than 10,000 words, and the Sunday Post 5,000. You know how I am about stringent rules—fuck ‘em. Plus, either the economy is improving, or it’s riding season, and the news has expanded significantly, like extra rain on weeds. The news has doubled over the last couple of weeks and it’s spilling into the Sunday Post.
So, what’s a poor, over-worked boy to do? First, panic, and then get a grip, I suppose.
Let’s dive right into the news and see what happens, when the whiskey runs dry, the girls leave, and I’m listening to the blues. Time to go for a ride.
This Sunday Post is sponsored in part by Bikerpics.org, thanK our lucky flat black stars.

Just in case anyone cares to catch it. It is supposed to re-air later in the series which is slated for Friday evenings following Piers Morgan for 10 weeks beginning next Friday.

A Poem – by Willie Nelson
My nookie days are over, My pilot light is out.
What used to be my pride and joy, Is now my water spout.
Time was when, on its own accord, From my trousers it would spring.
But now I’ve got a full time job, To find the friggin thing.
It used to be embarrassing, The way it would behave.
For every single morning, It would stand and watch me shave.
Now as old age approaches, It sure gives me the blues.
To see it hang its little head, And watch me tie my shoes!

THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON A MOTORCYCLE–
Riding a motorcycle every day might actually keep your brain functioning at peak condition, or so says a study conducted by the University of Tokyo. The study demonstrated that riders between the age of 40 and 50 were shown to improve their levels of cognitive functioning, compared to a control group, after riding their motorcycles daily to their workplace for a mere two months.
Scientists believe that the extra concentration needed to successfully operate a motorcycle can contribute to higher general levels of brain function, and it’s that increase in activity that’s surely a contributing factor to the appeal of the motorcycles as transportation. It’s the way a ride on a bike turns the simplest journey into a challenge to the senses that sets the motorcyclist apart from the everyday commuter. While the typical car-owning motorist is just transporting him or her self from point A to point B, the motorcyclist is actually transported into an entirely different state of consciousness .
Riding a motorcycle is all about entrance into an exclusive club where the journey actually is the destination.
Dr Ryuta Kawashima, author of Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain, reported the outcome of his study of “The relationship between motorcycle riding and the human mind.”
Kawashima’s experiments involved current riders who currently rode motorcycles on a regular basis (the average age of the riders was 45) and ex-riders who once rode regularly but had not taken a ride for 10 years or more. Kawashima asked the participants to ride on courses in different conditions while he recorded their brain activities. The eight courses included a series of curves, poor road conditions, steep hills, hair-pin turns and a variety of other challenges.
What did he find? After an analysis of the data, Kawashima found that the current riders and ex-riders used their brain in radically different ways. When the current riders rode motorcycles, specific segments of their brains (the right hemisphere of the prefrontal lobe) was activated and riders demonstrated a higher level of concentration.
His next experiment was a test of how making a habit of riding a motorcycle affects the brain.
Trial subjects were otherwise healthy people who had not ridden for 10 years or more. Over the course of a couple of months, those riders used a motorcycle for their daily commute and in other everyday situations while Dr Kawashima and his team studied how their brains and mental health changed.
The upshot was that the use of motorcycles in everyday life improved cognitive faculties, particularly those that relate to memory and spatial reasoning capacity. An added benefit? Participants revealed on questionnaires they filled out at the end of the study that their stress levels had been reduced and their mental state changed for the better.
So why motorcycles? Shouldn’t driving a car should have the same effect as riding a motorcycle?
“There were many studies done on driving cars in the past,” Kawashima said. “A car is a comfortable machine which does not activate our brains. It only happens when going across a railway crossing or when a person jumps in front of us. By using motorcycles more in our life, we can have positive effects on our brains and minds”.

In response to Dr. Weil’s article on arthritis pain. If people go gluten free, it also either eliminates or greatly decreases pain from arthritis.
I started three weeks ago, and have not had to take any form of medication to relieve pain. I still feel it from time to time, but not enough to require anything. Hardest part was finding gluten free beer. After that it was easy.

NMA E-Newsletter #230: Latest SCOTUS Decision Has Profound Implications for Drivers–
The U.S. Supreme Court seems to be taking a schizophrenic view of the Fourth Amendment lately. For the record, here’s the Fourth Amendment in its entirety:? ?The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
About half the states and the federal government have laws allowing DNA collection from individuals upon arrest for certain offenses. Some states collect DNA for all felony arrests while others only do so for those arrested for serious or violent felonies. The DNA information from all of these efforts ends up in a national database where it is ostensibly available to help solve future crimes.
Civil rights groups object to such practices saying they violate Fourth Amendment protections against “unreasonable searches and seizures.” Supporters argue that DNA extraction is no different than lifting a fingerprint or taking a mug shot: an accepted routine even for those not convicted of a crime, used to establish identity.
But civil libertarians rightfully point out that DNA sampling can be used for much more than identity purposes and is far more intrusive than fingerprinting or photographing. They also argue that the King ruling will pave the way for widespread, intrusive, warrantless searches of the general public.
John Whitehead, founder and president of the Rutherford Institute, provides a stark and alarming assessment of Maryland vs. King: “Any American who thinks they’re safe from the threat of DNA sampling, blood draws, and roadside strip … searches simply because they’ve ‘done nothing wrong,’ needs to wake up to the new reality in which we’re now living.”
Note the reference to roadside searches. Whitehead calls out the potential impact on motorists again in this radio interview, in which he states that people will be subjected to DNA sampling in their vehicles. It’s already happened. In 2008, Florida police, looking for a serial killer, made headlines after taking DNA from “persons of interest” during traffic stops.
The answer is simple: A government that can violate your bodily integrity without cause can do anything it wants to you. Motorists’ rights are already routinely violated in myriad ways; it’s not a huge leap to think that drivers will be among the first targeted for more intrusive and illegal searches.
BIKERNET 5-Ball RACING WHEELER REPORT
BUB Speed Trials in 70 days and all of the pieces are connecting like we have a plan? Your 5-Ball Racing Teams, Raycer, 124 inch, Twin Cam, Series 66 Aerocharger Turbo, is on the floor at the Race Tech Suspension facilities in Corona, CA. for the latest in suspension. We’ll delve into the secrets of the Suspension Masters and report our findings.
GOLD VALVE KITS
Gold Valves are Race Tech’s Custom Valving Kits. They are designed to break through the limitations of stock piston designs. Research has shown that the stock piston ports induce unnecessary harshness. Gold Valves are designed to reduce piston restriction so harshness is dramatically reduced. This also allows the valving stack to be personally tailored to the individual rider. Tests have proven that bottoming resistance is actually increased as the harshness is decreased. Traction is also improved.
The key is a careful combination of the Gold Valve itself and the valving stack. Custom setups are computer calculated with the Digital Valving Search (DVS) on this website. Developed and refined for over 18 years, this system calculates the proper setup for the individual rider including spring rates and clicker settings from over 300,000 possible combinations.
Gold Valve Kits are designed to be installed by competent individuals and suspension tuners. A few specialized tools are required. We can help you with choosing the required tools. If you are doing the installation yourself and you get stuck we have free technical support available 951.279.6655 x109.
For ALL applications including Motocross, Offroad, Trial, Hillclimb, Supermoto, Street, Road Race, Drag Racing, and many other applications.
racetech.com
While were on the suspension subject, sprung and unsprung weight are key words in the mix.
In a vehicle with a suspension, such as an automobile, motorcycle or a tank, sprung mass (or sprung weight) is the portion of the vehicle’s total mass that is supported above the suspension, including in most applications approximately half of the weight of the suspension itself. The sprung weight typically includes the body, frame, the internal components, passengers, and cargo, but does not include the mass of the components suspended below the suspension components (including the wheels, wheel bearings, brake rotors, calipers, and/or Continuous tracks (Also called caterpillar tracks), if any), which are part of the vehicle’s unsprung weight.
The larger the ratio of sprung weight to unsprung weight, the less the body and vehicle occupants are affected by bumps, dips, and other surface imperfections such as small bridges. However, a large sprung weight to unsprung weight ratio can also be deleterious to vehicle control.
Since we’re building a street legal/landspeed hot rod, brakes are a major part of the plan. Wheel weight or lack of is extremely important. Our Busa Gen 2 wheels weigh in at 18 on the front and 31 on the rear with tires, extremely strong and proven at speeds on and off of the race track.
Aerodynamics and traction, not much else matters other than horsepower and torque.
Eric Bennett at Bennetts Performance is dyno testing his ride on Monday and the Bikernet Racing and Performance crew will be on hand. You’ll see a report on Thursday.
Thanks….With one helleva lot of help from my family and Industry friends….Thanks, Thanks, Thanks.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY WEEKEND SUNDAY WICKED WORD–wonk wongk, noun:
“This is a guy who has been a policy wonk for his adult life, not only interested in what’s going on but really keeping up with it—and he’s smart as hell.”
…Nick…found himself…running up the staris of the Capitol in pursuit of the senator’s chief aide, a gangly wonk in glasses…
The origin of wonk, a word that entered English as US slang in the 1960s, is unknown, though it might be a shortening of the UK slang wonky
BIKERNET SURVIVAL LESSONS–An old Doberman starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he’s lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old Dobermann thinks, “Oh, oh! I’m in deep shit now!”
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old Dobermann exclaims loudly,
“Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?”
Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.
“Whew!,” says the panther, “That was close! That old Dobermann nearly had me!”
Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.
The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.
The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, “Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what’s going to happen to that conniving canine!”
Now, the old Dobermann sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, “What am I going to do now?,” but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn’t seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old Dobermann says …….
“Where’s that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!”

BIKERNET CERTIFIED PHILOSOPHER SPEAKS ON OUR THOUGHTS AND HOW TO CONTROL THEM–We must say that all thought is creative, according to the nature, impulse, emotion, or conviction behind the thought. Thought creates a mold in the Subjective, in which the idea is accepted and poured, and sets power in motion in accordance with the thought. –Ernest Holmes
I believe there is an Infinite Law of cause and effect. Behind every manifestation is a thought. This Law is impersonal and will manifest what we truly focus our thought on good or bad. A few years ago the movie and book came out called The Secret, it focused on the Law of Attraction. Simply we attract in our Lives what we most think about. One of the reasons I do these morning writings is to get rid of my stinkin’ thinkin’ and replace it with thoughts of how I want to Live my Life.
Every day we are faced with all the challenges and obstacles which try to take us off the course we want to be on. It is up to us to cleanse our Minds and focus on what we want.
I Love the Law for it is up to me, I also don’t like the Law because it is up to me. Have you had a problem that you couldn’t get off your Mind and it only got worse. Of course it would because that is where your focus was. On other hand have you ever had things go right and things just kept getting better, get my point?
My belief that Spirit allows us to choose the Life we want good or bad, It supports what we believe through the Law. Like it or not this is the way it works, think about it.

SUNDAY GUN NUT ALERT–Anti-Gun Researchers Saddling Up to Ride Again
With the racetrack dust having barely settled after this year’s Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and with the final leg of the Triple Crown–the Belmont Stakes–scheduled for this weekend, we can’t help but marvel at the incredible ability of a horse, with 120 pounds on its back, to sustain better than a 35 mph pace over up to 1½ miles, often topping 40 mph in the home stretch.
But no matter how big an appetite the world’s fastest three-year-old Thoroughbreds work up during “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” they haven’t got a thing on gun control supporters in the public health field, when it comes to jockeying for position at the feeding trough.
That’s because the feeding trough the gun control supporters are galloping toward isn’t one that’s filled with oats; it’s one that President Obama wants filled with your tax dollars. In January, Obama issued a memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop a new “gun violence” research agenda “to improve knowledge of the causes of gun violence, the interventions that prevent gun violence, and strategies to minimize the public health burden of gun violence,” and asked Congress to fund the research to the tune of $10 million.
In April, anti-gun public health researchers who spent millions conducting junk science gun control advocacy research in the 1990s, until Congress prohibited the use of federal funds for that purpose, assembled in Washington, D.C. The forum was a panel convened by the Institute of Medicine, on behalf of the CDC, to develop an agenda for gun-related issues the CDC would like to “study” on the taxpayers’ dime.
This week, the researchers–including many of the same people who performed the research in the 1990s–made the resulting agenda public. And what an agenda it is, consisting of a whopping 14 “priorities” and more than 50 subordinate topics, including collecting data about gun ownership, acquisition, and use; issues related to prohibiting private firearm sales; issues related to mandatory storage requirements; and the potential for mandating that guns possess “smart gun” technology–though, to its credit, the agenda recognizes that many gun owners would disable “smart” technology in the interest of improving their firearms’ reliability. (Also to the panel’s credit, the report recognizes that defensive gun uses are common and worthy of further study, as urged by an NRA representative at the meeting.)
How $10 million would cover the vast amount of research proposed remains to be seen. Daniel Webster of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, one of the most prolific anti-gun researchers in the public health field over the last decade, lamented to the New York Times, “given that we are in very lean budget times, the CDC will be faced with difficult decisions about setting priorities.”
BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT WARNING: AVOID USE OF THIS WORD OR IT WILL COST YOU…trousseau TROO-soh, troo-SOH, noun:
…Zhang Yonghong had started to put aside half the money she normally spent on clothes for her trousseau. Although her boyfriends came and went like fleeting clouds, her trousseau grew with the passing months and years as steadily as if vows of everlasting love had been exchanged.
Isn’t there need of it for the dresses which they are sending to you, and for the trousseau which I am giving? And a suitable trousseau to go with the dowry of two hundred thousand francs, will cost fifteen thousand.
Trousseau entered English from the Old French trousse meaning “bundle.” In the 1200s it was used to describe a bundle of keys, and it was not until the 1800s that it came to mean the clothes and linens of a bride.

In 1975 and 1976 Denny raced the 125 nationals before spending the following four years on a Maico in the 250 and 500 classes in the Supercross and Outdoor series. With 1980 being his most successful, Denny landed himself in the top ten multiple times during these years. Throughout his glorious year of 1980, Denny stood at 3rd overall on the podium in High Point, and the very next week captured first overall in the 500cc class at the Red Bud National.
As the last racer to give Maico a professional motocross win, “Denny is so often described as a humble guy that has helped so many racers over the years. A motocross legend in the North East” Alex Moroz and Mike Owens, managing partners of the Legends and Heroes tour state. “As a Maico factory rider, Denny was a consistent top ten finisher and placed on the podium with the likes of Hannah, Tony D, and other great champs of his time.”
Don’t forget to stop by the Legends and Heroes of Motocross Tour rig to meet Denny and get your hands on an autograph; he will be available during half time at the entrance of the Pro pits.

FROM THE NORML HEADQUARTERS–Carson City, NV: Lawmakers gave final approval this week to legislation, Senate Bill 374, to allow for the establishment of licensed facilities to dispense cannabis to state-qualified patients. The measure passed with two-thirds majorities in both legislative chambers. It now awaits action from Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval, who has acknowledged that he is open to the idea of regulating medical cannabis dispensaries.
If signed into law, SB 374 would establish rules and regulations for the establishment of up to 66 not-for-profit medical marijuana dispensaries.
Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey, Maine, and New Mexico have operational state-licensed medical cannabis dispensaries. Similar dispensary outlets are in the process of opening in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, DC.
Nevada voters enacted legislation in 2000 to allow for physician authorized patients to consume and grow cannabis. However, the law does not provide for facilities where authorized patients may obtain medicinal cannabis.
Approximately 3,800 Nevadans are presently authorized to grow and/or consume cannabis under state law.

HANG ON FOR THIS WEEK—I have such a blast with Bikernet and the Cantina. It’s like adding pages to a magazine everyday, and it’s always available 24/7. This week we have another Tail Gunner techs headed your way, and the Code of the West is ardently covered by Sarge. We have a new Girl of Bikernet in the wings already, and my major publishing effort will be with the first Assalt Weapon II article for Bonneville 2014 and our streamlined trike. You’ll see the concept and thoughts spilled on the pages of Bikernet. Doesn’t mean it will make a lick of sense, but what the hell.
That’s not all. I need to edit another chapter of World Run from Chance Hogan, and Rogue sent us a touring tech on dresser headlights. You might see it pop up on Bikernet Baggers, along with the Cigar of the Week. I’m waiting for my first bottle of Wyoming Whiskey. Ray C. Wheeler is putting together a full tech on suspension adjustments from Race Tech Suspension.
I try to post content on a daily basis, but the stars are not always lined up perfectly. We also have about three bike features in the wings. Never a dull moment. Have a terrific week!
Ride Forever,
–Bandit
