Hey,
We had a party last night and the Redhead of Redheads is a little under the weather this morning. Some of the group stumbled toward Maya’s to return the catering gear, have Huevos Rancheros and loads of Java.
I listened to several reports on the show, and a complete rundown on the Marijuana industry. And Ducati Scramblers came up a few times.
Let’s hit the news. The Long Beach Show was jammed yesterday. Progressive Insurance did a helluva job promoting it.
BIKE SHOW ANIMAL ATTACKS, WATCH OUT– A research project was done on what types of humans were the recipients of animal attacks. When Montanans were asked they uniformly proclaimed it was “The slow ones.”

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day drinking beer.
Two engineering students were biking across a university campus when one said, “Where did you get such a great bike?” The second engineer replied, “Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, “Take what you want.”
The first engineer nodded approvingly and said, “Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn’t have fit you anyway.”
To the optimist, the glass is half-full. To the pessimist, the glass is half-empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

I am an avid follower of Scotty’s. I read and listen lay closely to all of his adventures. When I first heard of his and Charlie’s crash, my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes.
I witnessed his strong loving and resilient nature spring forth. Never taken aback or nonplussed he displayed a strength of character and fortitude, for which I for one have learned to value and attempt to emulate in my daily life.
I have the utmost honor and respect for this man, who I call friend.

MEDIA ON SAFETY AND FREEDOM— There are lots of reports jumping around the airways on this issue and it pisses me off. One of my major gripes is the lack of focus on Freedom in the Land of the Free.
I say Freedom works in more ways than one. What if we focused on safety regulation’s impact the populace? Don’t we want a strong, educated, aware, empowered populace with masses of self-esteem? That’s what freedom provides.
The outcome would be a unified citizenry who are aware of the threats, and can take care of themselves and their neighbors.
Sounds like utopia to me.

THE ROGUE REPORT– You may remember back in the days we were with Easyriders I exposed a Connecticut State Trooper confiscating motorcycles that had not been stolen.
That trooper in retaliation confiscated my motorcycle, which was later returned and he also tried to plant drugs on me. Luckily a local officer had previously searched me and testified that I did not have drugs on me.
When Easyriders posted the story the same trooper confiscated Leon’s rodeo puller bike. That motorcycle was also ordered returned.
Many articles have appeared through the years about this officer and the Biker Task Force and the motorcycles they have confiscated.
This covers just a small portion of cops stealing property.

For decades now, federal government and their cohorts in law enforcement have been carrying out theft of the citizenry on a massive scale. We’re not talking about taxes, but an insidious power known as Civil Asset Forfeiture (CAF).
The 1980s-era laws were designed to drain resources from powerful criminal organizations, but CAF has become a tool for law enforcement agencies across the U.S. to steal money and property from countless innocent people.
No criminal charge is required for this confiscation, resulting in easy inflows of cash for law enforcement departments and the proliferation of abuse. This phenomenon is known as “policing for profit.”
In the last 25 years, the amount of “profit” stolen through CAF has skyrocketted.
According to the US Department of Justice, the value of asset forfeiture revoceries by US authorities from 1989-2010 was $12,667,612,066, increasing on average 19.5% per year.
In 2008, law enforcement took over $1.5 billion from the American public. While this number seems incredibly large, just a few years later, in 2014, that number tripled to nearly $4.5 billion.
When we examine these numbers, and their nearly exponential growth curve, it appears that police in America are getting really good at separating the citizen from their property — not just really good, criminally good.
To put this number into perspective, according to the FBI, victims of burglary offenses suffered an estimated $3.9 billion in property losses in 2014.
That means that law enforcement in America has stolen $600,000,000 more from Americans that actual criminal burglars.
When police surpass the criminal accomplishments of those they claim to protect you from, there is a serious problem.
The good news is that Americans are waking up to this Orwellian notion of police robbing the citizens, and they are taking a stand.
Even police officers are taking a stand against CAF. In an exclusive interview in September, the Free Thought Project talked officer Stephen Mills, chief of police at the Apache, Oklahoma police department. Mills became an outspoken advocate against CAF, after he became a victim of it.
The idea of thieving cops has also united organizations on opposite ends of the political spectrum. In October, the ACLU and the Koch Brothers came together to stop the inherent police theft in America.
While the police keep grabbing your property, it is important to remain vigilant. Only through a lesser ignorance and the spreading of information will we overcome this blatant tyranny. Please share this article with your friends and family to wake them up to the criminal reality that is. – civil asset forfeiture.

GUN NUT REPORT– Urgent: Contact the DOJ TODAY to Voice your Concerns with DOJ’s Proposed Firearm Safety Certificate Regulations
The California Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently considering public comments on a package of proposed permanent regulations to implement California’s Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) and “safe-handling” requirements. As drafted, the proposed regulations impose overly burdensome and unworkable requirements on California gun owners, retailers and certified instructors.
On November 18, 2015, a dealer representative association, FFLGuard, submitted a detailed response to DOJ, including several suggested revisions to the proposed regulations. NRA and CRPA lawyers and staff worked with dealers throughout the state and with FFLGuard to make those comments as comprehensive as possible. NRA and CRPA have also submitted their own comments. We urge you to review each of these comment letters and contact the DOJ to voice your concerns today.
It is critical that DOJ hears from you before the comment deadline expires on November 24, 2015 at noon. You can also attend a public hearing on the regulations on November 24, 2015 between 10:00AM-12:00PM at the Resources Building Auditorium, 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, California 95814.
As firearm owners may recall, pursuant to Senate Bill 683, the DOJ was required to adopt formal regulations for the FSC and safe handling requirements before January 1, 2015. The NRA and CRPA were actively involved in reminding the DOJ of their obligations concerning the adoption of formal regulations prior to the January 2015 deadline. However, the DOJ failed to adopt timely regulations, and did not begin to implement any regulations until NRA and CRPA brought litigation.
A portion of DOJ’s proposed permanent regulations are provided below:
All certified instructors (CIs) must apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) upon application and reapply for a COE each year; CIs must have access to a personal computer, printer, internet connection and major credit card (no cash or checks) in order to issue FSCs;
CIs must retain completed FSC test answer sheets and make them available upon request by any peace officer, or authorized DOJ personnel, even if they are no longer working for the licensed dealer where the FSC test was taken; and…only individual CIs who issued the original FSC may issue a replacement FSC via the Firearms Certification System to the original FSC holder.
After reviewing all of the proposed regulations, FFLGuard consulted with NRA, CRPA, experts, lawyers and numerous firearm dealers and certified instructors before submitting written comments to the DOJ and rewriting many of the regulations to make them more workable. NRA and CRPA agree with FFLGuard’s comments and the efforts of California firearm retailers to address the many problems with the proposed FSC regulations.
Again, NRA and CRPA have submitted additional comments and we ask you to contact the DOJ and urge them to take all comments submitted to heart and to adopt the proposed revisions. You may do so by either submitting a public comment and/or attending the hearing.
The period for written comments by the public ends on November 24, 2015 at noon. It is vital that you let the DOJ know how you feel about the proposed permanent regulations prior to that deadline. You can address your comments to:
Jeff Amador
Department of Justice
P.O. Box 160487
Sacramento, CA 95816-0487
Email: jeff.amador@doj.ca.gov
Should you wish to share your concerns at the public hearing, it will be held on November 24, 2015, between 10:00AM-12:00PM at the Resources Building Auditorium, 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, California 95814.
Be sure to let the DOJ know who you are, where you live, and your interest in these regulations (e.g. as a concerned firearm owner, firearm dealer/employee, or certified instructor). Feel free to use the format we have prepared, available here.

BIKERNET SAFETY MEMO, DEER ALERT– Despite the faltering Green Bay Packers, Cheeseheads can still rejoice since this weekend is the opening of white-tailed deer hunting season in Wisconsin. And with it comes increased risk of a deer-vehicle collision.
According to State Farm Insurance, the odds of having an accident claim involving a deer, elk or moose are 1 out of 169, the same as in 2014. For the ninth straight year, West Virginia tops the list of states where such accidents are likely at 1 in 44. Hawaii, also for the ninth straight year, rounds out the bottom of the list for such accidents at 1 in 8,765. Check here to see where your state ranks.
Deer-vehicle accidents spike during the mating season (October through December) when deer are most active. However, accidents also go up in spring when young deer begin to move around on their own.
Deer-vehicle accidents can be serious. According to State Farm, an estimated 1.23 million deer collisions occurred in the U.S. between July 2011 and June 2012, causing more than $4 billion in vehicle damage. In 2013 alone State Farm reported that deer collisions resulted in 191 fatalities.
Here are a few tips to help you avoid a dangerous and expensive collision with Odocoileus virginianus or related species.
Be especially alert around dusk and dawn. That’s when deer are most active.
Use your high beams as much as possible and scan the roadside for any sudden movements.
On a multi-lane road, consider moving to the left lane if you won’t impede traffic (one of our few exceptions to Lane Courtesy). This creates a “buffer zone” on each side giving you more time to react should a deer pop out.
Don’t rely on deer whistles. They don’t work.
Deer travel in herds. When one crosses the road, look for more to follow.
If a collision is inevitable, stomp on the brakes but try to stay in your lane.
Swerving increases the risk of colliding with an oncoming vehicle or a roadside obstruction.
Pay attention to deer crossing signs. That’s where the deer cross. And no, you can’t relocate a deer crossing simply by moving the sign, as some suggest.
Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable in a deer collision. Be safe.
For a few more tips, review some prior newsletters here and here.
