Texas Vindicta Rides Again

The crew getting together for our weekly “meeting” and Wednesday night ride.

This 2010 season is starting to warm up in Southeast Texas, so the guys of Vindicta are gearing up for several events. We try to meet up every Wednesday at a downtown location before heading out for a ride, dinner, another ride, and maybe a nighttime show. This past Wednesday had a great showing of over 20 bikes at one meet location.

The crowd gathers and the numbers grow. A brotherhood is developing within the ranks.

The ride left Loop 610 and merged onto I-45 before hitting the beltway. We ran 15+ bikes running 80 mph, while slipping in and out of traffic. Riding in a group is a completely different experience from riding alone. Night riding heightens every wind-whipped sense to a higher level. Couple all this with riding Harley’s most technologically advanced machine, and you have a white knuckle adventure worth remembering.

As we passed onto Beltway 8 from I-45, there was a V-Rod parked in the emergency lane waiting on us. As we passed by he ripped through the gears and caught us in time to ride at the rear of the pack with the other prospects and the Sgt. at arms trailing to motivate any stragglers. He said the sight of us coming around the corner was as breathtaking as anything he had ever witnessed on two wheels.

We were headed to Brickhouse Tavern on 59 and 1960 to have some steak and a beer or two. No heavy drinking, but a beer among friends is okay with a meal…at least that’s my philosophy. I know El Bandito is deathly afraid of drinking and then riding, well, the way he rides he very well should be. One of our members wasn’t able to meet us downtown, so he hung out at the Brickhouse. He observed the pack rolling in and describes it better than I could.

The row of bikes parked at Brickhouse’s “Motorcycle Only” parking. Cool setup we will be sure to use again!

“I got to experience the awesome sound and sight of you guys leaving the light and crossing the overpass to downshift into the parking lot. Awesome vibrations and in-sync power was felt as the Rods turned in. Hard to describe but definitely stronger sounding than a bunch of air-cooled twins. Heads turned, panties got wet and the beer started to flow!”

The hostesses at Brickhouse were very friendly. At the sight of my camera they immediately asked if I would take their picture. I didn’t realize how much attention the camera can attract. I may start carrying one everywhere.

The Brickhouse Tavern welcomed us and we enjoyed Dos Equis and Fat Tire beer while chowing down on appetizers and Sloppy Joe dinner. Before long the patio was filled with Vindicta, mostly discussing the V-Rods and Hot Bods event taking place at Republic Harley-Davidson on March 20th. HOT BODS AND VRODS! This will be a VRSC model specific motorcycle event at republic Harley-Davidson in Stafford, Texas. Geared to those who love V-ROD in an effort to bring the V-Rod community together in the Greater Houston Area.

There will be dynos, shows, hot bods, burnout contests, and more! The excitement was definitely building for this event.

Ordering our food while enjoying pitchers of our, uh,…tea.

We discussed where our club is heading and what we have to do this year. Hopefully after one year we will be able to have a rocker placed on our vests, but that is up to another group, of which I am not involved. Things should go smoothly this next year, but we are being careful to watch our steps making sure we travel the correct pathways. One thing is for certain, Vindicta is making its mark in Houston and the surrounding areas.

Unfortunately, I had to cut out early as work starts at 5 am. I bid my farewells and took off for home. While making the trip to the house, I had to thank the Man upstairs for allowing me to accomplish what I have, experiencing this lifestyle, and also for having the medium to share it with the world. What better way to spend my free time?
