Hey,
It’s so interesting, this year, the elections, our freedoms, and the ever-growing government. So many folks feel this year and this election is critical to our future. In many respects, I hope so. If we can witness Freedom honored and real change occur, then we have a shot.
It’s all good. Kids are now asking about politics and what the parties represent. Maybe they are finally waking up. I hope so.
Let’s hit the news. It’s never too late to get involved.
SUNDAY GUN NUT REPORT–
Yesterday, some nut sponsored a nationwide challenge to people to “wear orange for (so-called) ‘gun violence’ awareness.” The timing worked out perfectly, as the smoke from the murder-suicide on the campus of UCLA had barely cleared.
The orange soiree arrived mere days after disgraced ex-journalist Katie Couric’s film “Under the Gun” stove-piped badly. The film, which earned endorsements from not only the anti-liberty crowd but the White House itself, turned out to be a bigger sham than so-called “global warming.”
Even as our leftist friends were donning their best tangerine duds, the film was headed to the non-premium lineup of a little-watched cable channel named “EPIX;” the TV equivalent of the remaindered rack at a bookstore.
In the wake of every one of these senseless tragedies, the be-oranged set demands more restrictions on not only citizens’ rights to defend themselves, but their right to know that their children and loved ones are safe from the thugs and lunatics to whom anti-gun laws are practically “Open For Business” signs.
Liberals are fond of pointing to the proliferation of firearms as cause for “school shootings” and “gun violence.” They’re less fond of being reminded that the most violent places in America are the urban slums of the cities with the strictest gun laws. Guns don’t have a causal relationship to crime; if they did, placid communities in places liberals fly over would be ghost towns. Wear all the orange you want; just remember to wear black to the funerals.

MEET THE MACHINE GUN PREACHER at SMOKE OUT 17– The Machine Gun Preacher, Sam Childers, is a guy who overcame a life of negative, self-interested violence to become a rebel of hope, waging a 13-year war to free enslaved children. He’ll be at the Smoke Out on Friday and Saturday. Sam’s story is told in the Hollywood movie, “Machine Gun Preacher,” where Sam is played by Girard Butler.
I would highly recommend that you watch this movie on Netflix (or rent it) before the event.
The Mother Teresa International Award for Social Justice was presented to Sam in 2013 and he is currently the only American to have received this prestigious recognition for his work.
Not long after his first trip to Sudan, Childers and his wife Lynn founded the Angels of East Africa, the Children’s Village in Southern Sudan.
The Children’s Village currently houses and educates over 100 orphans, with over a thousand children rescued since its conception.
The staff at the Children’s Village are primarily Sudanese orphans and widows themselves.

MORE FROM THE GUN NUT CLUB HOUSE– NRA Response to Gun Control Lobby’s Endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
The chairman of the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund, Chris W. Cox, released the following statement regarding the gun control lobby’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton:
“The Second Amendment is on the ballot this November. Hillary Clinton does not believe that law-abiding Americans have the right to use a firearm to protect themselves in their homes.
She said the Supreme Court got it wrong in its landmark Heller decision, which held that the Second Amendment guarantees the individual right to keep and bear arms.
Gun control groups are endorsing Hillary Clinton because they believe that she will work to eliminate individual gun ownership in this country.”

MONSTER ENERGY Sweeps the Harley-Davidson Flat-Track Competition at X Games Austin 2016– Jared Mees, Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. and Brad Baker take Gold, Silver and Bronze, respectively.
Monster Energy athletes swept the podium with Jared Mees taking his first gold medal at the Harley-Davidson Flat-Track competition on opening night of X Games Austin 2016. Setting the stage for a spectacular weekend of action to come, teammates Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. claimed silver, while Brad “The Bullet” Baker finished third.
On a track that was essentially underwater just a day before due to torrential and often violent thunderstorms across South Texas, crews worked tirelessly to get the course in shape for the evening’s main event. However, Mother Nature was kind tonight as the clouds parted and the race went off as planned.
From the beginning it was anyone’s race with a mishap taking out two of last year’s top finishers on the first lap. Vying for the lead it was Mees and Coolbeth Jr, who provided the most intense action of the race toying with one another’s position early on. Yet by the 9th lap Mees began to secure his spot in the lead on his high-powered Harley.
“I just felt good today. I felt good in practice yesterday and I felt good in qualifiers earlier,” said Mees.
Though Coolbeth, Jr. did give him a run for the money, ultimately Mees fended off his teammates tenacity for the remaining half of the race to take his first ever gold medal at the X Games.
“I got up to Jared and showed him a wheel too soon,” admitted Coolbeth. “He saw that, played defense and from there it was just following him.”
Meanwhile, Brad Baker repeated his same feat of last year hanging on to third ahead of the pack of hungry racers.
Mees, who hails from the small town of Clio, Michigan and is a three-time AMA Pro Flat-Track Grand Champion was all smiles after the race adding, “It just feels amazing. You never know with this, it’s a dangerous sport and Mother Nature can play a part as well, so right now I’m just honored to win gold.”

AGING REBEL ROAD SAFETY WARNING– This road condition is Very Dangerous For Motorcyclist.
Edge traps are most deadly when a rider attempts to immediately ease back into the correct lane at an angle of less than 45 degrees. The correct riding tactic for negotiating an edge trap is to ride away from the edge trap then swerve back in order to bump over the edge trap at an angle above 45 degrees.
Mississippi Edge Trap Lawsuit
Adams died after he strayed into the wrong lane in December 2010 and failed to negotiate an edge trap when he tried to steer back..
The ruling explains: “Christopher Adams died from injuries he sustained when his motorcycle wrecked on Interstate 10 in Jackson County. After traveling north on Interstate 110 in Harrison County, Adams merged onto an eastbound lane of I-10, where he entered a construction zone.
According to the complaint, Adams inadvertently drove into a closed lane and then, when he tried to navigate back into an open lane, his motorcycle hit an uneven surface between lanes and “rotated.” Adams was thrown from his motorcycle and into traffic, where two other vehicles hit him, causing injuries from which he later died.”
Claimed Immunity
The two state agencies had claimed they were immune from liability in the incident and had requested a summary judgment against the widow in 2014. Jackson County Circuit Judge Robert Krebs ruled against the state and the supreme court affirmed his decision.
Dominique Adams is also suing Mallette Brothers Construction Company, Inc., the Gautier company that actually did the road work. Mallette Brothers was legally obligated to follow certain standard practices, like re-striping the road each day, and the state was obliged to ensure the construction company followed those standard practices.
According to a highway safety expert named V.O. “Dean” Tekell Jr. who testified in the case, the state highway agencies “knew or should have known of Mallette Brothers’ non-compliance with the Traffic Control Plan,” and they “failed to require Mallette Brothers to place a solid white traffic stripe in the area of the subject incident and failed to require the placement of drums in conformance with the traffic control detail.”
Edge Traps
Edge traps (sometimes called pavement edge drop offs) result from milling one lane in a multi-lane highway before that lane is resurfaced. The milled lane often feels like ice or oil to motorcyclists. When a road is milled poorly the resulting grooves may vary greatly in size and direction.
The process also creates a lane that is two or more inches lower than the adjacent, un-milled lane. This drop off in the height of adjoining lanes is called an edge trap.
In September 2009, two motorcyclists named Jude Bihari and Ronald Ross were killed in separate incidents about eight hours apart as a result of an edge trap on Route 295 near Bordentown, New Jersey. There are no federal standards to ensure motorcyclists safety in road construction zones.
Christopher Adams fatal mistake may have been trying to return to the proper lane too quickly.

Such heaped up platters of cakes of various and almost indescribable kinds, known only to experienced Dutch housewives! There was the doughty doughnut, the tender olykoek, and the crisp and crumbling cruller …
— Washington Irving, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” The Sketch Book, 1820
Origin of olykoek
Olykoek is an Americanism with roots in New York Dutch. It is formed on the basis of the Dutch oliekoek meaning “oilseed cake,” equivalent to olie, “oil,” plus koek, “cake.”

LAW TIGERS Presenting Sponsor Hooligan Dirt Dash– Racing Fans Are Coming Back for the Hooligans
Although the term “hooligan” brings to mind a brash young troublemaker, Hooligan racers are hardly the violent type. Dirt track racing is certainly nothing new, and, in fact, it is one of the oldest forms of motorcycle racing.
Yet, although the dirt bikes are still insanely fast, and the tracks just as unforgiving, attendance at dirt tracks has seemed to lose some momentum as fans have looked elsewhere for their racing fix – until now.
Law Tigers, America’s Motorcycle Lawyers
Hooligan Racing Started Out as Crashing and Entertaining the Crowd
That is, until former racer and custom bike builder Roland Sands took a major interest in dirt track, particularly the Hooligan class. Over the past eight years, Sands, along with his closest friends, have participated in numerous Hooligan events, both locally in California, as well as across the nation.
According to Sands, the Hooligans began racing at Costa Mesa, nearly a decade ago with Rad Brad Oxley. In the beginning, it was about nothing but all-out fun. Sands says they began racing Harley Softails in a show that was about “crashing and entertaining the crowd” as much as it was about racing.

Hooligan Racing Started Out as Crashing and Entertaining the Crowd
Hooligans Take Las Vegas
Since that time, the Hooligans have turned themselves into a legitimate race class, even being welcomed by the AMA to compete at the Super Prestigio in Las Vegas. While different motorcycles are used by the Hooligans, the bikes are not purposely build for dirt tracks—which makes it more fun and entertaining both for the spectators as well as the riders. At the Las Vegas race, the Super Hooligans showed the world what flat track racing on a heavy bike with smaller pistons and fewer gears, on a tight dirt oval is all about.
Hooligans Transcend Competitiveness for Camaraderie
The Hooligans exhibit a camaraderie which transcends the usual competitiveness seen in dirt bike racing. In case you are wondering, “hooligan” is the class of race, or the rules of the races. While GNC dirt bike racing has many rules regarding how the bike must be set up, types of bikes, etc., the Hooligans have much more freedom to play fast and loose. Although the Hooligans began racing Harley Softails, they have largely gone to the dirt track version of the Indian Scout Sixty.
The Hooligan Dirt Dash
In Hooligan races, there are only four laps to qualify for the main event, and eight laps in the main event. Some equate the size of the Hooligan track to that of a large living room, meaning there is much more brawling for position in the race—and no front brakes on the cycles. The Hooligan Dirt Dash is scheduled to take place in New Braunfels, Texas on June 4th. The Dirt Dash is more like a series, or an event. Sturgis hosted a dirt dash last year, and the spectators loved it. Hooligan racers, race under Hooligan rules, then add in fun, cool races such as the kid’s race and the kickstand race. All in all, a night spent watching the Hooligans race is reminiscent of a night at the races which harkens back to the hey-day of dirt bike racing.
Hooligan Racers Love the Sport
If you take away one thing about the Hooligans, it should be that Hooligan racing encompasses a different type of rider, a different type of bike, and a different type of riding than typical dirt bike racing. The backgrounds of the riders vary from freestyle motocross pros to vintage bike builders. What they all have in common is a love of motorcycle. Roland Sands, Chopper Dave, Josh Johnson, Shaun Guardado, Gabriel Vidrio, Ben Giese and Ed Subias—these are a few of the great racers you will find at a Hooligan dirt bike race. Come see the Hooligans ride, and be ready to have some fun!

WE HAD TO CUT THIS ONE SHORT – Because we’re suiting up and blasting to Bartels’ H-D and the Redhead is making chilli, on site, under specific Chili Cook-Off rules for the competition.
We will show off some of our 5-Ball Leather Line, make chili, sign new and old books and hang out. I hope the parts department is open, ‘cause I need some Evo spark plugs and a sealed headlight. I hope they have me covered.
We are forced, under the Bartels’ Chili Guidelines to get up at the crack of dawn, wash our hands and report to the site for cooking. Hang on for the results.
Then next week will kick off with a new adventure, that for sure.
