Too Late Sunday Post

Hey,

Life is nuts and so is the news. Get this, the Post office is about cooked. They need to downsize or they will be out of business. They just don’t compete anymore with e-mail, UPS, or Fedex. They can’t pay the 5.5 billion dollar payment to fund future retirees’ healthcare benefits. Seems Congress has been dodging necessary cost cutting measurements so they won’t upset the voters. Good god, why doesn’t anyone do the right thing.

Ah but there’s hope. The Fresno County, CA, schools Superintendent, Larry Powell cut his own salary from $290,000 to $31,000. He doesn’t want impending cuts to affect his employees.

I don’t get the constant debate between freedom and regulation in the news. They make it a black and white issue. I believe there is a middle ground. Educate folks and let them make wise choices. We don’t need more government agencies that become corrupt and cost a fortune. Remember, that’s what our brothers died for: Freedom, not more regulation. There is a way.

Get this: A Florida lawmaker sponsored a law against kids wearing low-rider pants. And in Texas the legislature approved raising the speed limit on some rural highways to 85 mph. Wow! Let’s hit the news and honor 911. Sorry this is late, our server doctor lost his patient and the server blew up. Good god.

HOT ROD ENGINE FROM R&R–
Here is a 147″ R&R Engine that we just replaced the pistons in. We jacked the compression to 11.5 to 1 and changed it to the Monster cam. These will run around 165-175 torque.

AMAZING ANTIGRAVITY BATTERIES–
Antigravity Batteries manufactures Premium HI-POWER, lightweight batteries. Our batteries are appoximately 80% lighter than typical lead/acid batteries, they offer double the Cranking Amps yet can be half the size of Lead/Acid batteries. No other lithium or lead battery offers a more compact size with higher cranking amps. We make these performance batteries for Motorcycles, ATVs, Watercraft, Side by Sides and Track/Race Cars. Our product is made in America using power cells manufactured by the same American manufacturer that supplies cells to Ford, GM, Toyota and Tesla to name a few. We do not use the Chinese knock-off of this nano technology battery cell in an effort to cut costs. Our design and build quality is unmatched. Please take a look at our batteries and you will see the attention to detail, function and good looks.

Antigravity Batteries work great in all Motorcycle and Motorsports applications, no special charging or service required. The benefits include much better vehicle starting due to the much higher cranking amps which spin the motor fast and keep voltage higher at start up. Extreme weight loss, up to 14 pound in motorcycles and 27 pounds in race cars…this allows for better acceleration, braking and handling. The extremely small size opens up room for performance items like Power Commanders to be placed in the battery tray, or for custom builders it allows for lower seat heights or hiding the battery for a cleaner look. Additionally our batteries offer a longer lifespan than lead/acid without the need for maintanence or trickle charging.

Antigravity Batteries are not effected by vibration and excel in race and high performance use where POWER, lightweight and durability are desired. Antigravity Batteries are a mere fraction of the cost of Titanium or Carbon Fibre, yet offer up 20 times the weight savings of those very expensive products!

Next week Ray C. Wheeler, Bikernet Performance Editor, will reach out to AB in order to test their units in Bikernet motorcycles. We will bring you the results.–Wrench

CHARGING ISSUES IN THE BIKERNET HEADQUARTERS–
I have run across this kind of thing with semi fresh customs and often times it turns out to be the lack of a good ground (or the once good ground has some corrosion or oil in there), might be that the regulator isn’t getting a good enough ground to keep it chargin’ right also.

With high compression bikes I like to run dual grounds, one to the chassis and one to the starter. . . .don’t know if any of this might help but what the hell?

BIKERNET BLONDE FILES OPENED–
A blonde heard that baths in milk would make her beautiful. She left a note for her milkman to leave 25 gallons of milk.
When the milkman read the note, he felt there must be a mistake. He thought she probably meant 2.5 gallons. So he knocked on the door to clarify the point.

The blonde came to the door and the milkman said, “I found your note asking me to leave 25 gallons of milk. Did you mean 2.5 gallons?”
The blonde said, “No, I want 25 gallons. I’m going to fill my bathtub up with milk and take a milk bath so I can look young and beautiful again.”

The milkman asked, “Do you want it pasteurized?”
The blonde said, “No, just up to my tits.
I can splash it on my eyes.”

BIKERNET BIOFUEL TESTING LAB FINDINGS–
A major new research project is to get underway in Europe to advance the production of algae as a source of green oil in more challenging climates such as the UK.
The £12.3 million initiative, called EnAlgae, aims to establish the productivity potential of North West Europe as an algae-growing region. The four and half year research programme will aim to find out whether countries such as the UK can grow algae on a large-scale and cost-effectively for use as biofuels and other green products.

Algae hold significant potential as sustainable alternative energy to fossil-based oils and are considered to be environmentally, ecologically and socially more desirable than biofuels made from food crops. However, up until now research and development into algae as a green source of fuel has mainly been in warmer climates, where algae can be grown more easily.

“Much of the focus so far has been on the production of algae in more favourable climates, such as the US, but there is a distinct lack of information about how algae grow at scale in more challenging climates,” Dr Claire Smith, algae lead at the NNFCC, the UK’s National Centre for Biorenewable Energy, Fuels and Materials, one of the organisations involved in the project.

Algae can be grown on non-arable land using seawater. TheEnAlgae project will establish a series of pilot seaweed farms and microalgae growth facilities in North West Europe. The information gathered will be used to analyse the value and carbon emissions reductions achievable from making fuel, energy and other products from algae in North West Europe. The research project will also develop a computer-based tool to work out how and where algae could be grown in the region.

Potential of algae
Globally, initial forecasts suggest that algae-based biofuels could replace over 70 billion litres of fossil-derived fuels used annually in road transport and aviation by 2030 – equivalent to 12 per cent of annual global jet fuel consumption or six per cent of road transport diesel. This would equate to an annual carbon saving of over 160 million tonnes of CO2 globally.

The Carbon Trust, which is running its own UK-based research project to commercialise algae biofuel as an alternative to fossil-based oil, says algae could deliver six to 10 times more energy per hectare than conventional cropland biofuels.

EnAlgae is being principally funded by the EU and the Welsh Government’s Targeted Match Fund. The UK lead partner on the project is Wale’s Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Research, Other UK organisations taking part include Birmingham City University, InCrops Enterprise Hub, National Non-Food Crops Centre, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Queen’s University Belfast and the Scottish Association for Marine Science.

BROUGH SUPERIOR ON THE SALT FLATS–
160 mph Brough Superior

Brough Superior heads to Bonneville salt flats to break speed records. Built by ex- Honda F1 engineer. It’s the first Brough Bonneville speed attempt for 62 years.

Brough Superior is breaking the AMA Record, in the Category 1350-A-VG average 124,98 mph

Englishman Noel Pope, the fastest ever motor-cyclist at Brooklands, went to Bonneville with a streamlined Brough Superior some 60 years ago but, sadly, suffered a high speed crash on his first test run. Though not badly hurt the project had to be abandoned. Brough has unfinished business at Bonneville.

Mindful of the engineering challenge Brough Superior revisited Bonneville in August 2011 with a newly constructed Brough Superior SS100 Retro. Targeting the VGA Vintage Class for rigid frame, girder forks, and un-streamlined, the Brough will run on pump gasoline. Piloting the 1150cc machine, will be the experienced English rider Eric Patterson, who achieved his first LSR at Bonneville in 2008 on his own Norton, in the pre-1956 pushrod Production Category at 121.79 mph.

The Brough Superior SS100 Retro for Bonneville 2011 has been Designed and built by Alastair Gibson; Brough Superior’s Chief Engineer in England. Alastair was formerly chief race mechanic for BAR Honda Formula One, and states, “When I was approached by Mark with the prospect of running such a sound retro design I was immediately inspired. On my previous visit to Bonneville in 2006 we broke the existing record with our Honda Formula I car, so I do know the enormity of the task with which we are faced!”

Mark Upham, Brough Superior’s CEO, says, “We are under no illusions concerning the setbacks we will encounter on our first visit to Bonneville which, to us, is the Blue Ribbon of competition. But, with such a beautiful product – and the care that Alastair has invested – I am confident of success!”

2011 BIKERNET Book Review: Ketchup Soup–
Author James Houck delivers up a rollicking good time in Ketchup Soup. James Reichardt from Kansas goes to New Orleans as a young man seeking his fortune. Full of grit and determination, young James does not let the fact that he is a complete idiot get in the way of his plan for success. Along the way James works in advertising, tree removal and dabbles in booze and nutmeg. He also buys a Big Twin motorcycle named Big Lucy and falls in with a gang of 1%’ers despite the fact that he doesn’t know how to ride a bike. In the tradition of Mark Twain, Houck delivers a farce of epic imagination and entertainment.

SUCKER PUNCH SALLY BOSS DEAD–We heard a report on Friday that Christian Clayton died that morning. He got up, didn’t feel well and went back to bed. The Sucker Punch Sally brand was hit hard by the recession, and the company owes a lots of folks serious cash.

But for a while, under Donnie and Jeff, it was the coolest brand on the planet. Life is tough out there unless you live in a foreign country and receive large sums of money from the United States.

Here’s a good one. We had lunch on the Chowder Barge yesterday with a friend who has been in Irag and Afghanistan off and on since 9/11, ten years ago. He told us about dual airports leaving Afghanistan, where folks are allowed to leave un-searched, for Dubai with two of the largest duffle bags they can carry (there’s a weight limit for carry-on) full of American dollars. These guys make numerous trips a day stashing American taxpayer’s funds out of harms way in Dubai. It’s all about corruption paid for by us.

BIKERNET MEDICAL CENTER STAFF CAN’T SLEEP–Trouble Sleeping? If you experience anxiousness and troubled sleep, but don’t want to use prescription or over-the-counter sedatives, consider jasmine. Researchers have found that the scent of jasmine is as effective as Valium and similar drugs for relieving anxiety, promoting more peaceful sleep, and reducing anxiety upon waking. Particular jasmine fragrances were even shown to have the same neurochemical mechanism of action as barbiturates.

You can get the benefits of jasmine by taking a warm bath or shower with jasmine-scented soaps before bedtime, or placing a diffuser containing jasmine in your bedroom.

Other recommendations for getting quality rest include paying attention to your sleep hygiene – don’t drink anything containing caffeine or alcohol for a few hours before bedtime, keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature and make sure there is minimal or no light when you go to sleep. It’s also helpful to spend time outdoors during the day.

A TRIBUTE TO 911 and all things worth remembering and being thankful for–

Don’t forget our Service Men and Women, our sons and daughter’s that defend our country 24 hours a day, 8 days a week.
Thanks to all of our emergency personnel and their support teams.

THANK YOU MISS RIZZY W.
But most of all I would like to thank a young lady named Miss RIZZY W, a great article is available at www.andrews.af.mil/news.

Rizzy and her father found me wondering aimlessly in the middle of the Bonneville Salt Flats, after surviving 18 months in Viet Nam some 44 years ago, what are the odds? Small world?

Rizzy ask if I was a Veteran? After answering yes her Father said Rizzy had something to say. I got on one knee so that I could hear her and see her a little better not knowing what to expect.

Rizzy saluted, presented me with a coin and said,
“Thank You for being my Soldier”.

What are the odds?

A BIKERNET CHURCH RELIGIOUS MOMENT PAUSE–A priest offered a Nun a lift.

She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.

The priest nearly had an accident.

After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, ‘Father, remember Psalm 129?’

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up
her leg again.

The nun once again said, ‘Father, remember Psalm 129?’

The priest apologized ‘Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.’

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It
said, “Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.”

Moral of the story:

If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

DOGS ON THE DINNER TABLE– Of the 2,000 or so dogs rescued from being smuggled across the mekong River to dinner tables in Vietnam, only 863 are alive because up to 10 of them succumb to injuries or illnesses everyday because many refuse to eat commercial dog food, veterinarian Jakraporn Suwattanachao said Thursday. The dogs are being quarantined at an animal station in Nakhon Phanom.
The crowded conditions at the animal station prompted an outbreak of canine distemper and other viral diseases, even though donations and dog food has been pouring in to save the dogs. The amount of donations hit Bt20.7 million Thursday, but so far, only Bt611,270 has been spent on cleaning cages, building new ones, providing food and medical supplies as well as paying officials.

BUB SPEED TRIALS 2011–Sept. 9, 2011

Machine Vs. Salt
For most gear heads and their families the trek to the Bonneville Salt Flats culminates a year or more of getting’ ready for a few brief seconds on the salt in the quest for speed!

5 DAY SALT DIET, lost 10 lbs.
On Sunday the 27th I met “Motorcycle Marc”, our Bikernet Insurance guru, at the Motel 6 where we headquartered for a few days. Up before day break and back to the room after dark nearly every night. It’s always a great feeling rolling North on 93 and spotting the salt for the first time in a while.

We teamed with the Valerie Thompson, BIKERNET, CTEK sponsored team in the role of grab-this, hand-me-that, hold-down-the-tent, shut-the-trailer-door, in between visiting other friends and race teams from previous years. Valerie, on a bad ass BMW rode to a one way personal best of 201.010 mph, rock n roll.

What an incredible adventure, to say the least. The first night in Wendover, Ut. greeted us with rain and lightning coming into town the last 100 miles. The track was stellar the next morning.
Not to worry, we raced all week with the exception of an afternoon windy period that closed the track for a short time.

Congratulations Team PEREWITZ!–
Jodi Perewitz!
First woman to race into history at over 200 mph on an American V-Twin.
The Perewitz team set the event on fire with Jodi in the saddle making a few easy passes, just teasin the salt gods, then she unleashed the beast and BLAZED into history with a timed mile speed of 199 mph entering the mile, exiting the mile at 205 mph w/an average mile speed of 203.111 on her 100″ R&R Cycle, Pro Charger hot rod. OH Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The Brough Superior team set at least one record.

Hiro and his team mate out of Las Vegas set at least 6 records.

Wink Eller set one or two.

Jay Allen at least one.

The Klock Team with Erin Hunter set a bunch of records, just like bananas.

Leslie Porterfield kicked ass while setting a couple records.

TOP DOG!
Last but not least, Al Lamb out of Texas, top speed of the meet, over 230 mph with over 300 racers on the salt.

We thank you Delvene and your devoted crew!
The fine details, after the salt settles will be available @ www.speedtrialsbybub.com.

STAY TUNED!
Your Bikernet team is in the process of building 2 racers for 2012 events.

OFFICIAL BIKERNET PHOTOGRAPHER TAKES POSSESSION OF HIS NEW GRIP TRUCK– Peter’s 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche Camera Truck:
It has a Magnuson supercharger, gives me and other 139 hp, you feel it and I have stuff in that trk that is heavy. I have two huge yellow top batteries under the hood, and I will get a 260 amp smart alternator and switching solenoid. The two batt’s are not hooked up together. Every time you start the eng, the starting moves to one batt, next time to the other batt. That way I have two fresh batt’s and if one accidently should be drained, I have a little red button inside the car that I push and turn the key at the same time, and jump myself. The batt’s are for my big 2500W inverter that is used for my location lights. And then I have these working vents on the hood to keep it cool there. They are ’67 Camaro hood vents. When you buy
them they are not real vents, but I cut it out, had them bent so they fit
the hood.

It has this two risers on each side, so they look very good also. I did this as I had a few times when the models was inside doing their stuff in air-conditioning, and the engine got so hot it went in to limp mode when I was trying to drive it. So you see under the hood is a big part of the car.

I also keep my big bumper jack there as well, only trk you can do that. I have trailer towing in the front also, but just for a camera mount, but I have made an insert for them, so I can jack up the trk there.

I have changed the sway bars back and front. I have extra protection under for transmission and soon the gas tank, that one made by me, and I will have my Wilwood front and rear brakes mounted this week. Depending on the final weight, I might put some air bags under there also, but I think only the simple ones inside the coil springs, and I regulate them like I fill air in my tires.

The car came with body painted Avalanche plastic on the back, and the large break light on the top, a back up cam I see in my inside mirror, and distant sensors. The “story” on this trk is that I bought the cheapest one I could find for about 37 thousand, and then with aftermarket parts I have made it in to the most sophisticated camera model possible.

In the bed I have a rack where I keep my 6 , 4×4 ft shiny boards and some stands.
Inside is just as sophisticated; I have a little camera that comes on with the engine, it tapes out front and in the cabin. I have a Kenwood GPS radio and DVD-Satellite, Bluetooth, all controlled from the steering wheel. Including my Apple 4 phone and iPad 2. As long as I have the iPad on the 2 bloodroot’s communicates and I can play and change around all the music I have on the iPad, and I see the little phone face on the big 7″ touch screen on the radio. I make all the frames for the iPad’s, I call them i-padmama. I have two in the back seat hanging from a pole with two holes that where the head pins rests fits. It is super for my two girls, 5 and 10 to play their games, or a director use them as a monitor if we use a camera with Bluetooth when we do car to car filming.

I also have a 11-inch monitor with wireless with a suction cup for the front windshield where the director sits in front passenger seat. We talk with them with Bluetooth. So you see
communication and seeing the video is 100%. On the back I have 3 different camera rigs, depending on what size cameras we are using. And I have two different camera heads that you can pan and tilt from the inside with two joysticks. Again 100% in control.

I have made this trk so I can do my own and others car to car shoots, as a production trk for small shoots where we need shiny boards during the day and light at sunset and at night. It is
all based on my own production experiences. I will start showing it around soon.

BIKERNET WEATHER STATION REPORT: Earthquake Update–
The East Coast earthquake apparently was caused by an unknown fault line
running under D.C. and through Virginia.

It is now being called Obama’s Fault, though Obama will say it’s really Bush’s Fault.

Other possibilities:

It was the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves.

It was the effects of a 14.6 trillion dollar check bouncing in Washington

( Shocking? )

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help …….
There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE USA !

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY PHILOSOPHY CLASS, SIMPLE TRUTH 1–
Partners help each other undress before sex. However after sex, they always dress on their own.

Moral of the story:
In life, no one helps you once you’re screwed.

SIMPLE TRUTH 2
When a lady is pregnant, all her friends touch the stomach and saying
“congrats.”

But, none of them come and touch the man’s penis and say “Good job.”

Moral of the story:
“Hard work is never appreciated”

No Underwear – Makes Sense to Me
A man came to visit his grandparents, and he noticed his grandfather sitting on the porch in the rocking chair wearing only a shirt, with nothing on from the waist down.

‘Grandpa, what are you doing? Your weenie is out in the wind for everyone to see!’ he exclaimed.

The old man looked off in the distance without answering.

‘Grandpa, what are you doing sitting out here with nothing on below the waist?’ he asked again.

The old man slowly looked at him and said,
‘Well….last week I sat out here with no shirt on and I got a stiff neck. This is your grandma’s idea.’

TAKE TIME OUT TO REMEMBER 911 AND OUR TROOPS–Don’t miss Betsy’s Sturgis report. It contains a lot of heart during these tough times. Except you can’t find it. Our sever blew up and we lost 10 days of content. Hang on. We will regroup.

We are going to try to blaze out of here and make the 911 ride gathering in Long Beach.
The Week magazine published a piece about how this country has over-reacted to the 911 attack. It’s amazing. You get this government on a kick and they’ll spend billions to save one life. Take a look the next time you are forced to deal with airport security.

Okay, so next week I’m going to hit techs hard. We’ve worked hard on the Mudflap Girl FXRs, and the Yamaha XS now has a kickstand and is a roller. It needs a chain guard, the engine installed and new pipes built.

I made my FXR axles adjust from the rear and the front. That’s always bothered me in the past. My new fastener connection hooked me up with stainless fasteners. And I need to wrap up the JIMS tranny re-man tech. Then I’ll shift to a tech on rebuilding Evo engines, the Bennett’s Performance way.

This week is already a mess with meetings, appointments, and now I need to rebuild lost articles. I’m going to work out, watch Monday Night Football, and practice the deep Zen Teachings. We’ll see if that helps. Have a helluva week. I’ll report in on Thursday.

Ride Forever,

–Bandit
