VETERANS DAY SUNDAY POST for November 11, 2018

Hey,

We had to blast to the Hot Rod Swap Meet in Long Beach this morning. We are on the search for some dragster cage parts for the Salt Torpedo, but as you will see, we met the guy who builds this puppies.

Let’s hit the news. A wise guy from India once preached about change.

“Everything is changing all the time, and nothing last forever.” It’s true and when we adjust to those thoughts our lives change for the better. Relax and have a good time.

BIKERNET BOOK OF THE WEEK CLUB REVIEW–Bandit, Wish I had a little history on information on John to include in this but the book did not have an introduction or biography. If you want to add a little bit , please do…

Trogs Forever – Kindle Edition
By: John Chavers
Publisher: David Wiggins (August 31, 2018)

A roller coaster ride short stories, everything from a modern-day cowboy range war to a street fight with aliens the author keeps the stories coming. I was intrigued to see the direction of the next story and kept coming back when I had some free time. As I went from story to story I was excited to see what was next, always looking forward to the next hero, the next motorcycle ride, the next damsel in distress or as it may have been, psychopathic bitch.

Every story is a little different. Every story takes a different direction but with a common thread of two wheels and a beating Harley engine. Whether it be a widower looking for his next adventure or alone traveler broken down and alone in a godforsaken town. The stories were well developed and took interesting turns.

Scuz “John Chavers” has put together an intriguing set of short stories in Trogs Forever. He has developed some characters for which you can quickly develop feelings. Those feelings may be excitement, lust, admiration or repulsion but you will develop feelings.

Please look past the formatting errors and issues with conversion from paper to e-book, continue to read on through the errors and the story will shine through. It’s well worth your time to figure out those few words got messed up and understand where the author was going. You’ll enjoy it when you get to the end of the a journey worth taking.

For some quick escapism I recommend taking this book for a read.

SALT TORPEDO UPDATE—So as I scrambled around the shop trying to clean for the Ultimate Builder Party this coming Friday and helped James “The Tile Man” replace his wheels with a new, later-model set and machine spacers, the Redhead showed up.

She stopped by to run an errand for us and brought a new customer from her marina, Kevin Kahl, who it turned out worked for Bourget building frames back in the chopper heyday. He builds and welds dragster frames in his sleep.

Could be a life-saver.

VINTAGE RIDES HITS AFRICA–
A few months ago, we decided to take our wheels to South Africa. Given your enthusiasm towards our first African itinerary we thought: where could we go next to continue to surprise you? Moved by our pioneering spirit which has been motivating us since 12 years, we have found a destination on a new continent which met our expectations. A colourful country touching the Andes, with twisty roads on beautiful asphalted roads:
Peru.

Johann, our trusted tour leader has set off to quite a ride in high altitude, in search of the vestiges of lost civilizations. His ambition? Design a one-of-a-kind itinerary, tailored to the Royal Enfield Classics 500cc. By discovering mythical landmarks such as Cuzco, Machu Picchu, or Lake Titicaca on a purring machine, it’s the traditional and authentic face of the country which moved him most.

Pampa, Altiplano, the Amazon forest, Andean highlands… and their unique mix of pristine asphalted roads, dusty desert trails and luscious curves: that’s what awaits if you cross the Atlantic with us. Oh, and some welcoming alpacas.

BRAND New Bikernet Reader Comment!–STAY CALM BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for November 8, 2018

https://www.bikernet.com/pages/STAY_CALM_BIKERNET_WEEKLY_NEWS_for_November_8_2018.aspx

I am still trying too understand where all of this added load on power companies is going to come from. It seems when we have a heat wave or some other drain on the system we have brown outs or a jump in our electric bills for added fuel costs.

I drove 18-wheelers in the Northeast before coming too Florida, so could ride. When I left, there was an ongoing fight over a poor shortage and the need to build a new power line from Canada. And a final note, I don’t want my electric bill going up too charge you’re pc correct vehicle.

XMAS WARNING–I seriously have a big favor to ask of everyone… Those of you who are planning to place Christmas lights/decorations in your yards, can you please avoid anything that is red or blue & flashing? Every time I drive by, I think it’s the police & have a panic attack. I have to take my foot off the gas, toss my beer, fasten my seat belt, throw my phone on the floor, turn my radio down & push the gun under the seat. It’s too much drama. Thank you for your cooperation & understanding.????

I heard a factoid recently. I went something like this: Most Americans live better than President Roosevelt did in the ’40s. Think about that for a minute. We should be able to celebrate.

BOXING NEWS FROM RAQUEL– Boxing December 8, 2018 at the Stub Hub Center Braekhus vs Magdziak-Lopes

What a brilliant way to wind down the year in boxing. We’ve watched the champs and we’ve changed our watching channels. Whatever it takes, the boxing fans will do it. We are ready and excited to have fights right here in our backyard with affordable tickets. Professional, champion boxers training in our gyms, hitting our heavy bags and running our tracks! Are you kidding me, we love this! Fighters from all over the world come here to box, and we are here to watch and cheer for our favorites! The topic of boxing, is never dull.

This December 8th, 2018 is the double header featuring “Two of Boxing’s Biggest Stars” to be aired as one of the very last of HBO’s Boxing After Dark series. This is going to go down in history, one for the books! Its special to me, and many others I’m sure, to see our #1 pound for pound undisputed Welterweight World female champion boxer Cecilia Braekhus fight again on HBO. Cecilia, “The First Lady of Boxing” was the first female boxer to be aired on HBO in 45 years. That’s right, 45 years.

Braekhus, fighting out of Bergan Norway, will face two time world challenger Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes (18-4-3 (1 KO) of Gilwice Poland now fighting out of Marshfield, MA, in the 10 round main event. Both Lopes and Braekhus defeated boxer Kali Reis. Magdziak-Lopes has been fighting in Europe going after the vacant WBC Super Welterweight World Title. Aleksandra is also a licensed Attorney, everything pointing towards that laser focus of an athlete. This is going to be an amazing fight. Cecilia just fought for the first time in Moscow Russia winning a 10 round match with Junior Middleweight Champion Inna Sagaydakovskaya in July 2018, remaining undefeated.

Also on this incredible double header is Roman “Chocolotito” Gonzalez of Managua NIC vs Pedro Guevara Sinaloa, MEX 33-30 (17 KO’s). I just saw “Chocolotito” box at the Canelo vs GGG2 Championship in Las Vegas, what a fight! Roman, has an incredible boxing career. Roman has destroyed his opponents as he has risen in weight classes. Chocolotito beat the hell out of Moises Fuentes in Las Vegas this last September at the Canelo vs GGG2 fight. I watched Fuentes bleed all over the place and then Roman put him to sleep in the 5th round with a right cross to the face. Goodnight! That is what 29 year old Guevara has to have stuck in his mind as he prepares for this fight. 2018 has been a good year for boxer Pedro Guevara with two wins, lets see what he brings to the ring this December.
On the undercard will be the Australian female boxer Louisa “bang bang LuLu” Hawton 7-1 (3 KO’s) A brilliant way to start the show.

Tickets go on sale today in one hour! The event is December 8, 2018 in Carson at the StubHub Center.

JUST FOR VETERANS, THE BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN–An old Navy Pilot sat down at the Starbucks, still wearing his old Navy flight jacket and ordered a cup of coffee.

As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the pilot and asked, Are you a real pilot?

He replied, ‘Well, I’ve spent my whole life flying planes, first Stearmans, then the early Grummans…

flew a Wildcat and Corsair in WWII, and later in the Korean conflict, Banshees and Cougars.

I’ve taught more than 260 people to fly and given rides to hundreds, so I guess I am a pilot, and you, what are you?

She said, ‘I’m a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about naked women.

As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about naked women.

When I shower, I think about naked women.

When I watch TV, I think about naked women.

It seems everything makes me think of naked women.’

The two sat sipping in silence.

A little while later, a young man sat down on the other side of the old pilot and asked:

” A re you a real pilot?”

He replied, ‘I always thought I was, but I just found out I’m a lesbian .’

I knew Squire back in the ‘70s. Many good times partying at different clubhouses. I rode with another club in the day and enjoyed talking and laughing with him. His bike was an original that you wondered how it ran for so many miles. Good stuff RIP Squire!

FROM THE PRESIDENT–On Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served in our Nation’s Armed Forces. These exceptional patriots took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. No words will ever be enough to convey our country’s admiration and respect. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coastguardsmen represent the very best of America, and we owe them and their families a debt of gratitude for their honorable service and sacrifice in defense of our freedom.

This Veterans Day, I will join other world leaders in France to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice, which brought an end to World War I hostilities. Today, I ask you to join me in paying tribute to the American service members—from all generations—who have courageously protected our cherished freedoms.

May God bless the United States of America, and may He continue to watch over all of our men and women in the Armed Forces.

Sincerely,

–President Trump

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS COMING AROUND–A man goes to church and tells the priest “Father, I almost cheated on my wife.”

The priest asks him “How do you almost cheat on your wife?”

The man says “Well, me and the woman were naked but we just rubbed against each other.”

The priest looks at him disgusted and says “Rubbing is the same as putting it in. Never do it again, say five Hail Mary’s and put $100 in the donation pan.”

The next time the priest sees the man he is infuriates “You didn’t put $100 in the pan!”

The man looks at the priest disgusted and says “I rubbed the money against the pan, and rubbing is the same as putting it in.”

Tom’s wife has been in a coma for months. Her attendants have noticed that every time they wash her crotch she moves a little bit. Desperate, they ask Tom if he would perform oral sex on his wife in an attempt to wake her up. Tom agrees and asks for some privacy in the room. Soon after, he rushes out in a panic and says, “I think she’s choking!”

A blonde, a brunette, and a red headed mother are talking about their daughters. The brunette tells them, “I found cigarettes in my daughter’s room, I can’t believe she smokes!”

The read head said “I know, I found some beer in my daughter’s room. I couldn’t believe it!”

The blonde says “That’s nothing! I found condoms in my daughter’s room. I never knew she had a penis!”

Can I buy Viagra here?
Pharmacist: Yes.
Woman: Could you give it to me over the counter?
Pharmacist: If you give me two of them, you can.

This is the story of how earrings became so popular for men:

John looked over at his coworker Tom. He noticed that he had an earring on one of his ears. Tom was usually a pretty conservative guy so John is curious. He approached Tom and asked him, “If you don’t mind me asking, what’s with the earring?”

Tom replied, “Don’t worry about it, it’s just an earring.”

John let it go for a few minutes but then his curiosity peaked again, “So how long have you been wearing and earring?”

A washed up actor hasn’t gotten a job in years. He has lost his ability to remember lines. But after looking for work for a very long time, finally he gets the lead role in a Broadway musical.

When he arrives at the theater the director tells him, “You have the most important part, but you only have one line. You walk onto stage with a rose; bring it close to your nose with your thumb, index, and middle fingers; and sniff it deeply. Then you will say, ‘Oh, the smell of my lover.'”

When it comes time for him to say his line he walks onto stage and says, “Oh, the smell of my lover.” With this the crowd begins to laugh hysterically and the director explodes with anger.

The actor runs off stage and asks, “Did I forget my lines?”

The director replies, “No! You forgot the flower.”

DETAILING DAY AT THE SHOP—We scrambled back from the Swap Meet almost empty handed. Jeremiah convinced me to use 3M rubbing compound on the ’72 and we found some, but no dragster chassis.

I returned home to another cup of coffee and detailing the shop and bikes. I’m trying to take it easy, since I came down with some sort of mung. It kicks my ass, then seems to go away, like with Jack Daniels.

We are still working on James “The Tileman’s” wheel spacing.

He came back over because the caliper bracket is too close to the rotor. More work this afternoon. Hang on for more action.

And Ride Free or die trying.
