Hey,
Life is nuts. I rarely get sick or have problems with my teeth. I was hit twice this month, and I feel like I’m burning daylight. The projects don’t go away because you’re down with the mung. In fact a brother just reminded me to write a Cantina Soap episode, and I’ve got a good one lined up.
We also have another chapter of World Run ready to post. And damn, it’s sorta cold in the shop today, and yesterday Buck Lovell, the esteemed editor of Bikernet Baggers called. He just stepped out of his South Dakota door into 2-feet of snow. What the hell?

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT WEEKEND FUCK-UP VOCABULARY LESSON–lilt lilt, noun:
In this way, the movement of the lines is both slowed and varied, bringing them closer to a lilt, or even, at times, a slow chant.
Lucilla pitched her voice in the merry lilt: “Good morning, Dama.”
The origin of lilt is unknown, though it may be related to the Norwegian lilla meaning “to sing” or to the Low German lul meaning “pipe.” The verb form entered English more than 300 years before the noun form, in the late 1300s.

BIG BIKE EUROPE, INTERNATIONAL ENOUGH FOR YOU?–Current exhibitor list can be found here: http://www.bigbikeeurope.com/exhibitors
Current floorplan can be found here: http://www.bigbikeeurope.com/floorplan
One of the primary objectives that was set when the Big Bike Europe expo concept was announced in August 2011 was to create a genuinely international industry gathering that reached beyond the borders of any single market.
We were always careful to make sure that everybody realized that Big Bike Europe would be an international industry expo that just happened to be staged in Germany (as Europe’s largest single market), rather than a German market show with somewhat of an international dimension.
In the coming weeks, much is going to be discussed and said about which of the objectives set for Big Bike Europe have been achieved in its first year – but with 4 weeks to go, there are several characteristics of the concept that can already be said achieved market acceptance.
With advance dealer and championship registrations now having both passed minimum targets that were set, not only does it look like the year one objective of at least 200 custom shop and dealership attendees is going to be met, but the international reach of the expo is set to exceed anything that we, as organisers, could have hoped for.
What is more, with dealer registrations now coming in thick and fast, there are already some 30 plus different countries represented on the advance trade attendee list – with visitors coming from as far afield as Russia, The Middle East, South America, Japan and Australia, as well as most European markets.
“I always had a hunch that the custom market lacked and needed a genuinely ‘International Headquarters Expo’, and it would appear that I’ve not been alone in that thinking” said Big Bike Europe organiser and AMD Magazine publisher Robin Bradley.
“It is humbling when you see your instincts play out in front of your eyes, and seeing the international reach of the Big Bike Europe concept emerge in recent weeks is a reassuring pay-off for the investment being made by exhibitors and competitors alike.
“I have always shared the widespread cynicism that surrounds exhibition attendance claims. For me, it has always been about quality rather than quantity. However, when anybody has pushed me for any kind of first year ‘guesstimate’, I have consistently maintained that anything north of a couple of hundred dealers and custom shops would be a wonderful result for a first time expo, especially in the current economic climate, and a convincing validation of concept.
“It looks like a viable minimum expectation for attendance will be achieved, and that we’ll have given the industry a start-point on which we can all build”.

BIKERNET 5-Ball RACING WHEELER REPORT–
THE ADRENALINE CLOCK IS TICKING
ElMirage….RACING TODAY
Ohio Mile
April 27-28
June 8-9
July 6-7
Sept. 28-29
Short and sweet this mostly sunny Saturday. The good news is we will build the shift linkage Monday at the crack of dawn, rather than Saturday morning as planned. The men in the Colorado Custom Wheels machine shop had a sketch in hand as of mid Friday afternoon headed for a lathe to machine a steel bung that will weld to the support bracket holding the shifter. After the support plate is trimmed and the bung welded in place we’ll lightly press the bushing in place and ream to fit. The bushing will have a .001 press fit, and then we hone the bushing to fit the shifter shaft for a smooth as silk set-up.
Our second project on the short list is the street and salt track handlebars. The street bars are mounted securely today, we need to extend the wiring harness running to the throttle side for the street. Our custom made cables by Barnett Clutches & Cables connect our 1/4 turn Hayabusa 7/8-inch throttle to a 62 mm Horse Power Inc. throttle body as well as a custom clutch cable. A second shorter set of cables will be needed for the salt flats set up.
Once the linkage and salt bars are completed, the hot rod will load and roll 23 miles to the Race Tech headquarters in Pomona, Ca. for top shelf suspension tuning and alignment. These guys are the best of the best, our Raycer is running all Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 1 suspension axel to axel. Every component is rebuilt to as new specs and or replaced, neck bearings, wheel bearings, swingarm bushings and bearings, rebuilt the brake calipers from piston to piston.
While the 5-Ball Racing Team’s, Raycer is in Corona for suspension tuning, the men at Colorado Custom and Lyndall are teaming up to build a set of custom composite rotors and carriers with the Busa dimensions in mind. We are becoming a rolling test bed of sorts for the latest, greatest performance products. Material for the 320 mm rotors are in the works and due any day now for the next step.

Stay tuned, with a little luck we’ll see the dyno located in San Jose for a stellar tuning session early May. We have a wealth of stored tune-up information from my 124-inch Turbo Charged Dyna. Ron and Jeff the dyno kings are on standby for a weekend visit. In less than a month, we might be tagged, insured, roadworthy and rackin’ up the miles on the speedo and hours on the hour meter.
Hang on for the ride.
Thanks….With one helluva lot of help from my family and Industry friends….Thanks, Thanks, Thanks.
We’re on track for a stellar year on the street and on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

BAD COP FILES NOW OPEN–Ohio police chief says he ate cake laced with pot–LAURELVILLE, Ohio – An Ohio police chief says he ate cake left in his kitchen without realizing it was laced with cannabis oil.
Laurelville Chief Mike Berkemeier says he fell ill after eating the cake a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He says he drove a few blocks to the police station, where medics took him for medical testing.
The Logan Daily News reports Berkemeier was hospitalized for more than a day. While there, a phone call with his daughter revealed the cake had been laced with an oil form of the psychoactive chemical component that causes a high from marijuana.
Berkemeier tells WBNS-TV one of his daughter’s friends took the cake to his home, about 35 miles southeast of Columbus.
There’s no word of criminal charges.

CONCEPT ILLUSTRATION FOR 2015 MUSTANG– Too bad the production vehicles bear little resemblance to the concept cars. H-D CV CARB MODS FOR PERFORMANCE—
This carb can be tricky to work on. It has some things that can seriously affect drive-ability if not handled right.
Most people use the Spit & Sputer fixed-
venturi carb. The H-D CV carb is way different.
One of the biggest pains is the rubber slide diaphram. It expands a lot from gas and reassembly can be very frustrating.
I put it in the freezer while working on the jetting/spring etc.
Here is the hot performance formula:
185 main
48 slow/pilot jet
’88 Sportster needlel/with 1 dynojet spacer from dynojet kit.
2 coils cut from stock slide spring for start
1/8 DIA. drill hole in slide. Any hole bigger the slide is junk!
2 to 3 turns on idle air mixture screw. More than 3 turns go
to next size up slow jet.
Also it is very easy to pinch the slide diaphram when reassembling
the carb. Choke cable can be tricky also. The needle assembly must
seat properly.
You should’ve asked me damn it!!

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT CHIEF PISSED OFF WORD OF THE DAY–chuffed chuhft, adjective:
He was really chuffed about the fire as well, because Mrs Pearson from up the stairs had her washing ruined by the smoke.
Well, we can discuss that when we get there. Declan will be chuffed when I tell him, the family never usually goes to these things.
This British term comes from the obsolete chuff meaning “chubby,” used in the seventieth to nineteenth centuries. In the 1800s, chuff took on the sense of “pleased.” Since the mid-1900s, chuffed has been used to mean both “pleased” or “displeased,” depending upon the context.

And have a party with me.”
(Resume musical delivery)
When the Black swan
Spreads its wings in flight
The new world will rise up

What was once forbidden,
Will no longer be wrong,
When the dark horse runs
On the wings of the swan
The Old World will be gone
(Music with spoken phrase)
“Put the bankers in prison,
No one will miss them.”
Oh, Oh Oh
Lighting will break open the dawn,
When that Black Swan comes along.

NEW FEATURES FROM OUR EAST COAST EDITOR—Both of these bikes were winners at the Charlotte Easyriders show this year. Mike Pullin and his lovely assistant, Vickie, are currently working up stellar features, soon to be posted on Bikernet.
CALIFORNIA SEEKS TO EXPAND VEHICLE RETIREMENT PROGRAM–
A bill (S.B. 459) has been amended in the California Senate that would authorize the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) to provide other forms of financial assistance to an owner to retire a motor vehicle. This assistance would be in addition to the $1,500 the Bureau currently pays to a low-income motor vehicle owner and the $1,000 to all other motor vehicle owners.
In addition, this bill would require BAR to establish a specified one-year pilot program to provide financial assistance to low-income motor vehicle owners for the retirement of gross-polluting vehicles, but would prohibit BAR from requiring proof that these vehicles were registered for the last 2 years prior to acceptance into the program.
If this effort is successful, hobbyists could be denied the availability of vintage cars and parts for restoration projects. A hearing on S.B. 459 is scheduled for the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
We Urge You to Contact Members of the California Senate Transportation and Housing Committee (List Below) Immediately to Request Their Opposition to S.B. 459
• S.B. 459 represents an attempt by California lawmakers to dust off a tired, flawed and ineffective scrappage program using your tax dollars.
• S.B. 459 ignores the fact that all scrappage programs hold the potential for enthusiasts to lose a valuable source of rare parts for vehicle restoration projects.
• S.B. 459 is unfair to many of the low-income vehicle owners the bill seeks to target by potentially denying them available parts from older cars in order to maintain their own vehicles.
• S.B. 459 embraces the fact that most scrapped cars are infrequently or never used second or third vehicles by not requiring proof of registration.
• S.B. 459 will do little to improve air quality which is directly connected to overall basic vehicle maintenance.
Please contact members of the California Senate Transportation and Housing Committee immediately to urge their opposition to S.B. 459. Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org. Also, please forward this Alert to your fellow car enthusiasts. Urge them to join the SAN and help defend the hobby! Thank you for your assistance.

HOLLY HILL, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) –
Eddie Colosimo runs Holy Hill’s Bikers for First Amendments Rights restaurant and bar. It’s a non-profit that helps support military veterans.??
Colosimo, a wounded Marine Corps vet, is passionate about United States Armed Forces. His granddaughter, grandson, and son-in-law are all serving in different branches of the military. So, Colosimo decided to fly military flags representing all our servicemen and women in front of his the restaurant.
“These flags represent our men and women all over the world for us today!” he said.
These flags have been here every weekend for two years, but just this week, Colosimo received a letter from the city informing him that flying the flags violates a new city code passed in March.
“The fines will start today (Friday) for every day the flags fly,” he told us. “Please don’t try to tell me my Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force flags are flutter signs, and compare them to beer signs. That doesn’t fly!”
This Is Bullshit! And besides that I am a member.
Let veterans know and contact the city to stop this!

USING THE RIGHT TOOL FOR CAMPLATE TECH COMING TO BIKERNET–
Using the right tool for any job makes things go easier and eliminates most mistakes. There have been numerous articles on installing cams in Harley’s Twin Cam Engine. The use of the tools that remove and install bearings and such have been pretty much covered. You can see them in previous articles here on Bikernet.
What I have not seen covered anywhere, Except here on Bikernet in my recent article about installing Zippers Cams and Dual Piston Chain Tensioners is the Feuling Cam Plate Tester.
I feel very strongly that part of any Twin Cam install should include Checking The Pressure Relief By-Pass Valve located in the Cam Support Plate (Camplate). You will see the complete tech this week on Bikernet.
For more information on this and other Feuling products check their web site at http://www.feulingparts.com/

HOW VOLUSIA COUNTY DEPUTIES SPENT SPRING BREAK– While an estimated 15,000 made their way to Daytona Beach for Spring Break, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office had its own Spring Break plan.
As part of a five-week operation coordinated by the Florida Sheriff’s Task Force, Volusia deputies made 63 arrests in the county during Operation Dry Spring, officials said.
The goal of the statewide operation was to prevent “underage youth from buying and using alcohol, tobacco and various forms of synthetic drugs,” Volusia sheriff’s spokesman Gary Davidson said in a release.
More than 5,000 arrests were made statewide among the 37 sheriff’s agencies that participated in the operation conducted from March 4 to April 7, Davidson said.
Of the 63 arrests made in Volusia County, 16 were for illegal possession of tobacco, 15 for illegal possession of alcohol, eight for selling alcohol to someone underage and two for possession of synthetic drugs, Davidson said. The other arrests were for various violations.
In 2010, nearly 190,000 people under the age of 21 paid a visit to the emergency room for injuries or conditions connected to drinking alcohol, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On Thursdays post I found the following Very Interesting!
I would like to see the full bill because I would question why anyone would support a bill that Makes More Money for The State.
Any bill that increases fines Should Make A Portion Of The Fines Go To The Victim and or Their Family.
No State Should Profit From The Injury or Death of Their Residents and or Those Traveling Through Their Jurisdiction.
I will attempt to find out more about the exact wording BUT maybe someone supporting this legislation will supply it.
What are the motorcycle rights groups in North Carolina doing about this?
THINK VERY SERIOUSLY BEFORE YOU SUPPORT LEGISLATION THAT DOES NOTHING BUT MAKE MONEY FOR THE GOVERNMENT – States are part of the government.

OLD RACING SHOTS FROM THE OLE HENRY VAULT–
The non-fairing picture “at speed” was at the 120 mile long Road Race from San Felipe to Ensenada on Highway #3. My average speed was 101.70 for the whole 120-mile deal. I beat the Ducati team and the factory Harley team.
The Harley team all Blew-Up after I caught and passed the lead bike at the halfway point. The officials started each bike every 30 seconds. I was started after the second H-D.
The Class was “Open” to everything on two wheels (ha ha ha) so all us cheaters blew on by mostly on the long straights and sweepers. I tried really hard to pass some of the Ducks in the mountains, but could not get Ole Henry to handle as good as their stuff. I could chew off the tail of the lead duck so many times, but the rubber on my tires (front) would start to smoke when really pushed.
It was a really hot and sunny day. Thank God for the long straights. One of the Ducati riders said “man that thing smokes.”
I asked, “What do you mean?” He said first it was the fastest fucking H-D he has ever seen, and it did smoke out the pipe toward the end of the race. I know it was eating up the rings with the 5-inch arm especially when the rpm often hit 6500. Ha. Yes, they were a one-race set-up.
The pictures of the (Ole Henry) fairing was the following year with the 5-inch arm. God was that thing Fast. Even with the cool oil squirters on the valve springs, an exhaust valve stuck, and cut the motor in half in the last 10 remaining miles of the race. Yes, it was geared really tall.

BIKERNET GUN NUT FILES ARE NOW OPEN–California: Anti-Gun Bills Scheduled for Committee Hearings Next Week Contact your State Legislators in Sacramento TODAY
Many anti-gun bills are scheduled to be heard in committee next Monday and Tuesday. Call AND e-mail your state legislators urging them to OPPOSE the bills listed below. Remind them that a criminal by definition does not obey or respect the law and any legislation infringing on gun owners will do nothing to affect criminals or their access to and misuse of firearms. Instead, urge them to focus on meaningful legislation relating to school safety, mental health issues, marketing of violence as entertainment for our children and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
On Monday, April 15 in the Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation at 1:30 p.m. in Capitol room 126 (Click here to listen to this hearing):
Assembly Bill 760 (Dickinson) imposes a sales tax of .05 cents per ammunition component (complete cartridge, bullet or case).
On Tuesday, April 16 in the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife at 9:00 a.m. in Capitol room 437
Assembly Bill 711 (Rendon) BANS the use of all lead ammunition for hunting.
On Tuesday, April 16 in the Assembly Committee on Public Safety at 9:00 a.m. in Capitol room 126 (Click here to listen to this hearing):
Assembly Bill 231 (Ting) expands the law for Criminal Storage of Firearms and child access.
On Tuesday, April 16 in the state Senate Committee on Public Safety at 9:00 a.m. in Capitol room 4203:
Senate Bill 47 (Yee) expands the definition of “assault weapons” to BAN the future sale of rifles that have been designed/sold and are equipped to use the “bullet button” or similar device, requires NEW “assault weapon” registration of ALL those semi-auto rifles that are currently possessed to retain legal possession in the future, and subjects these firearms to all other “assault weapons” restrictions.
Senate Bill 53 (DeLeon) requires persons to buy an annual ammunition purchase permit, requires the registration and thumbprint of the purchaser for each ammunition purchase, and bans online and mail order sales of ammunition to Californians.
Senate Bill 108 (Yee) requires mandatory locked storage of firearms within a locked house regardless of whether anyone is present.
Senate Bill 293 (DeSaulnier) BANS the sale of conventional handguns, if the state Department of Justice approves the sale of “Owner Authorized – Smart” handgun technology.
Senate Bill 299 (DeSaulnier) turns victims of firearm theft into criminals for failing to report the loss of their firearm within 48 hours.
Senate Bill 374 (Steinberg) expands the definition of “assault weapons” to BAN the future transfer of all semi-auto rifles that accept detachable magazines (including those chambered for rimfire cartridges) and virtually all semi-auto rifles with fixed magazines (primarily those chambered for rimfire cartridges), requires NEW “assault weapon” registration, requires registration of ALL those semi-auto rifles that are currently possessed to retain legal possession in the future, and subjects these firearms to all other “assault weapon” restrictions.
Senate Bill 396 (Hancock) BANS the POSSESSION of any magazine with a capacity to accept more than 10 cartridges, including currently legally possessed “grandfathered” large capacity magazines.
Senate Bill 567 (Jackson) expands the definition of shotgun for “short-barreled shotguns” that are illegal to own.
Senate Bill 755 (Wolk) expands the list of persons prohibited from owning a firearm.
Your state Senator and Assemblyman MUST hear from you TODAY urging them to OPPOSE the anti-gun bills listed above. Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends and fellow gun owners throughout California and urge them to do the same. The California Legislature needs to know that this tyranny against law-abiding citizens needs to stop.
You can write your representative here urging them to OPPOSE the anti-gun bills listed above. Please feel free to also copy and paste all the bill information to ensure your state legislators know which bills to OPPOSE.

AND SO A NEW WEEK BEGINS—Every week affords new opportunities to blossom. Here’s just the start of our tech list for this week. Hang on for the Fueling Cam Plate Tester, Solid Mount Sportster Mounts, Locking Straps, 106-inch S&S and Bennett’s Performance Engine Build, Metal Sport Tire Mounting Service, and more cool features.
We will attempt to review the Triking Viking’s new novel, and attempt to fix the 1928 Shovelhead once more. We just scored an Ol Sol taillight.
We are looking for one of these primaries, but we can fix and powder-coat this one.
So the week kicks off with dreams of finishing projects, meeting new girls, building faster motorcycles, and writing another book. What the hell could be better, except maybe a ride into the desert.
Ride Forever,
–Bandit
