WILD NEW YEAR’S SUNDAY POST for January 3, 2016

Hey,

It’s a new year and a very special one. Maybe it’s a year to get our priorities straight. It’s definitely a year to step up and help. Either help with your community or help with the motorcycle industry or both. Look into joining your motorcycle rights group. And I’m doing to take a class in handgun use. It’s been a long time since I took my first NRA gun course at 14 years-of-age.

I’m on a crunch now to deal with the city and my building and finish my next “Chance” fiction book. Only then can I feel comfortably on track with this year.

Plus, we must make strides on our Salt Torpedo Effort. And if you’re a racer, we need to support the Save the Salt Effort. It’s going to be a busy year.

Let’s hit the news:

FREE ATOMIC BOB OR HELP HIS FAMILY–
Many readers may know of Atomic Bob, pinstriper from Ohio. Recently, his family fell on hard times and he was incarcerated due to an altercation with a previous relationship over his personal belongings being returned.

His wife and three daughters are dependent on him for his art talent to support the family. His wife, known as SaraBelle ran the company Atomic Dice Studio Arts LLC, but with the artist unable to paint motorcycles they have very little to no income.

While Atomic is away SaraBelle has focused her talents in graphic design on a new venture, prison art. Atomic creates artwork and sends it to her to create t-shirts, prints, shop rags and other rad pieces for people to purchase to help support the family.

Atomic has now entered the art program within Lorain Correctional Institution in Grafton, Ohio. While in prison Atomic receives assignments from SaraBelle over the phone and he mails her what he can kick out with #2 pencils and any scrap of paper he can find. Prison art accessories and prints can be purchased from the family at www.atomicdicecustompaint.com under the Atomic Dice Store section of the website.

Some of the art sent was specifically for SaraBelle from Atomic, it will not be made into product, but we will share the beautiful images with you. Atomic waits in line to have a 10 min phone call with SaraBelle and will do this over and over instead of recreation, TV, or enjoying free time.

His greatest love is his family and you can see that through the emotional feelings art pieces.

SaraBelle wanted to keep the art real and leave the crease line marks from the folded letters and art on the t-shirts for the raw design influence. Currently, they are working on a line of cards, a children’s book about a hot rod, and always, more art! During the time Atomic is away, SaraBelle and the children are in need; a GoFundMe account was set up by Jeff Najar with Biker Pros to assist the family.

So you see, gentlemen, how far back we can trace our innate love for one another, and how this love is always trying to redintegrate our former nature, to make two into one, and to bridge the gulf between one human being and another.

TRAILBLAZERS BANQUET TICKETS ON SALE STARTING MONDAY, JANUARY 4TH–
The Trailblazers will formally induct Wayne Rainey to its Hall of Fame at its 72nd annual banquet in Carson on Saturday, April 23rd. To be there to see that in person, tickets go on sale on Monday, January 4th online at www.trailblazersmc.com.

Wayne Rainey: 2016 Trailblazers Hall of Fame Inductee

One of this year’s Trailblazers Hall of Fame inductees is Southern California native Wayne Rainey. When he was about six-years-old, his dad fixed him up with his first mini-bike and it was full speed ahead from there. Rainey started in amateur racing in Southern California, then came the professional license that allowed him to further develop his skills at Ascot Park and other dirt tracks from coast to coast.

In 1983, Wayne won the AMA Superbike championship and was then hired for a Grand Prix ride in Europe racing for Kenny Roberts. His first GP deal only lasted one season, though, and Wayne returned to race in America for the next few years. In 1987 he culminated his career in America with a Daytona 200 victory, as well as his second AMA Superbike championship.

He returned to the Grand Prix series in 1988 and this time went all the way to the top. Over the next six years Wayne won 24 Grand Prix events and was crowned World Champion three times. 1993 would be his last season as a Grand Prix racer. He won four races that year before suffering career-ending injuries in a crash in Italy.

In late 2014, Rainey joined forces with three associates to create MotoAmerica, an organization that ultimately purchased the commerical rights for the AMA’s professional roadracing series. In 2015, the AMA Superbike series ran under the MotoAmerica banner for the first time and they look forward to the beginning of their second season in April.

The Trailblazers congratulate Wayne Rainey on his induction to the Trailblazers Hall of Fame. Others honors given at the banquet will be for three other new Trailblazers Hall of Fame inductees: 7-time American Speedway champion Mike Bast, Ascot 8-Mile National winner Dan Haaby, and famed Dirt Track race tuner and suspension expert Steve Storz.

We will also recognize posthumously two Trailblazers who have previously passed on: Bruce Ogilvie and Gil Vaillancourt. Webco co-founder Tom Heininger will be the recipient of our annual wine toast, Susie Ellsworth will receive the Lucile Flanders Award and Keith Mashburn will receive the Dick Hammer Award.

AUSTRALIAN CLUB REPORT–
Five arrested under new South Australian anti-biker laws.

Five South Australian men, alleged members of the Hells Angels motorcycle club, have been charged with criminal association after being the first to be arrested under South Australia’s revamped anti-biker laws.

The men, aged between 23 and 29, were arrested on Thursday during a series of raids at suburban properties across Adelaide.

Police allege three of the five men associated with each other at Adelaide Airport following interstate travel earlier this month and three were together outside a licensed premises at North Adelaide on Sunday.

SA’s new laws, which came into effect in August, make it an offence for members of declared criminal organizations to associate in groups of three or more in public.

The Hells Angels are one of 10 such declared groups in SA.

”The alleged circumstances of this offending is exactly what these new laws were designed to prevent, which is criminals coming together in public places where they create a risk to public safety” Assistant Commissioner Linda Fellows said.

The five men were refused police bail and were expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday

ISIS AND FUMBLING CONTROL OF NUCLEAR MATERIALS–
Center’s investigations into global threats in 2015

With high profile terrorist attacks in Paris, San Bernardino and elsewhere, 2015 was the year the world turned its attention more fully to the self-styled Islamic State. It was also the year that Americans confronted the possibility that terrorists could wreak even more havoc at home.

The Center for Public Integrity traced where the Islamic State’s ammo comes from in 2014 and this year wrote about a grave setback in the U.S. military’s effort to take on the group. Through a series of investigative and revelatory articles, it also brought new attention to the possibility that terrorists might get ahold of nuclear explosive materials, due to lax security controls in a handful of key nations.

From South Africa to Iraq and from Moldova to India, here are some of the most alarming stories we published about terrorism and nuclear-related risks in 2015.

South African facilities present a ripe target for nuclear terrorists

The Obama administration has twice asked South African President Jacob Zuma to hand over the country’s supply of weapons-grade uranium. He did not agree.

South Africa’s nuclear stockpile is among the most vulnerable to theft in the world, U.S. officials say.

The complicated fight against the Islamic State through one fighter’s capture

Lieutenant Farhan al-Jassem signed up to join a U.S.-backed force against the Islamic State. He was captured in July by the Nusra Front, another anti-ISIS group.

It’s a cautionary, close-up tale about the long war against the Islamic State, which has been undermined by conflicting goals and wary allegiances.

Experts say someone is looking for a buyer for this nuclear material

Material seized in separate arrests by police in three countries, spanning more than a decade, has led experts and intelligence officials to conclude that a significant quantity of Soviet-era nuclear materials are on the loose.

India’s push for nuclear power has its residents, close neighbors and the West worried.

If India continues to power itself with coal, it could be the world’s No. 1 polluter by 2050. But the country’s answer to this global concern — to build dozens of new nuclear reactors over the next two decades — is beset by serious problems.

Toxic and radioactive pollution from India’s uranium mining and processing are harming citizens, according to Indian and Japanese experts. The country’s expansion of its military nuclear program has displaced tribal communities and alarmed Western analysts. And India’s security precautions for nuclear explosive materials are considered far too lax by U.S. government officials, who say they have been unable to persuade India to take the issue more seriously.

BIKERNET CONTENT COMING—
More cool content flies at the Bikernet Editorial department daily, and I’m working on a wild story and a feature for Bikernet Baggers on a Strictly Hawgs Performance Bagger.

We have always wanted to focus most of our Bagger coverage on Performance Baggers, and Charles is the first to attempt a definition of a Performance Bagger. It should be posted next week.

Then we will cover off-road or long distance Sportster kits from Carducci. Turn any solid-mount Sportster into a dual sport scooter. And I should have a Bonne Belle report flying together.

Hang on as the year kicks off, and make the most out of it.
